I picked the 6a. - Lower cost. - Lighter in weight, easier to pick up, pocketable. - Looks better i think. - 60Hz means the battery lasts longer. - I'm not a gamer and don't need a top of the line processor nor an extra +2GB of ram. - The camera bar does not stick out. It can sit flat on the table. - Would have appreciated a higher megapixel camera as i often want to zoom in to see things in the picture. - Would have appreciated wireless charging, but not with the increase in weight.
So in summary, you find the Pixel 7 marginally better in most aspects apart from the smaller size and dual colour on the 6a... but you pick the 6a nonetheless. If the question is whether you'll upgrade from the 6a to the 7, I'll stick with the 6a. If however the question is which you'll buy outright at retail price, the 7 is the better phone option in my opinion, and value-wise, it will be supported a year longer than the 6a.

I just picked up a 6a last week to replace an older Motoroaly G7 Power , I will say that th ebattery life on the G7 power is far better, as wel as fast charging, but that is it, the Pixel 6a thus far has easily outperformed the older G7 I had and personally like you guys mentioned I actually found the smaller display on 6a to be refreshing and it fits nicely in your pocket- Not going to mention the camera on the 6A as thats noted almost everywhere and hands down a great performer esp at the price- oh speaking of which I picked up my 6A for 249.00 US and tax. Thanks for your appreciation of the Pixel 6A. As a person that just purchased one here in the U.S., the price point versus performance features, was an elegant tradeoff. Very nice to see shared sentiment. My 6a replaced a broken (touch screen failure no cracked screen) Pixel 4a. That was a step up with battery life and processor speed.

I went to Best buy to feel these IRL and the 6A felt cheaply made, so I went with the 7. I miss how small and light my Xperia 5 ii was but the camera on the 7 is great
Had the 4A 5G and the only reason I upgraded was that Google made it ridiculously cheap in the USA to upgrade to the 6A. With trade in it should be $109 for the Pixel 6A. What I don't love is the fingerprint sensor on the screen. It was so much better and more responsive on the back of the phone than on the glass. The camera is to be determined so thank you for your great comparison and information.
I'm still indecisive on whether to get the 6a or 7 once the Google deals roll out next week. I'm not much for wireless charging, quick charging isn't an issue for me, the only thing I'm worried about is performance, 6gb vs 8gb, tensor vs tensor 2 chip, 12mp vs 50mp. Apart from that, I don't see much of a difference, either would be a huge upgrade for me.
I think in the long run (like 3+ years) P7 is going to fare better. 6a is already one Android generation behind. The new 50mp in P7 will be utilised to a fuller potential going forward while the old 12MP on 6a is likely the best it can ever be. Front facing camera is also better in P7.
I was in the same place roughly two weeks ago. But being somebody who keeps phones as long as possible, I decided that the pixel7 might be better long term, so I ordered the 7.
Great review. I recently got my Pixel 6a. and its indeed a bang for the buck phone for me. i dont care about 90hz and Wireless charging. battery Life is great. what i do miss is head phone jack but not a deal breaker
I think I'm deciding to get the 6A over the 7A being that there is really not a huge difference when it's only marginal it's really not a big deal so the 6A is for me.
Totally agree with your choice. I recently made the same choice for my wife's new phone. Picture of the 6A like my son and I have. I do agree with one of the other posters below. I thought the fingerprint scanner on the back was much better on my 3A and my son's 4A.
3:01 👍 Right on. I think the real reason for the Tensor chip is for copyright protection on their software. All of that information about it being better for AI purposes is bunk.
7:56 I want to point out that while GG3 came out in 2013, glass tech IMO doesn’t really matter much; if it’s glass, it WILL shatter. It WILL get scratched. I use an iPhone 14 Pro Max and I own a Pixel 6a for my Android experiences and I STILL slap on screen protectors on all my devices, no matter what kind of glass is being used.
