She's more than a star, she's a chameleon and she has huge balls. This is a huge switch up from her Sonny and Cher days and she did it to reinvent herself from a bad reputation from the tabloids in the late 70's. She pushed herself against all odds and took huge risks that paid off. She's one of the few that deserves her "iconic star" status.
The fact that Cher isn't in the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame is a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!
That is a piss take, I didn't realise that.
Oh my goodness. Just listening to this single track is worthy for her consideration into the Hall.
She's overdue if ever anyone was.

The fact that Bon Jovi wrote this song and helped her record it just made this song that much special.
Richie Sambora and Desmond Child also co-wrote it with Jon. It's amazing how hard rock and heavy metal musicians have written some of the most finely crafted power ballads of all time if you look at what bands like Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Scorpions, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Metallica have done in terms of ballads.
I suggest you to search the live version made by richie sambora in 1998. You find it even on spotify
The power voice, the power hair, the power body. For me Cher in the late ‘80’s & early ‘90’s was at her edgiest & best 🖤
It's certainly something of a power bed she's throwing herself around on Stephen!
It's funny....I love Cher, more than Madonna, but I'd never call her truly edgy, because she's so sincere, so in a way, sure, she's up there almost naked, but totally truthful and wholesome at the same time, not that I'm averse to a bit of fun pop nudity!
I’m willing to bet that most, by 1987, had written her off as a lost cause. Then she dropped this and everyone shut up. She was on fire here, and no one could touch her.
Cher rocked so hard here. The songs, the melodies, the production; it was all so slick and tight. When she had material like this to sing-widescreen melodies to show off that thundering contralto-she was utterly on fire. And this is a prime example. No one can touch her here.

Thia was all greatly done in the late 80's. No need for mastering. There's no "new" mastering here. Maybe it was done addional work in 1992 for the greatest hits album, but that's it. It's funny how people think 80's was a stone age regarding music but it's the other way around. Today all forces are in together to capture maybe 30% of the 80's sound. 90% of the (real) mix masters are dead or retired. No money, no music.

I love her rock songs. Her voice suits that genre.
I think she can perform any genre. I think she could have done heavy metal if she wanted and she would have assembled the top musicians, songwriters and producers in that industry (such as the guys from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Metallica etc) had that been the case.
But ultimately yes, I reckon she was most shimmering performing rock and adult contemporary songs.

Everybody is familiar with Cher's unique singing style today, but can you imagine what it felt like hearing that deep, outstanding voice for the first time back in the sixties? It was a true sensation, so different, sometimes rather mannish, but always moving and beautiful! This is is my favourite song by her, in part because of its deep lyrics. Hallo na klar aus Deutschland und sogar 91er Jahrgang . Da wird sich wohl so mancher fragen warum ich solche Musik höre ganz einfach ich höre Querbeet je nach Laune aber die 80er Musik ist einfach noch was ,,Musikalisches‘‘ dagegen ist die heutige meiste Musik ein Witz . Weil man früher noch das Instrumentale noch sehr sehr geschätzt hat nicht wie heutzutage wo alles nur noch über PC meist gemacht wird .
Noch was Cher ist mit Tina Turner weibliche Musik Inspiration mehr muss ich dazu nicht sagen ,dazu zähle ich auch noch Madonna .Da gibt es viele von früher für die man nur Respekt und große Anerkennung zollen kann.

I never get tired of watching this video! She looks amazing! This is my favorite Cher video because the camera focuses on her 99 percent of the time with no distractions. It's as if she's one on one with me singing.. Love when she looks directly at the camera!!! I enjoy eye contact and hearing the words at that moments of the song! Lots of passion there!
