I have had my 2311 compact for several weeks now. Initial rounds it was tight but now more of a break in period shoots very nice and accurate. Shot it with a Staccato C2, bul armory 4.25 and a P229. It was very impressive and no failures or hiccups. Only issue was getting red dot secure but now all good. Compares well and sig mags work great.
Thank you for your comments. I've had some issues with mine to work through but all-in-all it's been a solid gun. I'm working on a follow up video, for a 2,000 round review and final thoughts.
I have had my Oracle arms 2311 compact for several months now. I know each one is different, but my compact has no play in it and I can open a new jar with assistance, so I think I am strong enough. I have a Staccato CS, C2 and P, and agree it may not be a staccato because it is an Oracle Arms, but it is a very nice smooth gun. It is a first production, but even so the gun shoots accurate, it is easy to breakdown and clean and it has a nice smooth rack. I really like mine! If I had to choose I would go with the bul armory 4.25 TAC, now that gun is smooth.
@@Thomas-vt7cz Yeah not for everyone. This gun is why I started a YT channel because of the hype train. I’ve made it a lot better to shoot for me but the magwell so far forward it throws my shooting off. Once I get the grip stippled it will have better ergos for me. I will say the gun is really fun to shoot but the quality is lacking for me.
The only thing hold me back on the compact is like you said is grip length. I get the fact it’s supposed to be a ccw option but a I’m a g45 fan boy and like full grips. I mean m&p is a 4.25 with a full grip and conceals great. Thanks for the review
Excellent run down. I also have the OA 2311 compact. I mounted the EPS carry and with that plate, my sights are barely visible. I also had the same issue with my iron sight plate.
Thank you Sir. I think they missed the mark on the co-witness. How is your fitment? As you can see mine has a lot of play. I’m going to ask OA to replace or repair my gun. Everyone else’s seems to be tight and might have gotten a lemon.
Thanks for the detailed honest review appreacite it. I was considering OA since their initial announcement but haven't had a chance to try them out yet though from everything I saw I think I will still wait until the Pro comes out as that would be more what I was looking for.
Appreciate the review. Your right nobody on YT has content on the compact other then at the shows. Could the movement be due to the "debris clearing channels" cut in to move any potential build up out instead of staying in causing the typical failures when not staying on top of cleaning...hoping it will be a great EDC.
Thank you for the comment. I reached out to OA and they said the gun is spec'd with looser tolerances due to being duty in nature. I do understand that to a degree but I reminded them Stuccato's are duty grade as well and have tighter tolerances. It's not a knock on OA it just stinks for me when other's with the same gun have tighter tolerances than mine. Like I a said I a have a sample size of one and not all Stuccato's aren't perfect either. Just my two cents...
I would recommend some close up macro stills while vid is ending. Fellow Thumb ledge gang here 💪 Even dremeled a thumb self in my p365x grip frame. I cant go back.
Appreciate the review, haven’t done mine yet since I’m still under the weather. My iron sight came off pretty easily, just a couple of wiggles. Also my tolerance is way better. The movement on yours is crazy, I’ve never bought a gun with that much movement. I agree with the optics plates, they could have gotten some better ones. Agree with the takedown lever being a pain. It seems like the 5 inch model has the wider thumb safeties, wish they would have put them on both. Also with all those handguns I hope you got a couple ar’s and a shotgun 😂😂😂
I was looking at this gun, but decided on P320 AXG Legion. OA’s price is steep and too many gigs on gun, so I’ll pass on OA 2311. Go Platypus 1911 for G17 mags for less than 2k.
Thank you. I own and have shot enough of 2011/DS 1911 guns that I can tell for the most part the build quality of the firearm. I did have chance to shoot it on Friday (525 rounds) and I can say the gun shoots/points really well and is more accurate than me. However, I had a lot of issues with the gun but OA wants the gun back for inspection. They were very responsive to my concerns in the video and malfunctions I had while shooting the gun. So I believe they’ll get me sorted out and she’ll be back back up and running again.