Watching this on my 6A and grinning coz most of the so called upgraded featured in pixel 7 are not much of use for me in day to day life. Let's see what they do with 7A. I reckon it's again going to be a phone which will garner mixed reviews from the youtubers but in reality would still be a solid, smooth device. Google can fix almost all the issues they have faced in 6 and 7 series and make a near perfect Mid range phone when they launch 7a but they are too smart in not messing with the sales of the flagship device.
I grabbed the P7P. Buggiest phone I have ever owned. Gonna give them until December to push the updates that are needed on every front. In case you need a list - 1)loss of connectivity (solved by turning off wifi calling and resetting networks) , 2)Msgbox bug in google pay creating a loop that bars activity and 3)Auto-Rotate freeze (solved by restarting phone). For the first time in a decade I am looking at Iphones again.
Sorry to hear you you've been facing all these issues. We haven't had any of those on the P7. But the loss of connectivity was an issue some have been facing since the P6!
Like you I prefer to have a phone that's not too big, it's disappointing that the 6a has an inferior glass protection but I use a wallet style case so hopefully this will mitigate the older glass protection. Just ordered a 6a and it should arrive tomorrow!
You can't go wrong either way, but one advantage that the Pixel 7 has is the lossless 2x zoom. It is the value-add with which I am finding the most joy. Super rez zoom plus the lossless 2x makes even the maximum 8x zoom incredibly usable in daylight for quick snaps. Before I upgraded from the Pixel 6, I thought the better front facing camera would be the most significant change, but nope. It's definitely lossless zoom.
@@DHRME The Pixel 7 has the lossless 2X zoom. It's a sensor crop as opposed to a separate lens. It's the same feature that Apple is using on their main camera for 2x on their pro phones.
Well I purchased the 6a over a week ago since the price dropped to USD 300. Of course I watched over 10 videos to make sure I was making the right purchase since it has to last me for a while. All videos have said about the same, that it's a good device. Since I'm on 3a right now, the 6a is more than enough for me plus the price was really good.
I might go to the 6a. The 7 is so top heavy and uncomfortable and gives me fairly fast hand fatigue. It’s awkward to hold even with case. I’m baffled that Google didn’t test it out. Just hold it and see.
I've had a 6a for almost a year. It's been a good phone except twice in the last month it wouldn't charge and I had to take it in to get the charging port cleaned. I'm seriously considering the Pixel 7 to have a wireless charging option for backup.
I had to choose between Pixel 7 and pixel 6a. I owned a pixel 3 before. The price difference between 7 and 6a was still $150, but with trade in both the phones were ~$350 cheaper. After a lot of debate chose Pixel 6a and your video did affect the decision!
Nice ! Based upon your findings, and ultimately what is important to you, I agree with your decision. The only concern I might have is the front glass. I've had (still have in drawer) Pixel 3A and 4A's with broken screens. Soooooo, if the glass on the 7 were a true upgrade, I may go with the 7. The one issue for me with Pixel phones is screen brightness....even the 7P7 is not bright enough outdoors in Florida sun. Hopefully all brands will have a flagship which rivals the iP14P, in terms of brightness.
I'm assuming you've already made your decision already, but my suggestion still holds true.... get yourself a tempered glass screen protector, I highly recommend a Whitestone Dome, RhinoShield, or Zagg (I've found those to be the best fitment overall over all phones), you won't even notice it's there, and you can forget about ever damaging your phone's screen, and those mentioned are just as scratch and crack resistant as the best Gorilla glass, and if anything ever happens, you can just replace it for a couple bucks, your phone screen will be unscathed underneath. Even if you've had your phone a few months already and have a few slightly noticable faint scratches on it, tempered glass screen protectors will usually (with their adhesive layer) cover up those scratches and it'll look like you have a brand new screen.
