Lenox MO. Enjoy watching you alls content. Born and raisedup on a homestead in the boonies of Alaska but been in MO 31 years. 1st time have place where can garden and have chickens. You all have great content!!
Spokane, WA, I will start next month with some seeds. But our last frost day is Mother's Day. Last year, i was fighting chronic pain, so i really didn't do much in the garden. I just had neck surgery about three weeks ago. I prayed for full recovery. So i can enjoy gardening again. I'm going to over plant cause i can always give it away. Cause what i did plant didn't do too well. It was probably a blessing cause I didn't have the energy to can .
Love looking through seed catalogs! This upcoming growing season I will be planting for my DOG! She has been put on a raw meat diet with some parcooked vegetables (green beans, carrots, beets, cabbage, squash etc) so she will get the less desirable harvest that I will freeze just for her. The only drawback is…. Less compost!
LOL I made the mustard mistake a couple of years ago. Bonus: those tiny seeds that are so hard to harvest, pop open very easily on their own and blow *everywhere*. I can't wait to see if you have as many volunteers as I did.
Kevin do you still use salt pepper and herbs/spices when doing your carnnivore? I do when im on that wagon..really works well for me. Tend to only stick to it a couple of months at a time, by the time the garden is producing i cant help adding the odd home grown veg or fruit item 😅
Western South Dakota- snowing currently and 14 degrees feels like O with the windchill. Sugar baby watermelon is my suggestion for a small trellis kind. We usually get 3 to 5 per plant.
How sneaky to hide the birth of Sylvester 😂here I thought we were just being ignored because something went wrong. His birth video was pretty cool. Thanks
Hi from Los Angeles, been watching for long time, love your channel and all that you do, you make me want to do it, but I don't have space. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge, and want to wish you a Happy and prosperous New Year, God Bless!😊
YT Stefan Sobkowiak of Ontario Canada of Permaculture videos mentions that aphids are telling you that your plants have TOO MUCH NITROGEN. This high nitrogen and ammonia smell is what draws aphids to your plants. So check your soil or compost nitrogen nutrition.
I am from Langton Ontario Canada and your cafe was also born on my birthday as well. What a awesome name for your new little baby boy to care on your family's name . I love your family and your video's ❤
Want an idea to help prevent frozen locks and latches? My dad cut a rectangular piece of thick rubber from something like an innertube. He nailed that above the latch and lock on the barn door. It has been there 24/7/365. Still works to this day!
Hi Kevin and Sarah, enjoyed the live last night. We were watching on tv so I thought I get on here today and make a comment. Hope you two are staying warm today it’s also cold here in Kentucky. Lisa and Donald
Hi from Neosho MO! Greenhouse Question; I have a Growers Solution greenhouse with the roll- up sides; but it’s the short wall. Last summer, tomatoes did good in spring, not much in summer- way too hot in there (40% shade cloth on half). So I pruned them back hard in September and then they went crazy until December!! Trying to figure out what to change; thinking maybe shade cloth the whole thing….what do you think?
Watermelon. I got Blacktail Mountain from Baker Creek. It's supposed to be a 12 pound melon and thrive most anywhere. I haven't grown it yet, but it might work for you.
Long time viewer, first time commenter. I grew bush sugar baby watermelon last year and it was perfect! My criteria were much like yours. The vines only got 3-4 feet long, producing two or three small watermelons each.
Nice video. We woke to 1 degree the past couple of mornings her in WI. Stay warm. I also love the fact that the new cafe is named after your grandfather! Cool❤
Thats so strange about the garlic! Sorry it doesn't help your digestion. For most people it is super helpful for digestion. Man no sliced ham and no garlic, two of my family's favorites! :P
Greetings from Benton County, north west of you. In a previous video you were talking about your well house and how you use your heat lamps. I always found them unpredictable with burning out. Short bulb life. I use a small space heater, and I have a thermometer where the receiver is in the house and the transmitter is in the well house. With a glance I can see what the temp is at any time. The thermometers last about 2 years. I’ve been doing this for 4 years so I find it very trustworthy.
I had a very good experience with aphids this year. I had milkweed planted for butterflies, and they were covered with aphids all summer and fall. There were no aphids on any of my vegetable plants anywhere in my garden.
Here, in western Washington, the temperatures have been in high 30s and low 40s. It's been wet, but there are a few hours in between rain showers and not too windy.
SARAH Have you made fermented cheese with lactobacillus reuteri, inulin, milk, cream? It tastes like cream cheese. I used BioGaia brand and an instapot. I just use a strainer to separate solids. I have not pressed or aged it.
Highly recommend a garden journal and a small calendar to document do'/dont', ideas, big/small events, etc throughout the year. Keep it simple and brief. Will hopefully avoid forgotten ideas and rewatching video's saving time in the long run.
I used to hate beets until my daughter fed me a casserole made with grated carrots, beets and chopped onion baked with cheese on the top, now I even enjoy plain roasted beets, very weird how that just happened.

Bwahahaha Kevin 😂😂…you are spot on!…”I have never had a recall on my garden”…well said my friend!
Kevin I grew sugar babies watermelons this year. They are bigger than cantaloupe and round
Ants are kind of aphid ranchers. They will tend the aphids, move them around, etc. and feed off of the honeydew the aphids excrete.
Strict Carnivore doing great. Plants produce oxalates for a reason. Can you do a video of year long feed for quail, chickens, rabbits etc.
Missouri here as well! I may need some seeds if youll be selling some im new to this but want to grow this year 😊
