  • Just got this cool little Gold Tone AC-mini to travel with and for my daughter to play when she’s old enough (if she wants to)
    Great little banjo, great tone.

hi,,,,I have an ac1, but the tailpiece is worthless, very difficult to replace strings.
otherwise no complaints, a nice, easy to play banjo and a nice price
    greetings from Belgium.

What issue did you have? I have a ac12 which I assume uses the style tailpiece. My main issue was that it had sharp burrs that would cut strings, used some needle files and wet sandpaper and they're as smooth as can be now and haven't cut any strings, running it with minstrel nylguts tuned down a few steps. Plan to get the ac12-fretless when it's back in stock. Was your issues mainly tying the strings? I had trouble with that early on but found an easy way to do it with a pair of pliers as a third hand.

Sounds great, Blaine! A few questions: are you planning on modifying it or do you think you'll keep it as is? AKA strings (steel, I imagine?), bridge, tailpiece, resonator? It seems very particularly designed, so I figured as-is is the way to go, perhaps? Thanks so much for this video!

@@chickenindoubleC at this time I'll keep it as is. That's no promise that I won't change it up. I may go with lighter strings and reduce the back angle on the neck one day. But it's pretty good as is