Pixel 6a is great budget phone for people who don't care for the highest performance or best optional features. Bought one for my mother. She uses it for calls, messaging, playing Pokemon Go, reading news and snapping pictures from time to time. Personally I think if you are on a budget go for the 6a(or wait and see the 7a) or if you are not so limited - go for 7 Pro. My mother also loves the intelligent battery charge protection - she likes to keep her phones for as long as possible and she already noticed this feature activating based on her charging habits(she knows a little about batteries and improving their life span).
I agree the price is the key for anyone on what to pick between them, glad my t mobile had a great deal on a pixel 7, just add a new line which is only $15 a month and all i had to pay is $99 for it. This is my first pixel so far i love it over another phone i got for an upgrade which was the S22, feel the battery was the key for the Pixel 7.
I have used Pixel 3a, 6a and iPhone 13 Pro. So here's my feedback for someone who is confused between Pixels and iPhones. Pixel 3a was a gold rated phone except for the Performance. After moving to 6a i found the phone to be considerably fast, but not as much as any of the iPhones. However this was my first impression. After using it for a few weeks, i noticed more issues. 6a gets warmer(not hot) every time i use it, video cannot be recorded for more than 5 mins at 30 degree celsius weather. On summer days, after clicking some photos itself phone starts to show over heated warning. Portrait mode is not as good as how it was in my 3a. Edge detection fails most time and its not as good as iPhone now. Again, it doesnt blur the image properly, sometimes half of my image is blurred not the subject itself. Astro mode in Camera never turns on. Shutter speed is quite fast that image quality is compromised compared to my 3a. Overall i would say, 3a had a far better camera than 6a. Apart from this, Then finger print doesn't work most of the time on Pixel 6a. In display finger print on the Pixel 8 is also not ultrasonic and hence not as fast as flagships. Overall i would say, quality of Pixels has degraded much after switching to Tensor. I wouldn't recommend it any more.
Outsantig comparison, good job. 6a is the best deal. 330 € vs 570€ over here but i really use the zoom-tele outdoors and the more megapixels(digital zoom), brighter lens and better ois can make a difference here. I know p7p is the best on tele but too big, too expensive
I agree with your conclusion I'm likely gonna return my 7 and get the 6a again. I love the 6a like I loved the nexus 5. It just hits all the sweet spots. Also, I appreciate your no bullshit video review. Keep it up.
Well for me I went with a Pixel 7, this is my fist Pixel , have always had Samsung and I ahd bought a S22 in Sept for my birthday upgrading from a S10e. I do agree with you on the refresh rate which it had 120 which kills the battery fast. But in this case I didn't have to go from 90 to 60 unlike 120 to 60 on my Samsung. I think the refresh rate thing is overrated, but 90 is good think that what a phone should be, I seen video on the 6a , seen it had alot of issue with it unlike the 7. It isa good phone, think they a great job on this model, wish Samsung would go back how they sue to be but time change. I got my on a good deal which i can say I will keep ti for 2 years I don't switch phone every year. I think if you need a cheaper phone which money is tight then go for the 6a, think if you don't care about how good the cam is or you a hardcore user then 6a will be good if your wanting new and better cam then yes for for the 7. I feel like you don't need to have the better phone and copy everyone else, choice what makes you happy don't fololow everyone because you want to eb like everyone else. Good review, it was your choice to go for the 6a and if it make you happy then good. As for me this my first one so in time i might choice this over samsung not onyl for a good deal but ti cheaper then most smart phone.
Hey Esteban, thanks for your input - I too am upgrading from a Samsung S10. After using the Google Pixel 7 for as long as you have, do you recommend upgrading to the Pixel 7? How is the camera in comparison to the Samsung s10? I really like the s10's camera - thoughts appreciated 😊
@@gregfreeze8649 I mean I came from a 10e which still miss but the Cam is pretty good I mean it Google. It depend on the lighting which everyone is different from it from Sam to Iphone. @@WildharpieECW Thanks for your response Esteban - I ended up grabbing the Pixel 7, LOVED it, but after 2 days with it I had buyers remorse and had to go with the Pro for the extra camera. Full disclosure, NO regrets at all. This camera is amazing and the rest of the phone is equally as awesome! The size is not that much different than the regular Pixel 7 and fits in my medium sized hand just perfect.👌 It absolutely destroys the camera in my S10. Extremely happy with my decision - thanks for your input and enjoy your Pixel - I know I am! Cheers!
