He gets to the "and how does it do that?" with the velocity switch and I immediately go "Kraut space magic!" at the screen.
the 8x22 compact variant really completes this. very steady and i like the three burst. works well in indoor areas too
That velocity lowering device is genius. I can’t believe something similar hasn’t made its way to the AR-15 market
Probably because, if you reduce the speed of a 5,56 bullet down to subsonic level, you might as well use a slingshot with the amount of energy you have left.
@@DeHerg Do it for 300blk setups then. No need to label mags as subs or supers when you have a switch to make them all subs when you want to.
@@shred1894yeah why label my magazines when I can have an extra complicated mechanism that is prone to failure instead
@@Maxwell-ty3bf because a gas port feeding into a ball valve is so complicated
This is one of my favourite SMGs ever made, really wish they still made them just because they look so damn cool.
I first saw this gun in the "Project I.G.I. 2" game. Took a lot of research for me to find out, that it wasn't made up. Great video
Hk is literally the hipster of the gun world, first striker fired pistol, first polymer pistol, first accessory rail, first to use polygonal rifling in a pistol, first to use a under the hand guard suppressor , first to use p-cap aka the brainchild behind M-lok and the list could go on. To be honest I’ve never even heard of this Sub gun another great video from Forgotten weapons.
That's the most beautiful SMG I've ever seen ❤
The suppressor setting on the sights is surprisingly simply done, but really ingenious - nice!
HK makes me feel things I didn't know were possible to feel for guns.
I didn't know that I cared about experimental sub machine guns, yet I watched in entirety and was entertained thoroughly.
You're a sneaky guy, Gun Jesus.
I think the spring loaded stock is also really nice if you have gloves on
As are the big push-buttons rather than fiddley switches,
@@MrHws5mp The whole thing looks like it was designed to be used with gloves on: for example huge buttons and levers.
@@LoanwordEggcorn and lots of space in the trigger guard
This was a perfect technical video showing development!
Great video! super interesting learning about the missing link between the MP5 and UMP :D
8:45 I would like a 29 round burst....Just you could mag dump and then look at your opponent with a steely gaze and say.. "did I fire 29 or did I fire 30......"
Getting a contract to supply stuff to the US military must be like winning the lottery. It was sure worth them knocking up a couple of prototypes.
The prototype contract includes some funds for developing the prototypes too.
Great video as always Ian, what a cool gun.
what a great way to start the day. for some reason im thinkin bout the folgers coffee commercial but with bullets in my cup
Glad to finally see someone talk about these interesting prototypes, thanks!
great info
holy shit, so the gun from Signalis is not just a wierd mp5, but a real firerarm
Man the Sesbian Lex Horror Game is so popular they made germans IRL!
SIGNALIS mentioned
I was wondering what was the prototype of the SMG in the game. Answers that question
Thank you Ian, I learned something new today about managing gas pressures. I can't think of any other firearm that vents into a reservoir that outgases behind the bullet.
Great. More Kraut space magic 🇩🇪💥
Great! This video is very nice gift for my today's birthday. Thanks, Ian! :)
Navy: We are looking for something better than the MP5
Me: You want the impossible
*SIG* *MPX* *HAS* *ENTERED* *THE* *CHAT*
Great video! I was aware of these two firearms, but I never knew about that velocity-shifting feature of the SMG II. Very cool stuff!
SMG II: Electric boogaloo
Pneumatic, really.
I love the Gra(e)y Room videos. I'm not really and HK fanboy, but I do love their willingness to experiment and push boundaries. They've come up with a lot of cool stuff.
Someone should not only put the SMG1 in a retro-futuristic game, but change the range knob into a 30-round spinning ammo counter.
Noted.
I know of one, but it only has bursts
Its in fallout lol
Really love Ian's Forgotten Weapons channel... Always so informative... Goes in to all the interesting details.. Great work Ian.... Thank you.. 👍
"Uh-oh. The enemy is at 25m and my sights are set to 50m. Let me adjust that real quick..."
This Video is a perfekt example why I love this channel.
I wonder if or how well it works.
I never realized these were made at the US Navy's request. I always thought they were some weird design HK threw together to try and iterate on the MP5.
I'm a big HK fan and never heard of these ; Ian never ceases to amaze me....
When I die, I'd like to be cremated, and I'd like my ashes to be scattered in H&K's Grey Room.
I'm pretty confident this is entirely impossible, but a guy can dream
Well it is grey so it won't show too much.
So cool H&K guns! Like it! Thanks for video
So you're telling me that they designed a gun...with speed holes?
I always liked SMGs with forward pistol grips, in JTF2 we used so many different SMGs, we even used outdated models once or twice in training which i enjoyed
Guy 1: "So fam, what do you want to call this new SMG?"
Guy 2: "SMG"
Kraut Stealth Magic. That pressure reduction chamber is one of the coolest things I have seen on this channel.
Signalis is such a good game, I wish Germany was real...
Captured take down pins, just what I always wished the G3 had when I was trained on using it. I always wondered what H&K was thinking there. The pins isn't captive so they put holes in the stock so you had somewhere to store them when fieldstripping the gun, because we all know what happens to small parts when you do that in a ditch, right? Well just for fun they made two storage holes, which is just one short of the three takedown pins... Good one H&K! Thank you for bringing some smiles to us who used your guns...
"Who doesn't love experimental prototypes?"
- Wish I had a nickel for every time I've said that.
I love how H&K guns look and are assembled. So cool!
God I love the Grey Room.
every new video is better, happy 2020

Remember our promise.
very interesting object!
thank you for showing us!
Remember our promise
Is this He’ll?
Love the looks of those
*Ian calls H&K*
"Hi H&K, this is Ian"
H&K- "Hello, Ian, this is H&K"
Ian- "hey what's going on? Hey umm...you think I can come over and play with a couple of your SMG's , take em apart, maybe make a video showing their insides?"
H&K- 😨"...ok "😢💔
Ian just likes H&K as a friend? lol
