Hey, Stanley (if that's your real name...hmmmm....lol,,,,you know, the internet and all....), #99 here....subscriber, that is. Would have been fun to be #100, but #99 works. I don't think you know how talented you are. You are terrific on these olde tyme tunes and your voice accompianment is wonderful. Thanks for the delightful interlude to my day today. As a long time contradancer and caller, which is centered around oldtimey music, and being located in the southern Ohio area, which is appalachian, I've been lucky enough to be around many old time musicians for decades, including some exceptional banjo players, and you're right up there with them. Your sound is fresh, light, and clear, which I consider 3 of the most powerful skills to share in old time music. So, kudos. If there are any contradance groups nearby in your part of Texas, you'll find some kindred musicians for sure. These groups are usually found in bigger cities and/or some university towns. Look around a little bit. Also, Bela Fleck's wife plays clawhammer, and he plays another style, and the youtubes of those 2 talking their different styles are great. Thanks again for the nice entertaiment.....and great singing, too. You really carry the tunes well, and they are already such great tunes, amirite? Sully forth and enjoy. Keep posting when you can.....super good stuff. IMHO, olde tyme music is some of the very best, cuz it's from the heart, it's simple, and it can be so joyous!

I really appreciate your kind words and affirmations! It can be hard to assess my own skill level because I don't know any old-time enthusiasts in person. The closest I've gotten has been tracking down a fairly close Bluegrass jam earlier this year (which I've enjoyed). I love your idea of trying to track down some contradance groups, and I will certainly be trying to figure out if there are any that meet nearby!
I am also a huge fan of Abigail Washburn, and I love the music that she and Bela make together! They are definitely a banjo power couple!
Again, thank you for taking the time to write out your comment! It definitely helped to make my day even better!

@Gudha_Ismintis Thanks for subscribing! 😁 I started playing banjo almost five years ago, but I'd had a few years of violin and guitar lessons as a kid, and I played bass guitar in a band for a few years in high school. 🙂
