Mae mentioned being excited about making new Popeye cartoons and I just found she auditioned for the role of Olive Oyl in Hann Barbera's All New Popeye, produced the same year as this interview, and was replaced by someone else! Imagine having a woman of Mae's talent, who not only originated the role but showed clearly in this interview that she was as good then at the voice as she ever was and passing her up!

I loved her she made my childhood and my grandpa's childhood I loved her but when I researched a little bit I finally known that she died.. I really loved her Betty Boop have been my crush for 5 years 😂 when I was a kid! Her voice is still the same even at her 80's....

And her character was very senile and absent-minded, that was a funny movie but nothing funny at all, which Mae ironically, would end up like her character. Those muttered asides Miss Questel mentioned were the best part of, and the most distinctive feature of, the Fleischer cartoons. How wonderful to see this lady when her talents were still at their height.
And the voice of Olive Oyl and even she did the voice of Popeye the Sailor in only one cartoon, Shape Ahoy, due to Jack Mercer's served by the soldiers during World War 2.
