      He absolutely could make a difference in BATB if the skaters took his advice seriously! It’s kinda lame seeing guys who don’t really give a crap about competing but at the same time chill games like that I sometimes enjoy the most (Curren and Louie just vibing was fun). I think there’s only a handful of guys that really take it as a serious competition. Jamie, Cody C, and Tyler I think have the most winning mindsets based on how they play.

    Griffin defies the common idea that “defense wins tournaments”. Just by overwhelming opponents with aggression (hard tricks), he’d rather end the match before they can fight back. Maybe he’s a glass cannon? Either way, that play-style is always a crowd pleaser. He’d probably play captain falcon in smash bros.

    I think if Luan battles Jamie in round 3 and Luan does all his 360 switch and nollie tricks and that switch fs 540 he does he will beat Jamie…..I know Luan has weird tricks as well ( like the Merlin twist) it would be interesting to see if Luan could defend any daggers Jamie throws at him

      You’re absolutely right with the spins! Totally forgot Luan can do a freakin 540 on flat. Jamie struggles with nearly every popped 360 and Luan has every one on lock so that’s his best gameplan for a win. But as DD said, that game is going to heavily depend on who wins roshambo.

    • @mclarensaleenf7
      @mclarensaleenf7 10 місяців тому +1

      I know you’re asking DD but I’ve been thinking about best 2/3 since the Jamie vs. Sewa game. It really sucked to see two of the best play yet only one got a chance on offense. Sewa pulling the double forward flip was insane though! I think game 2 should be loser goes first, then game 3 loser of previous game 2 goes first. I honestly think one game is too short for many of these guys (especially anyone playing Griffin or guys who specialize in wild tricks that aren’t commonly done by pros).

    • @dannyfanclub8902
      @dannyfanclub8902 10 місяців тому +2

      @@mclarensaleenf7 totally agree, I would have loved to see Sewa set some tricks and test Jamie's defense and that's what got me thinking.
      2/3 would be better doesn't really solve it because still one player would get more turns to set. I think it should be one game but each player gets an equal amount of turns to set. So in this game after Sewa got SKATE, he would have a turn to set tricks. If he gives Jamie SKATE without giving up possession then it goes into game 2/bonus round/sudden death.
      Bonus round could be where letters reset and each player gets 1 turn and whoever is winning after one turn wins. If it's tied then they do another set of turns until someone has a lead.
      It just bothers me so much that SKATE is not a fair game, especially at the highest level with people like Jamie. It would also be so much more entertaining to just see longer games, crazy comebacks, and sudden death situations.

You also have to take into account how nervous he must have been on such a big stage for the first time, not wanting to let people down, on foreign soil and competing against a couple legends in that final. I suspect that, second time around, he'll be a little less nervous in general, which is kind of scary to think about. That said, sometimes nerves can get you through and complacency is just as deadly

      @@jakubbriza7274 damn I got confused, I meant Jamie, but now I see he threw scissors then rock, my mistake. But I still think both of them saw this video and Jamie went straight for the scissors.
      The bad thing is Zach couldn't keep up with all the tricks he needed to have in order to beat Jamie. Dumb data specifically remarked the hardflip and the biggerspin and Zach got letters for those.
      His double flips on defense were fire tho.

  • @bdzsana
    @bdzsana 10 місяців тому +1

    But doing fundamental tricks is a double edge sword. You can expect that he will fail one of the shovit or bigspin accidently, but you can also
    fail doing those tricks in offense giving zero letters to him and giving the opportunity back to him.

    • @mclarensaleenf7
      @mclarensaleenf7 10 місяців тому +2

      And that’s why he said in the video, one of the three main points to beat Jamie, to know your fundamentals well. Luan went over 50 tricks in a row because he has his fundamentals absolutely locked down. But there’s risk with any trick, just up to the skater based on how consistent they are with their specific fundamentals. By fundamentals he means tricks the skater should be able to do like 19/20 tries

  • @radspiderjackson
    @radspiderjackson 10 місяців тому

    lol the thing is, you can forgo the 3rd tip to beat him, because if you can 'pull off' the first two then you literally cant lose a game against anyone... that third tip is pretty much saying you have to be able to beat anyone PLUS practice specifically to beat Griffin, which makes sense after the wins we've seen from him lol

    I miss when finals night had legends of skateboarding like PJ, P-Rod, Mike Mo, Shane O’neill, Corey Kennedy, Luan, Sewa, or Joslin. These flat ground only skaters need to be stopped. Or else it’ll be Griffin or Tyler Peterson storming their way to the end every time

    • @AlwayzSkateboarding
      @AlwayzSkateboarding 10 місяців тому +9

      What’s wrong about that? The legends you talk about are still legends because they can do all of that shit even down huge gaps or in rough spots. That’s why people like them are winning in completions like street league and stuff. Griffin would absolutely be fucked there.
      But when he has a talent to throw down insane tricks at a flatground tournament people should also pay respect for that. It’s something different and that’s fine, cause skateboarding is freedom and don’t need any specific rules like other sports

      @@AlwayzSkateboardingI agree with your point as well as the original comment. It’s tough. These guys literally have nothing but flat ground so it seems lame when compared to the guys who have a well rounded ability and can also skate flat. Idk. It’s weird. Maybe Jamie and Giger types should expand their horizons. But then again if focusing on flat is what they truly love, then who am I to criticize a person enjoying what they love

    • @AlwayzSkateboarding
      @AlwayzSkateboarding 10 місяців тому

      @@allstopblue5717 yeah exactly. I totally can see where they are coming from. But on the other hand we can see the difference with giger. He can do insane weird tricks - but he isn’t consistent enough to do them in a tournament. But Griffin has them on lock and that’s really impressive. It’s not like we have a pandemic with young „tik tok skaters“ like someone said. Because most of them need too many tries to land those tricks or can’t do the normal ones that good