@@gregfreeze8649 Np, i myself wanted to get this but I had already gotten a s22 and couldn;t pay for aniother plan with a phone that was more, i trade ed in m S10e for S22 which i regret, the problem with was the battery and the lighting was just to low in the to see well. Wait. I have 6a. Battery life is terrible. Fingerprint sensor takes a minimum of 3-4 attempts, when it even decides to work. I’ve tried many times to add my FP twice, etc. That being said, I still like it but it’s a back up phone for me.
Commenting months after this video was posted, but something yall didn't seem to notice between the 6a and 7 cameras is that the 7 is handling blacks significantly better. Maybe it's just cause I'm watching on an OLED (LG C2), but to me the side-by-sides look VERY different in most of the shots. The 7 has consistently better/deeper/bolder colors and handled fine-grey-scale like the different shades of clouds, the shadowed trees, and his skin-tone much better.
@@DHRME btw, I was very conflicted over which phone to get, but I ended up ordering the 6a since it was on sale for ~$270 less than the 7. (My ~8 year old phone will fully stop working any day now, it has a ton of problems). Even though the 7 is really nice, I couldn't justify it as "twice as much money-Nice". I figured I'd get more joy if I bought a 6a now, then sell it used next year for ~$150 and get a Pixel 8 if there's bigger improvements. Is that about how yall ended up feeling too? Do you still use the 6a these days?
Goedemiddag! Nice video! I totally agree with you. I am using the pixel 6a for three month and I am really happy with it. I got some beautiful pictures out of it, the battery lasts almost two days for me (thanks to smart battery), it feels fast and the screen is bright and colorful. There is really nothing to complain. When the pixel 7 launched I give it a thought but I did not like that it is a bit bigger. Over the refrech rate: the pixel 6a has the same 60hz refrech rate as an much more expensive iphone 14 plus. But I have used the pixel 4xl for a few years and I set the refrech rate from 90hz back to 60hz to safe battery. Really I could not tell the difference. It depends on what you are using it for I think. The fingerprint sensor is clearly not the best on both pixel devices. But why is nobody mentioning the SMART LOCK function that every pixel offers. I use it all the time with mij Fossil gen 6 smartwatch. When I am near my phone it stays unlocked. Why not? That is so much better than using the fingerprint or face unlock (with the pixel 7). Keep up the good work guys. Groeten uit Zevenaar! 😉
Really great and in depth review Guys! Love the segways, side by sides, and honest/real life take on things. I am also a fan of slow charging and lighter plastic. But i prefer finger unlock to face unlock.
I want to shoot videos outdoors and I feel like the 7 would be better as soon as lighting problems arise. I might be shooting at dawn or dusk so I think I would rather spend a little more for the 7.
I'm feeling the same way. I got the 7 and was happy with in for a while but then the 6a went on sale for $300 so I had to see what that was all about. The second, I picked it up I was in love. The 7 has been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks now.
I've had 6a . Then went to 7 .then went back to 6a . Because it was cheaper Christmas. So I took 7 back saved 300 pound . I really never seen much difference. Seamed the same apart from wireless chargerin which I don't use and 90 Hz
Hi guys did you notice the horrible audio speaker sound from the pixel 7? Just bought the pixel 7 and the difference with my pixel 4a is huge !! How is this comparing with the pixel 6a ?
