    Thanks for uploading this and spreading the tip. You're helping to save countless hours of pain! 👍👍

      Thanks. I have done itva couple of times before and tested it in the John Deere ride on to make sure its all OK. Key us to leave it overnight to settle before draining it off.
      Off camera it takes 5 mins to mix it. And 10 mins the next day to drain it off. It's worth it for a mower or old machine.

      All those stupid people burning their houses down and pouring buckets of unwanted ethanol down the drain is adding to the pain. 🤣

    Next, add a lead-replacement additive.

    Removing the ethanol drops the octane rating down from ~87 to 83 - 84. I found that adding (quality) octane booster added about $3.80 per gallon to bring the octane back up to 88. I have access to non-ethanol 91 octane gasoline in the nearby town for less than the added cost of extracting the ethanol. Your're also losing 10% of your fuel when you do the extraction on E10 gas.

      i just start with premium. so ends up being 89-91 octane. plus i just use ethanol free for storing motors longer than 4 months. actually running a regularly used engine with ethanol seems to create no issues for me.

      @@ct1762 Creates no issues for anyone except the naysayers. I've been running all my classic vehicles on Ethanol blended fuel since the UK introduced it in 2008, with no issues. The latest blended fuel introduced 1 year ago now contains up to 10% ethanol, but the naysayers claimed it destroyed their engines on the day it was introduced, even though it was introduced in accordance with all the vehicle manufacturers specs.

      @@thra5herxb12s I've talked with plenty of so called ''naysayers'.
      It doesn't seem to affect everything, but the increase in number of problems with small and old engine's fuel systems definitely corresponds with the introduction of ethanol. I think you will find that if the pump you are using at your ethanol free station is a single pipe type you are pumping in 1/2 gallon of 10% before the pump line is ethanol free if it was used for 10% the time before you used it. Just do an ethanol check on your fuel.

    • @tubularfrog
      @tubularfrog Рік тому +1

      @@453421abcdefg12345 That is very possible for the type of pumping set up you described. The filling station I get non-ethanol gasoline from is a free standing pump that is isolated from the other pumps. It's an old style dial pump, no electronics. It's funny watching the gas jockey trying to figure out the charge without the pump telling him.

    Water sinks, petrol, an oil derivative, floats. So, it's water at the bottom. Couldn't you fit a tap of some kind to the bottle top, then turn it upside down and drain off the water/ethanol mix leaving the fuel in the bottle and maybe burn the ethanol later to dispose of it?

    On that Ethanol video you did 3 years ago back now. If you take poly PEX plastic clear line one shorter than the other one to set above the ethanol jelly and water at the bottom of the patrol unleaded fuel in the two liter.,or two litre plastic bottle drill two holes the same.,or about the same size for A snug fit of the lines to push through the cap twist it back on to the bottle full of fuel.,an etc. blow slightly into the shorter line to prime your hose to let drain into your one to store the ethanol free fuel in to use.

    The ethanol has a higher octane rating then petrol, so you may want to add some octane booster to make up the difference.

    I put e10 in my bike, its already made my fuel tap leak.. So it definitely eats away at fuel lines etc..
    Il just buy shell vpower from now on

    What a great work around 👏👏. I have no use for it personally. But it's going to be great use for those people
    who are looking for a way out of the situation. As you said people put taps on containers and drain it. I think
    I would use a Demi Jar (from home brew kit)Cork bung with a tap or hose with a tap. It's clear and It's strong.
    Just needs a frame to hold it in while in use.

    • @NorfolkMancave
      @NorfolkMancave  3 роки тому

      Yes to be honest I got a metal 5 gallon tank with a drain tap I use. But you can't see through it for a video. I just drain it off into a jar until petrol starts to flow. I been using it in my ride on for a few weeks now to make sure it was OK before I made a video about it. Thanks for watching.

    A few years ago a local station sold regular gas that had over 35 percent alcohol. Many loggers and other chainsaw users ruined many of their saws by running that gas. One outfit lost a dozen 1000 dollar saws. I had one quit, decided i hadn't mixed the oil in, added more oil and started another saw which i noticed was overheating and shut it down but too late. I have been removing the alcohol from all fuel for small engines ever since.

    Don't forget you have now reduced the octane rating and also washed out the detergents and some of the other additives that modern petrol contains. For lawn mower use it is cheaper to just use the super unleaded E5 petrol as you have reduced the E10 petrol by 10% and E5 is only something like seven and a half percent more expensive.
