The Audi looks well set up in this rally and this would be its last ever event after the tragedy. This exact car had 600ps and now belongs to a collector in Monte Carlo.

It does, but Walter makes a hell of difference as he was the one who suit it better . You can still see it having difficulties with the hairpins, due to the long wheel base and some understeer in the fast corners though it´s difficult to understand because everyone seemed to have a lot of problems with the amount of people standing by the road nevertheless

A quei tempi i rally avevano come protagonista diretto anche il pubblico che partecipava giocando ad una sorta di "Russian roulette" Il rally di Portogallo sotto questo aspetto era molto famoso e non a caso è stato il primo protagonista nella tragedia che ha visto la rs200 di Santos falciare decine di spettatori. Era comunque una prassi che si poteva vedere praticamente in ogni prova del mondiale. Io stesso con gli amici ricordo i rally di Sanremo che passavamo con gli amici a "gareggiare" su chi si spostava più tardi al passaggio delle auto in prova speciale.
