A bit about the homing darts, if you have your lock-on priority set to camera direction, you can do a quick glance around without needing to switch to over-the-shoulder view when locking on. I think lock-on priority is often overlooked, I'd recommend who finds locking on uncomfortable taking a look at this option. It's especially useful when you're constantly dashing around and shooting.

( this is irrelevant, just a fun one ) - Fallen Impact and launcher photon blast, both can starting another PA before the action end, however becareful that firing 2nd fallen impact cancelling the first one, and switching to other weapon before the dmg effect finish effectively make the PA/photon blast deal 0 dmg until you switch it back. Good job making ranger guide :D
A good ranger is like a human with a laser pointer sorounded by 7 cats. They need to point at where to hit with their weak bullet. Hence max weak bullets is essential
Amazing guide, just what i was looking for... i just noticed the launcher on ngs being more DPS focused for bosses instead of what it used to be on PSO2 (used mostly for mobbing)... So for me, rifle and launcher switched places... not the rifle being more useful for mobbing and refilling PP and now i use the launcher to kill bosses faster. Subscribed btw, amazing content. PD: i play with controller, so not much manual aiming playstyle atm.
You can actually spam the homing shots and then use launcher's charge attack to stay flying for a REALLY long time while also dealing a lot of damage due to launcher's nature, by far the best class to clear thrash mobs while farming but lack a lot of damage compared to other classes when it comes to single target.
Yeah, pretty much. Every pro comes with a con! Ranger could probably out DPS many classes, but the only way they can is by using fear eraser which leaves them vulnerable unfortunately. If you're able to have good positioning and avoid aggro, I think ranger can keep up though! Thanks for the comment!

This is in addition of course to using the PP conversion.

Another odd tip I can give is hug behind a big mob while using homing shots. If there are plenty of small mobs behind the large mob, all the homing shots will smack right into the big mobs first as it needs to travel. Big dps right there~
If you take gunner as subclass you get spread shot (allowing for 2 more points in the ranger tree) and a ton of PP recovery on hit that scales with dash attack hitting multiple targets, getting you to full on 1 single attack
Force PP conversion reminds me of a skill Black Mage in FFXIV had until an expansion or so ago when they changed it to no longer consume HP (it makes a lot of sense for FFXIV where frequent unavoidable raidwide damage exists, PSO2 all damage is avoidable)
don't forget the ranger rifle charged weapon action if you press a directional button while holding it you will throw a grenade on a locked on target, if you hold it with no movement input you'll set an aoe mine.
Go ranger/ force + rifle/launcher weapon and a saber/wand weapon. Launcher rifle for blind and eraser and saber wand for the reflect for extra defensive plays plus all my status damage. Multi weapons really open the game up for so many different weapon and class builds
I would say sticky bomb quick reload is actually a really good skill. It is situational, but effective when used right. Timing it with Fear Eraser and you can keep beaming away. Only cost 1 point as well.
Well, it only increases the frequency that you can do that strategy. I wouldn't prioritize it first, (since the other skills are so much more impactful) but I would recommend picking it up eventually!

