Upscalers ruined gaming development. They should stop depending on that mindset both devs and manufacturers. Get the game to run at its hardware target then put upscale for the illusion that it is more than that.
Beg to question AGN for Silent Hill 2! Was the game originally on the ps5 ported to pc! If that's the case, then performance on the game is horrendous! The fps is everywhere especially on pc!
That is why it is best to simply be a fan of your wallet so you can see the real problems in real time, assess it, and then make the right choice at the right opportune moment. AMD, NVIDIA, INTEL, and Sony now apparently all love to screw over their loyal customers in all directions by overpricing products that don't deliver as well as they should and with false promises. 1) The PS5 Pro is a horrible console with only 5% to 15% increase in power at a ridiculous price compared to the refreshed PS5, unlike the PS4 Pro, which was 40% to 50% more powerful than the PS4 which was a great buy for "anyone." 2) Nvidia, Amd, and Intel all series cards from the prior 2 generations till now suck and are overpriced. The only credit I give right now is to Intel for their GPU card, the ARC B580, which is a very promising GPU card that is well priced. Is it perhaps because Intel is finally listening to customers? Only time will tell because they have a lot of work to do on their new line of CPUs, while the rest literally don't care what customers want or say. 3) The less and less customers become fan boys/girls and blindly throw money away to become smart shoppers again, the more and more companies will yet again make great products and price them properly no matter how the market goes. But, perhaps, that is just wishful thinking on my part. Until then, I'll continue to do what I've always done and be patient for when the price is right and the better product is actually made with all proper patches completed and then snag it. I don't care for being the first to have the latest tech, but always enjoy getting what I want later for the right price and in a better state than when people first bought it.
So why have most developers made their games work perfectly on the pro? Callisto protocol is a perfect example, a 3rd party game that didnt need to make the pro update and succeeded at it. Remedy have dropped multiple updates to fix AW2 and EA have acknowledged the issues. Bloober team have dropped one update with a written lie in its notes “ps5 pro graphical issues fixed” with zero communication after ignoring anyones issues, lets not forget this developer are well known for leaving games broken with bugs unresolved. Evidence tells me this is a developer issue but i agree that SONY have a responsibility to make sure these games aren’t broken on launch. Games should be polished on release and work 99% of the time…
Bro I bought a pro and regret it. I will go pc after this. It's clear that Sony is finessing. From shitty analog sticks to the pro console it's just about money. My thing is before the pro dropped you know they test played Alan wake ,SH2 and basically all the top games and they seen they look like shit on pro but dropped it anyway. Imagine dropping the console knowing the games look worse . Unacceptable!Wish I could get money back at this point but it's all good was a 750 Sony learning lesson

As of right now, you may regret it, but in a years time, you’ll appreciate that upgrade.. I do have a pc (i9 12900k and rtx 3090) and there’s a time and place for pc gaming.

@@STEEZY3AMI don’t have a 3090 but I’m on 3070, I can assure you the problem with PC is not performance but WHOLE system (I have 2 monitor and a PC) and different game always have different problem. I’m a IT guy so I fix those quick however, I only have time to game on weekends, so I really appreciate the 10min (sometimes even more) of configuration that PS saved me from, every week.
Don’t you know every developer and publisher, NVIDIA and AMD got together in a room around a table and colluded together to make PiSSeR bad. It’s not a Sony thing it’s an everyone else issue

Just think about this: - no developer, NO DEVELOPER will dedicate additional time and resources to implement additional features if there is no incentive. - what incentive PSSR gives? None. Game will possibly look better and will be more stable, because of additional power. That is it. No additional work needed. Why would I invest in testing, PSSR limited scope implementation etc. Why? - the only way if there are money in this. I can hardly attract new players because of limited PS5 Pro base, and these are mostly existing players. - most likely Sony provided some incentives - investment for implementation of PSSR to specific studios. You seem angry that it does not match a very high end PC costing more than $2,000. The PS5 Pro is not a main stream console. It is an elite console for the enthusiast at a price that can deliver the required tech. Those that want it have bought it and love it. Those that do not want it are not the target audience. It's the best console I have ever owned. I have all 58 of my favourite classic games installed on a 4TB SSD and they all run great. Don't knock PSSR. It's just an AI upscaler like all the others. It takes time for machine learning to improve the algorithm model. It will be updated regularly, and get better and better. Only a fool compares a model that has been trained over a longer period with new model and says mine is better. It's a case of "My son is more intelligent than your son because he has been at school longer." To be honest PSSR has been trained quite substantially and is not far behind DLSS. Machine learning is iterative. The games that run crap with PSSR not feeding it a clean image. Upscalers fail when the source image has lost the sub pixel detail due to compression or noise. Sub pixel detail is ghosted across the existing pixels. Our eyes can see it by filling in the blanks, but when you zoom in you loose it. AI upscalers calculate the sub pixel detail and create new pixels to display it, so when you zoom in you do not loose the detail. Image artefacts kill the sub pixel detail stone dead, so the upscaler can't produce new pixel detail. The flickering we see in Avatar is the AI upscaler hunting for the detail in each frame, resulting in an image that is not temporarily stable.
