Welcome to Salty Dawg Homestead. I have over 11 years of experience homesteading. My Salty Dawg Homestead channel is a channel by a retired Soldier and former Marine who set roots in rural Thomaston, Georgia back in 2021. Here, you'll find a variety of content - from property development and DIY projects to gardening tips, hunting land setup, and the sanctuary I'm creating with my chickens, turkeys, and rabbits.
I struggle with my mental health, and I find that working the land and being one with nature really helps me cope and fight back the demons. So, please bear with me as I work toward letting people into my world.

Just came across your channel, really appreciate your honest approach and completely agree about certain things being man-made. That's one of the reasons we have started a homestead, you know where your food came from. Liked and subscribed!
I am right there with you. I sometimes wonder if things are not being done on purpose or blown out of proportion. Just always cook food properly that you buy and you will be okay.

@@mckennahicks5259 the turkey house doesn’t have any plywood on the exterior walls. I’ll have to show what I mean in a video. The back of the enclosure is actually the side of the chicken coop.

@@Bigdogdiesel No I don’t. I just let the deer have them and what they don’t eat I let decompose and feed the soil microbial life.
I know the bird flu has been around for years, but it seems to be more worrisome than ever right now. There isn't much I can do. The only precautions I have done is I didn't put out my bird feeders this winter and I started feeding my chickens in their coop instead of outside in their pen. I really just hate all of this ugh.