Great guide and it's helped me a lot 👍. Any idea where the Resurgir weapons drop? I've had loads of the other 4star rifle and launchers, but never seen this type?
The drop from any area (vanford, resol, magnus) just randomly. At least from what I've heard. They seem to be pretty rare at least in my experience. A new finding suggests that a 3* weapon with high inherent affix (not the official name, but the red affix) can outperform a 4* weapon without it, so a 4* is unnecessary unless you want to go all out and grind really hard.
Yeah, the reduced cooldown is really nice, especially if you're the only ranger! Also the bad condition ward skills aren't worth putting those extra points into, so you'll be fine!
Have you ever tried out the dodge attacks of rifle and launcher? Keep holding attack and use dodge. I find these attacks do good damage aswell, and they also offer mobility and dodging. Not sure about the DPS though.
That's how the default lock on system works, weirdly enough. If you change your lock on priority to camera direction, then you can do the homing darts lock on by just turning the camera with even wider field of view than on over the shoulder camera and without needing to spin if anyone's uncomfortable with it. :)
I'm completely new to the game, but I very much prefer the regular dodge over the weapon action when using a rifle. For the rifle the normal attacks can be interrupted by an evade (I already noticed that's not the case for a bunch of other weapons,) and you can just keep holding the button down, fire a stronger shot or maybe even a counter. But the weapon action feels like it really interrupts my flow. Speaking of counters, many of the enemies' attacks are spaced really well, so that I can just chain counters when I am being targeted. Anyway, great guide. Now I finally know why the Blight Rounds marker turns purple, and I heard about rifle launcher dual weapons being good, but now that I've seen it in action, I'll try making one. Sadly, I only have the foursis rifle so far. Also, unless I'm mistaken Resurgir benefits from the evade. I mean the potential ability... not sure what it was, but I think it activates on a perfectly timed evade?
Something that's changed since I uploaded this video is people saying that 3* weapons with a high level fixa augment (can't remember what they're officially called, but they're red.) Can do just as well as 4* weapons while being cheaper. Something to think about.
Sweet man I just got to level 19. I came from the Ultima server playing the original pso blue burst. I have EVERYTHING there but I accidentally punched my laptop screen and it broke surprisingly haha. Anyway I decided to check out NGS so far liking it but don't have many friends yet. If you can add people from Xbox live I'd be down to play sometime if you have room for a ranger x]
What are your thoughts on removing normal attack and just replacing it with weapon action button, since it gives you a dodge, attack, and pp regen? I dont like switching to subpalette often lol
Off the top of my head, I believe you regen more PP and deal more damage by normal attacking over spamming WA. If you can, use normal attack for these scenarios, but it's not necessary! Whatever's comfortable for you. The game's not hard enough yet where you have to optimize everything!
@@Yuberz Thanks for the reply, yeah just wondering cause in most ranger videos i never see them use normal attack, its mostly just the WA. So I thought i might as well get rid of it lol and with force sub I dont feel down bad on pp
@@Yuberz well people usually do that because targets moves. Like a lot and people wanna to make their target in their sweet spot. Weapon action does attack and movement really well so a lot of people spam it
still looking for a good single target dps. i spam dive kick as a RA for downed enemies after shoot them with blight bullet. it is very useful, and also does not cost pp. but i want to find a multi-weapon for my RA to deal most dps.
You can find it. You have to search with the exact name, then search by price, even if the auto-correct doesn't show anything. For the weapon screenshots in this video, they didn't appear for me initially. I really hate that about the personal shop :|
I would Recommend AGAINST maxing PP conversion first, and instead take points from PP conversion to use in other Force skills you want. If 400% at level 1 and passive 150% isn't enough for your PPdysfunctionBegone(TM), then the problem is you and your lack of Normal's. Putting more points doesn't hurt, so its better than a Force skill you wont use, but compared to a Force skill you will use the difference is too negligible to both dps and playstyle.
Well, remember that this is a guide that focuses on ranger first. If I were to play force main class and use rod as my main weapon, I would definitely redistribute the points differently. The build presented in this video is for players who only want to play ranger, with a little wiggle room consideration. I found that the convenience of PP conversion for ranger is incredibly important for the class, (refilling PP after fear eraser, spamming razing shot, and spamming homing darts being the main reasons) and the other skills not being useful for rangers who use rifle/launcher. Hence why I recommend maxing it out. In the end, I'm not saying it's the only thing you can do. You're free to make your own decisions on your own skill tree.
Should I make the launcher or the rifle the multi weapon? It feels opposite from pso2, like the rifle feels better for mobbing and the launcher is better for single target. Also if I max one and multi do I have to max the other?
I don't think it matters which you combine first, but citation needed. I do not know if there's any difference. I know for sure that you only have to max out one weapon. Whichever weapon is first will have its enhancement level, augments, etc. transferred to the second.
@@Yuberz Thank you for the guide and quick response! Tbh now that I think about it I only use rifle for weak bullet, spread shot occasionally, homing shot, and grenade traps. I think I’ll make GL the base it seems more fun. Subbed
So for creating a multi weapon, what should be the base weapon is it the rifle or the launcher? also do i need to enhance and limit break both of them first before turning it into a multiweapon
I'd recommend searching for a proper weapon guide or someone more knowledgeable about multiweapons, but I'm not sure if the base weapon matters. As for enhancing and limit breaking, you can do it afterwards I think. The base weapon's enhancement level and augments will transfer to the second weapon.
Nope! Even if it was really good, blaze shot deals equal damage per shot but also fires a bit faster (albeit using PP, which can take a bit to regenerate) Launcher's Fear Eraser also does way more DPS, so does launcher's normal attack, rifle's uncharged razing shot can also deal more damage, etc. I encourage you to try doing some testing to verify these claims and see how each stacks up. Also you can play however you want, normal attack to your heart's content.
I haven't tested that, but I think that the base damage increase of a 4* will make it better once it's upgraded a lot. It might be better than a low level or unleveled 4* resurgir weapon though. Edit: I've been hearing that 4* weapons aren't very much better than 3* and even 2* weapons (Like, 5% or something? Azelyra was talking about it on their stream last night) so maybe it's not worth investing in high rarity gear, who knows?
@@Yuberz im new to pso2, but i thiught the blue numbers were crits. Would that make it so that blighted rounds are always considered crits? If thats the case, wouldnt the min/maxed option be, resurger with critic potenency? I just think its smarter and more cost efficent to buy a 100k thesus rifle with implicit crit potency or portency lvl 5 vs a 2mil resurger rifle with potency on it. Not only that, the resurger is situational and requires perfect upkeep. Whats your thought on that? :)
@@StacemanYT Yeah, people are talking about how the cost efficiency of lower rarity weapons is way better for the average player than going for 4*. I'm personally just going to build whatever falls into my lap. If a really great theseus rifle shows up, I'm absolutely going for it! It seems like you're also leaning towards the theseus stuff, so definitely go for it!
True, that's an option, but you're forgetting that augments and grind level transfer from the first weapon to the second when making a multi weapon. I haven't mathed it out, but I think a multi-weapon might actually be more cost effective.
If you progress through the main story, you'll eventually be forced to make a multi-weapon. The gist of it is that you have to go to the item lab and then you duct tape 2 weapons of the same series together (primm for example) and boom! It takes the stats of whatever you use as the first weapon, from what I've heard. (enhancements and augments)
this video: oh yes... go force so that you can get pp.... me: but gunner gives you attack pp recover... so wtf is the point of force when it abilities are taking your health away and require an active.....
Because PP conversion takes away miniscule amounts of HP while providing almost instant PP regeneration. I tested gunner as a subclass, and the additional PP skills were much slower than PP conversion, especially when using PP heavy PAs like razing shot and multi-launch as well as recovering PP after fear eraser. By all means, if you think gunner is a better subclass, go for it. Gunner definitely isn't the worst subclass you can pick.
@@Yuberz I'm really not seeing how the pp is slower, unless you plan on just using pp skills almost exclusively, but at that point you mine as well use force as the main class since their pp skills dish out more dmg???
A bit about the homing darts, if you have your lock-on priority set to camera direction, you can do a quick glance around without needing to switch to over-the-shoulder view when locking on.

