Thanks for the heads up Kris👍 I've been wanting that black bear classic for years, but would never pull the trigger because of the price. I grabbed one last night for $126 with their additional 10% off offer. Love my OSS, but this one is on another level!
I knew that would happen. That's why I had to order another, for my Collection. This one will never be a Safe Queen, as long as I have it; I absolutely luv it! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Kris Stiletto, Great knife; thank you very much for sharing! I have the following two questions though: 1) I do not know anything about knife fighting. Do you think that the BLACK BEAR CLASSIC is much better than the OSS, given that the OSS is much lighter (the only apparent advantage of the BLACK BEAR CLASSIC seems to be the guard)? 2) You mention the different ways you carried the knives you show. Could you show these ways in a video clip (including the modifications you had to do), please? Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.
I am not a Professional Knife Fighter. What I am is a person who has always carried and used Knives my whole life. I like to study and watch and learn from those that are. So, I am pretty much self-taught. Now, when it comes to the two mentioned Knives, that depends on personal preference. Myself, I always like light, balanced, and fast in hand the best. Both, are great. For me, I often find real heavy Knives much harder to handle and manipulate in your hands. Especially, if they're not balanced right. I just like the way the Black Bear looks and feels in my hand. But, it is much heavier than the OSS or the Budget Version of the Black Bear Classic. Though, it's balanced very nicely. So, that makes up for the heavier weight and it still feels fast in hand. If you can get the Black Bear Classic on sale, I would get that one. And, if you can afford it, I would get the OSS, also, to compare and see which one is best for you. And, then, if desired, I would return the one you feel wasn't best for you. Or, do like me, and keep both... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-) Oh, I like your video suggestion... Stay tuned... :-)
Right on. I have seen previous sales for the Black Bear Classic. But, they always were at ti especially I had other financial obligations. So, I missed out... :-( This time, I didn't. :-) And, it's the Blade I thought it would be; I absolutely luv it. I think it's worth more than the $128 I paid for it. I think $140 is an awesome deal for this one, too... But, I always like to catch the sales... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Oh, yeah! This is one that has evaded my Collection for a long time. Now, I finally have one in my Collection and I absolutely luv it! It's everything that I expected it to be. :-) Right on, Bro! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
That’s a beautiful but deadly knife. Love mine! And I agree, they should absolutely bring back the Oyabun. The Kobun is great but a longer version of it that’s still lightweight just makes sense to have in the Cold Steel lineup! That’s definitely one I’d love to see again. Cool video, good to see Juno again 🐱 Peace
Juno says hello, or Meow! :-) Yes, GSM, Cold Steel should definitely bring back the "Real" Oyabun! :-) They came with either a 7.5" or 9" Blade. I have both sizes. The 9" one is the one I used the most. The other one is in the Safe. They were part of a line of Fixed Blade Fighters that included the Kobun (Tanto), Oyabun (Tanto), Peacekeeper 1 (Double Edged Dagger 7" Blade), and Peacekeeper II ( Double Edged Dagger 5.5" Blade). I would say they were like the Budget or Affordable Line of the Magnum Series of San Mai Fixed Blades. Yes, GSM, Cold Steel should definitely bring them back. The Kobun is the only survivor of that Series that started around 1995, or so... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
LOL :-) :-) :-) It seems like yesterday, for me... LOL :-) :-) :-) I guess that's what's it like as you get Older, you become a Living History Book... LOL :-) :-) :-) Seriously, though, yes, GSM, Cold Steel should bring back these Classic, Cold Steel, Affordable/Budget, Fixed Blade Self-Defense Fighters! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
I see, I am not the only one! :-) I have always admired these. And, I always wanted one. But, I didn't want to spend the big bucks on a Blade I can only Collect and not carry. So, other's often were purchased before this one. But, when the price dropped to $128 at MidwayUSA.com, I just couldn't refuse it any longer; I pulled the trigger! I am so glad I did. Now, I have one for my Cold Steel San Mai Collection of Fighters... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
I have one of these in San Mai. It will never see the inside of that sheath though, as it dulls the edge! I am getting a leather sheath for it. It's definitely not a camp knife, strictly a fighter.
Yes! This is a serious Fighting Knife. I know they advertise it as a "Hunter." But, it's really a "Fighter!" I am so happy to finally have one in my Cold Steel San Mai Collection. Thank you for watching! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Yes, they advertise this one as a Hunting Knife... :-) But, it's really a dedicated Fighting, Double-Edged, Fixed Blade Knife! And, I absolutely luv it! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Yes, it sort of has a "Fantasy Flare" to it. To me, it looks like a Pirate's Pocket Knife... :-) :-) :-) I absolutely luv it; it's one fun Blade to own. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Thanks Bro! I am glad I finally got one for my Collection of Cold Steel San Mai Fixed Blades. This is a sweet Blade. But, not legal to carry in my State. So, this one will be a Collector. I highly recommend this one, if interested. Thank you for watching. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
@@Kris_Stiletto 👌We are allowed to carry (still) only the absolutely symmetrical dagger style knives are forbidden. stay healthy and enjoy your great 'toys' brother👌
Are you in CA? Here Double Edged Knives are against the Law to carry. You can buy and own them, like all Knives, but you cannot carry them. That's my understanding. And, since it's a Felony, I wouldn't chance it. It's not that important to me to be able to carry a Double Edged Fixed Blade Knife. I have a ton of other choices... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Definitely a fighting knife. That thing is mean. Could even call it a gladiatorial hunting knife. This and a shield and you'd have a chance against pretty much anything known by science. Ok, maybe not a T. Rex or a megalodon... lol
No boxes? Did you buy used one's? They should have either Boxes, like you see on my Channel Un-Boxings... Or, some are coming in the plastic sealed display packaging. Wow, just being bound in Bubble Wrap isn't the way they come from the Factory... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

The workmanship on my Black Bear is excellent! It's a beautiful knife!
That Mayhem deal for 135 with 10% off was off the hook at Midway. Sold out

I got mine last year.
Love it.
I forget what I paid but I thought it was a good deal or I wouldn't do it.
