Gear I use:
Guitar: changes by the video. i use a lot of fender, and gibson. but feel free to ask specifics.
Pickups: all of my guitars use different pickups depending on what suits them but i will say Bare Knuckle Pickups are my favorite and preferred brand. feel free to ask specifics
Amps: Fractal AxeFX 2 for the guitar tone on my covers, lessons, and original music . i almost always use Orange AD30 presets but sometimes some Friedman, Soldano and others sneak in.. i dont typically use real amps anymore. certainly not in my videos just for convenience.
Strings: 9-46 are my main string gauge for fenders. i'll use 10-52 on Gibsons typically. i tend to flip flop between Ernie Ball and D'addario.
Picks: i tend to use .73mm Tortex but i'll use .60mm for faster strumming songs or for Bass guitar.
DAW: Reaper for all my recording software.
I've "won" a few guitars over the years too. My wife was so excited to hear the news lol.
I found it on the side of the road I swear...lol
This was the only guitar I could keep in tune in the guitar store. I spent two hours playing all kinds of fenders and gibsons. $3,000 budget and I went with the tribute. It sounded better even the other standards and sounded better to me then an $8,000 sg. I was looking for a good sounding guitar and I found the tribute sounded the best. Maybe it’s the maple neck and mahogany body?! Wicked sustain and sounds good clean and with distortion, can’t ask for much more then that
Can certainly agree the sound is killer
I have a Les Paul Tribute that kicks the shit out of my Standard and Slash Standard. I also have a Les Paul Classic that just has something about it too. Every SG I’ve owned has been shit. Will not stay in tune at gigs. I love the look of these tributes. Almost ready to lose my ass giving an SG another shot.
I just picked one up used .. had the opportunity to get a SG standard new but i saved like $1000 and got a 2019 tribute.. how ya feelin' about it all this time later.
i fell in love with the guitar aswell.. Was about to buy an 60s Gibson Les Paul Standard.. THen tried this one by accident.. THe neck is so fkn amazing, my hand flies while playing.. Totally in love with the Guitar.
Sweet. I played this model yesterday and liked it better than the custom shop sg that was next to it. Cool guitar, congrats!
Sounds great, and that walnut finish is beautiful.
I love finding others who play Gibson guitars. Especially the SG. I’m hoping to get this soon. Great demo!
My one bit of advice with playing SGs to give is always use a right angle cable. It's pretty easy to damage the top with a straight cable by stepping on it or hitting the cable somehow
That's why I use Lekato wireless.
Thanks for the advice, I'll go grab a right angle cable tomorrow 🤞
That never happened to me😂 maybe try a guitar stand so you don’t lay ur guitar down where u can step on it😂
That would make a great routine jam practice guitar or to play out to a gig where you wouldn’t have to worry about it getting dinged. I love the simplicity of the low end Gibsons because they have the same pickups and strings as their higher end siblings so one can really let loose with them. Those are truly meant to be played, not displayed.
Imagine buying a high end guitar just to display it. Stupid.
@@wallclock4648 imagine thinking a guitar could be good for practice or jamming or out to a gig to "let loose"
one of your videos from a few years back showing off a les paul special in ferrari red inspired me to find an sg special in that color cuz i loved it so much. found one on reverb that was practically a closet queen from 97 and i love it so much.
Yeah Ferrari red is underrated. They gotta use that color more often
The Tribute Sg has gone up in price $1,299 by next week prices will go up everywhere
Thanks for letting me know Epic legend Vinnie Goombots
The gibson Standard tribute Sg reminds me of the old School Sgs from the late 1960's early 70's
The fact that you won a free SG is hilarious because I don’t think you ever would have bought one again.
You're probably right lol
I have one, 2013. No scratchplate, block inlays, Grovers, mahogany neck and body, 24 frets, chocolate colour. Gibson finally getting it right with a low-end guitar - rock animal.
Kinda disappointed it wasn’t a little red guitar but a Gibson will do 🤣
I've got one too, it was my first Gibson and I love it.