While I get wanting to compare it to the CS (I have a C2), the CS is $700 more. Not saying the CS isn’t worth it, but I wouldn’t expect this to have the same fit of a pistol that costs ~40% more.
I compared them because OA is marketing them as a a duty pistol and both are production guns and not hand fitted. So I do agree that my $2400 CS vs $2K OA isn’t dollar for dollar but my Prodigy has better fit than my OA. The other reason is for folks who are on the fence between Stuccato and OA. I figured with so few people owning both at this time that having a regular guy giving his honest feedback would be a good thing . You will also see comments below that others don’t have the same issue that I have with fit as I do. I will say that I returned my gun back to OA last week for inspection because I had alot of malfunctionsi/issues on my first range visit. I hope they will address my concerns with the gun. When the gun did shoot it was a good experience but for an extra $400-600 dollars you can get the name and reliability of a Stuccato. I appreciate the feedback. BTW: I get a Military discount so your prices may vary.
@@claymac2011 in terms of MSRP, it’s $700 more though, not $400-$600, unless somehow you didn’t pay taxes on your Staccato in your state but did on the OA. But I guess I don’t understand how that would be the case. Edit: ah okay sounds like you did the “Heroes” program with Staccato. That’s a bit of an asterisk in my mind for the price comparison as that’s not accessible to all, but in fairness OA could offer a discount themselves. If the pistol isn’t reliable then the price difference becomes even more moot. I have a Prodigy as well and that took a trip back to Springfield Armory to get working well. I do like it now, but it was in rough shape out of the box. I hope these do well because I would like to see more 2011 style options on the market, but I’m not crazy on the grip myself.
Just checked my OA out the door was $1,997.68 my CS was $2,437.19. I own a lot of guns and when I pay $2K I expect a certain standard of fit and finish. I think if you had shot and felt both guns you’d agree (seeing you own C2) that if saved up the cost difference a Stuccato is the better option. This a hobby for me and for others it’s their only gun they purchase. So I feel confident in my opinion but again it’s just my opinion.
@@claymac2011 right, but from your edit above it sounds like those prices are a function of the Heroes Program from Staccato (there’s no u in Staccato my friend), assuming that’s where the discount comes from. You can look up the MSRP right on the websites. I’m not saying the functional issues you mentioned in your comment are acceptable. Do I expect a difference in fit and finish for 40% more? Yeah, otherwise that would suggest Staccato is really fleecing their customers. My Prodigy is no where near my Staccato and needed a trip back to the factory to correct some issues. In my experience the money does go somewhere.
@@Murphy82nd Yes Sir. I get all of my Stuccato’s with mil discount. I was fortunate with my Prodigy because SA worked out all kinks on their customer base😂. I love my OA and maybe I just got a turd but it’s in the shop getting fixed or maybe replaced so hopefully I can back and say it’s a great option if you don’t have the funds to get a Stuccato but at the moment I can’t do that.
I returned my gun last week to OA after having issues with FTF, not going into battery and the optics plate being loose but the screws didn’t back out. OA was great to work with on my RMA and I hope they’ll get me sorted. Thanks for your feedback.
Isn't every new gun an unproven weapon? So never buy a new to market gun? So that means, no one ever buys a new gun meaning gun manufacturers can't make new weapons cause no one will buy them? I'm sure that reasoning works for some, but if we all follow that logic, then we never get any new stuff... just my observation on that observation....
You are correct, that if everyone took this approach no one would be buy anything new. However, I did buy the gun at pre-launch, so I have no issues with buying a new manufacture's offering. I will say, there's a lot less risk when blind buying a unproven manufacture pistol vs blind buying a unproven pistol from a well established manufacture. So I can see the other side of the debate with people wanting to wait on purchasing the 2311 until they feel comfortable dropping their hard earned cash. Thanks for your feedback.