Weapon action does attack and movement really well so a lot of people spam it
still looking for a good single target dps. i spam dive kick as a RA for downed enemies after shoot them with blight bullet. it is very useful, and also does not cost pp. but i want to find a multi-weapon for my RA to deal most dps.
we dont have Resurgir Launcher in the game right now though? at least i couldnt find it in the market
You can find it. You have to search with the exact name, then search by price, even if the auto-correct doesn't show anything. For the weapon screenshots in this video, they didn't appear for me initially. I really hate that about the personal shop :|

Bad condition could be good with giga equipment
Also are these weapons still good that you recommended?
Is it weird that I multiweaponed both rifle and launcher?
Nope! In fact, that's what I do. It's optional but I like it a lot.
im tryna find a video that shows the best augments for ranger..... still looking.
Well, if you want my two cents, I'd personally go with augments that boost max PP!
You recommend rifle or launcher as the main weapon?
Rifle for mobbing and supporting, then switch to launcher for bossing.
i don't know why but i feel normal atk with rifle is the strongest and goodest atk for dps...
What about a thesues rifle with inherent crit activation (red stamp next to potential? would that outweigh a resurgers rifle?
It seems like you're also leaning towards the theseus stuff, so definitely go for it!
multi weapons arent necessary save those resouces and get used to quick switching weapons
True, that's an option, but you're forgetting that augments and grind level transfer from the first weapon to the second when making a multi weapon. I haven't mathed it out, but I think a multi-weapon might actually be more cost effective.
Very informative tks
Might be a dumb question, how do you get a multi weapon?
If you progress through the main story, you'll eventually be forced to make a multi-weapon. The gist of it is that you have to go to the item lab and then you duct tape 2 weapons of the same series together (primm for example) and boom! It takes the stats of whatever you use as the first weapon, from what I've heard. (enhancements and augments)
@@Yuberz alright thanks, only about lvl 12 ranger so bit more to go.
How best Fixa for Ranger?
Pretty much everything except crit damage (Fixa Termina) is fine, I think I heard that Fixa Fatale might be better than Fixa Attack by a small margin.
ore wa gundam daaaaa
do force!
could ranger gunner be good
It's *probably* the second best subclass, but I'm not sure why you'd use it over force.
@@Yuberz oh ok i just thot it would be funny
Been giggling at PeePee since PsUniverse days
the main problem that if you play only NGS you can't get rifle+launcher
What do you mean? You can get both rifle and launcher as random drops in NGS.
They said fuck NL and BE i said nordvpn ftw
this video: oh yes... go force so that you can get pp....
me: but gunner gives you attack pp recover... so wtf is the point of force when it abilities are taking your health away and require an active.....
PP
At some point I'm gonna have to say the whole "photon points" to avoid this lmao