The Tribute sg reminds me of the Late 1960's and early 70's Sgs
Kick ass playing! Thanks for the demo.
I’m 20 and I got this guitar when I was 18 and still have it. I don’t play it as often in my band or anything cause I don’t want to ruin it. I got the same exact guitar down to the color. It is a really great guitar but it cost to much for me not to be careful with it
Beautiful, love your talent and vibe too
Just bought my first one the other day, first non-fender guitar and it's easily my favourite after getting to know her
Easily your favourite?
I think is the playability the reason
@@dimitrisaivaliotis5616 definitely, the fretboard is super accessible, it feels like butter to play. I also love the sound, it's great when you want to have a clean sound and even better when you want to rip it with the distortion
I got one a month ago and it’s replaced my telecaster as my favorite guitar, and I am a die hard fender telecaster guy.
Shred it 🤘🏼
cool 😎 guitar 🎸 l just bought on on layby
The Tribute is my favorite SG ever. I prefer the dot inlays. My issues with SGs are tuning stability which is not easy to fix and has to do with both the headstock design and the instability of the neck joint; neck dive; and the placement of the tone controls. I like nothing more than one volume and one tone and I like them placed in the same spot the put them on a PRS. Otherwise, I dig this guitar. I've played Tributes at many shops and love the pickups, the playability, etc. Not a perfect guitar but still great.
This violet strap fits the maroon shorts really nicely. ;-)
Done your best to make this axe really look badass.
you play real clean bro!
Wow that guitar and your playing both sound awesome. Your first solo I heard a hint of Tony Iommi and it sounded spot on... Great review you just helped me purchase one today from Sweetwater Music. I will now have my to favorite guitars, Strats and a Gibson,, Thank you.... :)
Man NOTHING chugs like a GIBSON
Pretty sweet entry level Gibson IMO
@@underdog8797 for Gibson, that’s entry level. Don’t get me wrong, like I said, it’s a sweet guitar!
@@underdog8797 this is why its called a tribute it's a tribute to the Sg of that era
@@underdog8797 is it not the lowest priced SG that Gibson sells?
@@eldyko if you have nothing intelligent to say go away I already explained I have been playing guitar almost 50 years and a incredible 19 year music career I have been playing Gibson Epiphone and fender so dont come on here thinking you're some expert and going to show me because little fella you're not trust me on that
@@thepatriot4355 I don’t understand all the butthurtedness. Check the facts. It’s Gibson’s lowest priced SG in their current range and I think it sounds really fucking good. Have a nice day!
any sg's are rock's gear for sure ! nice playing btw !!
I feel the SG's player/ fan base has got to have the largest percentage of people who at first didn't like it then one day... something clicked. They fell for it and never went back.
Anyway, what distortion are you using here? It's really good
what are the pickups in it? sounds great. love the crunchy tones. never liked the look of sg bodies though.
Its stock. I just checked and the web says 490R and 490T. I figured it was 490 and 498 but I guess not
The look of those Black pickups fits way better than the standard hambuckers in my humble opinion...
I like black also
But there are covers look oldies
Also like them not too bright
Mine love it like a kid in a candy store it stays into like it's supposed to but I noticed the a string vibrates a little different more for cosmetic best way to say it again it stays into you know how your screams bisbee when you strum it vibrate in and out I'm sorry up and down I'd never steal a string vibrates like a small tiny wobble and again it stays in tuned I just didn't know if you had the same issue with yours I used the addrio strings and I know I misspelled that one when I got it up
Gibson Standard Tribute Sg is Gibson best sg by a country mile it's the closest to the old School Sgs of the late 1960's and early 70's no bells and whistles just straight up Sg power like the old School Sgs
That tone in the beginning screams Social Distortion
Love social distortion
I bought 1 of these today from Sweetwater. It will be swèeeeeeet when it arrives 😊
Just bought the Gibson tribute it's not as good as the Epiphone modern Sg I have that too...