@@costanilas9542 agreed . I took a look at a pixel 7 in curry's. It didn't grab my attention at all. I was more curious about the pixel 6a parked next to it . i dont care about 90hz and Wireless charging.
battery Life is great.
what i do miss is head phone jack but not a deal breaker
I think I'm deciding to get the 6A over the 7A being that there is really not a huge difference when it's only marginal it's really not a big deal so the 6A is for me.
Good choice Kenneth!
Planning on buying neither one of them, but just watched it because your videos are great.
Haha thanks Anup!
Totally agree with your choice. I recently made the same choice for my wife's new phone. Picture of the 6A like my son and I have. I do agree with one of the other posters below. I thought the fingerprint scanner on the back was much better on my 3A and my son's 4A.
The pixel 5 size it's just perfect. Hope they can make another phone that size and dimensions. I have pixel 7 too.
Just picked up the 6a.. This is my first pixel and the price was perfect for me just starting out in the ecosystem
Does it have any heating issues when the camera is on? Or while charging? I saw a couple of youtube reviews stating these
@@007pappu good question.
Excellent review and comparison. Everything important was covered. Thanks Guys!!
Cheers William!
Leuke video! Ik heb de Pixel 7 gekocht afgelopen week. Camera is fantastisch!
3:01 👍 Right on. I think the real reason for the Tensor chip is for copyright protection on their software. All of that information about it being better for AI purposes is bunk.
i can to the same conclusion, went with the 6a ... great comparison
Informational, honest, chilling, and you guys got personality without being artificial. Nice video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@DHRME Good intel. The P7P is a greek tragedy mix of basic failures mixed with awe inspiring software features.

Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Nice realistic review DHRME! 👊🏻 Keep it up!
Like you I prefer to have a phone that's not too big, it's disappointing that the 6a has an inferior glass protection but I use a wallet style case so hopefully this will mitigate the older glass protection. Just ordered a 6a and it should arrive tomorrow!
Excellent comparison for midrange mobile phones need to carry 😍😍👏👏👏👏
Finally a channel that provides a definite opinion with well presented research. Thank you guys, just discovered you and subscribed!
Welcome to the channel!
Just bought the 7. Honestly, if I'd have seen your review before purchase I'd have gone for the 6a. Great content as always fellas.
Cheers Jason - the 7 isn't bad. But just not worth the price difference!
Great review! I think I’m leaning towards the Pixel 7.
a hug from brazil, this video was amazing, better than anything I've seen before, great job!
Wow, thank you!
OMG, What a great comparison! Thanks a lot! Love from Bangladesh❤
Finally a review addressing all my concerns ... thank you !!
That's the Pixel 7 Pro. Unfortunately not there on the 7.
@@DHRME The Pixel 7 has the lossless 2X zoom. It's a sensor crop as opposed to a separate lens. It's the same feature that Apple is using on their main camera for 2x on their pro phones.
It was actually the first thing that I tested when I got the Pixel 7 vs my outgoing Pixel 6.
Guys. First time watching your channel. It’s super professional. I think you do a great job. Subscribed
Welcome to the channel Steven 🙏
Great findings, and excellent review as a whole! This was enjoyable to watch.
Does it have heating issues?? I saw many videos saying it heats up when using the camera, specially while recording videos
Whatever people choose between these pixels, everyone must agree that was a solid and well compiled content here
I might go to the 6a. The 7 is so top heavy and uncomfortable and gives me fairly fast hand fatigue. It’s awkward to hold even with case. I’m baffled that Google didn’t test it out. Just hold it and see.
Just bought the 6a for 250€, best for its Price
Where ?
Nice comparision! I think one of the photos was taken in a wonderful german town called Heidelberg.
Sharp eye!

Hope you enjoy it!
@@DHRME Thank you!!
This was a very well done video guys, give yourself a pat on the back for how well presented it all was
Cheers 👊
Pixel 6a is great budget phone for people who don't care for the highest performance or best optional features. Bought one for my mother. She uses it for calls, messaging, playing Pokemon Go, reading news and snapping pictures from time to time. Personally I think if you are on a budget go for the 6a(or wait and see the 7a) or if you are not so limited - go for 7 Pro.
My mother also loves the intelligent battery charge protection - she likes to keep her phones for as long as possible and she already noticed this feature activating based on her charging habits(she knows a little about batteries and improving their life span).
Very helpful comment, thank you!
pop pop popsicles.. ice ice icicles.. test test testicle!!
That chalk white colorway of the 6a is dope... If I didn't buy the Google pixel dock for my pixel 6, I would have traded my 6 for the 6a...
Pretty much 100% with you on build & design
Thats what i call an honest review - thanks!
My ages old OnePlus 7 has 20 watt charging. What are you doing Google?
I have the 6a and I'm satisfied no complaints. 👍
In my opinion, the Pixel 7 is worth the higher price. The price performance is of course even better with the 6a.
Namaste ji Namaste. Wise decision keeping 6a over 7. Value for money aspect is diminishing in the market off lately. 6a is a hope.
🙏
Tnx , i thought pixel 6a is the best phone till 2023
So if I get the normal pixel 6 (Not the A or Pro) it's definitely worth getting over the Pixel 7
Namaste ! I do came on the same conclusion on the day Pixel 7 launched and bought the Pixel 6a same day and very happy with the decision.
Does it heat up while recording videos? I saw a couple of videos saying it does.
Keep it up.
Any heating issue and screen time
"And here's some slo-mo cat videos for the algorithm" Well the algorithm certainly heard since I immediately got an ad for cat food LOL!
😬😬😬😬
Cheers Esteban!
I saw it mroe from the price which was way better then most phone out there for the cheaper price whuch give a good cam or whatever you want in a phone. The Size not bad if you want bigger then go plus it just depend on you. Light the lighting from it as well I got a S22 first and hated the lighting from it, it hard to sue in the day light for me, and seem the Battery drain for fasy from the Pixel 7 battery is betetr for me feel like it hold up more then the s22 not to sure on the S23 you might have to look into that. If you go into store maybe try it out in display see if you like it or nto it good way to tes it, also if you do like it either get it or wait til the Pixel 8, So gar have no regreted it.
I saw the Pixel 7 but i was like I can't get another phone at full pirce but my company which was T Mobile had a plan for a new line and that phone which I only had to pay $99 dollars in the plan which the rest paid itself. I took the deal and wow the Pixel 7 is great phone, for the price it really is a smarter for people like us. Kive the size and the cam still good not a big big pic fan like that but still good. The lighting can go to 1500 or 1700 i forget what is was but the s22 could onyl go to 1300 but seem the brighter was low the colro are nice but for me havign eye issue couldn't return it i tried but they gave me the run around. But still have I heard the S23 is great phone which I wish i had waited but it too late, Still Pixel 7 my first phone and lvoe it. Hope you enjoy yoru Pro Pixel 7 look like fun phone for sure.
i'm now more convinced of 6a thanks to your video. but on the fence of whether pixel 7a would be worth the wait. ugh so hard to decide
Wait. I have 6a. Battery life is terrible. Fingerprint sensor takes a minimum of 3-4 attempts, when it even decides to work. I’ve tried many times to add my FP twice, etc. That being said, I still like it but it’s a back up phone for me.
@@hhhmmmmmmmm Thanks for sharing your experience! It's a big help 😉
Interesting observations!
Dankjewel- Smart Lock is indeed a great feature!
Really great and in depth review Guys! Love the segways, side by sides, and honest/real life take on things. I am also a fan of slow charging and lighter plastic. But i prefer finger unlock to face unlock.
Cheers Josh! So the 6a is for you?
@@DHRME It does look that way!
I want to shoot videos outdoors and I feel like the 7 would be better as soon as lighting problems arise. I might be shooting at dawn or dusk so I think I would rather spend a little more for the 7.