Sick! Enjoy
Fred mascherino sg vibes
Que sonido tan fantástico y rockero!!!
It's a beutiful thing.
What amp are you using for this demo? sounds great!
Gibson best Sg by a country mile it's a shame it's been recently discontinued
Makes me miss my SG, might be dirt cheap, but as a first guitar it wasn't the worst thing in the world.
God I love the sound of the 2019 SG Standard Tribute. The 2020 SG Tribute's and newer suck they sound like a totally different guitar.
It’s the same guitar… literally nothing changed.
@@Nate-vk7gu Im pretty sure the frets are different from 19 to 00 and they literally dont sound the same I got a 19 and my buddy has 2021 and hooked up to the same amp and cab they dont sound the same, check it out for yourself
That's because all paf style pickups are unevenly wound and unmatched therefore they have a character and sound of their own no Gibson sounds the same.
PS: it great sound, i'm gonna buy one !
Gibson SG Tribute and Gibson SG Special Faded. What is the difference?
Dunno
@@littleredguitars2 ???
The tribute is a renamed Special Faded. They renamed it and added a few hundred bucks to the price.
Sounds pretty damn mean
New gibson ready for some new angels and airwaves covers?😉
Do you compared it to classic mahoghany neck? Tribute is with maple neck, i think. Sounds great
It'll make the sound slightly brighter than the mahogany.
Btw do you like P-90's.
P90s are awesome
It sounded like mike ness guitar tone!
Nice axe, sounds just fine I guess.. Does it neckdive as most of SGs do?
Yes very much so
@@draincel really? They claim that the new SGs don't do it..
@@Stanslick they do but it doesn't bother me that much, the sg tribute is a damn work horse and can take a beating and I can Contest that.
Depression intensifies.
You'll be ok bro
Please man , can you cover "The New Abnormal" on this pretty sound girl ,[For example]
Hola amigo. He comprado ests guitarra hace unos dias, estoy esperando que me llegue. ¿Merece la pena? No me alcanza para el modelo estandard. ¿Comodidad y nateriales adecuados? Un salido amigo. Me gusta mucho como tocas. I like it
Valió la pena?
I want one of these to use as a backup for my '61 Reissue. Particularly in that finish, too! Hehe.
Wanna buy mine? Lol
@@littleredguitars2 shipping to the Philippines would probably cost half the price of the guitar, but thank you 😅
Is there any neck dive?
It's an sg
@@littleredguitars2 I mean I've had one that didn't have it so I was just wondering.
@@littleredguitars2 could have just replied straight “yes” like a regular person
What song was that?
Time stamp?
@@littleredguitars2 by who?
Oh geez. Nm
@@littleredguitars2 ok
was just wondering, why you haven't reviewed or commented about the recent AVA releases?
Nothing worth talking about
@@littleredguitars2 Well said. I feel you.
Maple neck on that one right?
Pretty sure its mahogany. Just not tinted like the body
Yep, It is Maple!
You won it,but doesn't even seem like your into it,enjoy or are getting anything out of it
Was that english?
You trying to sell it?
Sold it last week
@@littleredguitars2 for how much
Sorry bro but I think you should be more grateful. Coming from a guy that would have LOVED to won that contest. I absolutely adore SG's and can't afford one. I mean, you aren't negative but it seems like you could be more appreciative to have one.
Good for you man. Maybe you'll win the next one.
@@littleredguitars2 you’re one negative sounding UA-camr man lmao you should try and fix that if you actually wanna grow on this platform just saying
How can you complain about a $1,300 dollar guitar you won. & you don't need to oil or do anything to a rosewood fretboard. That's from a Luthier that's one of the best in the country.
Why not give it back so someone that appreciates it gets it
Your playing ain't all that either
You are such a salty little boy lol
Put invader on it 🔥
Absolutely not
Another useless demo. It would be helpful to hear how the guitar plays without distorted sounds.
I'm terribly sorry to have disappointed you. Ill do better
Great master!!! 🤘🏻🎸
