I love that you're trying so many different foods in japan. It's pretty awesome to see all of these cuisines that I wouldn't even think they'd have there. Keep up the great videos Eric ! ☺️
My mom makes the cabbage rolls all the time and makes it with fermented cabbage and it has NEVER been gross smelling. Something must have gone bad with the cabbage because once cooked it does have a sour taste but nothing awful.
The pickled sarma is indeed an acquired taste. I enjoy them made from fresh cabbage and boiled in tomato sauce and served with a big scoop of sour cream and a small slice of bread instead of the mashed potatoes.
I really enjoy these videos about international food, are so funny and we can see differences between our national foods respecting japanese style. Too many viewers aren't appreciating this effort.
Eric I HATE to hear you say "I'm not worthy!" Let me tell you something you're an AMAZING Human Being in SO many ways!!!!, And people like you are few and far between now a days! I SO wish MORE men were like YOU! Honestly! You are one of the BEST Men on UA-cam for several reasons and my friend YOU are SO WORTHY!!!! I love your ALL of your vids! You're a Great Entertainer! Your personality is endless. Tysvm for All of your time, effort, content, etc and letting people like me who are stuck at home due to whatever reason see the World through your eyes! This journey through your eyes so far has been beyond amazing for me and I do really appreciate you! I know you're just a regular guy, but even regular laid back guy like yourself deserves some Royal treatment! You do especially! TC my friend, much love Kelly! :))
Man, I know Tokyo is huge, but who knew they had so many specialized restaurants....pretty awesome. Starting to run out of countries, or can we expect lots more? :D
I know everyone wants to see Japanese food - but I think looking at the Japanese take on different foreign foods it's quite unique! It's always just slightly off the real deal - even if they have ex-pats running it. They still have to appeal to the Japanese taste.
beef cheeks have no doneness. They are stewed for a long period of time hence the tenderness. That would be the natural colour of beef when its been stewed :).
Mixing white wine with sparkling mineral water ..more popular as “white wine cocktail” its a traditional drink in central Croatia, and its called Gemišt.In English it's usually called spritzer. There is a similar version made with red wine in the Croatian south, where it’s mixed with still water and called bevanda. Anyway, nice video, greetings from Croatia !
Oh Eric ! "Sarmale" (rolled cabbage) is one of the Romanian traditional food ! The moment i saw you mix it up with the mashed potatoes ohhhh the pain ! we never do that in Romania :)) Also we add smoked meat to it :)
I love your videos Eric! I love how open minded you are when it comes to trying new foods. I wish I could be less picky when eating and be more like you. How do you prepare yourself before eating something you may or may not like?
The sarma is very good in a red sauce cooking for several hours. Sauerkraut is in the sauce too. My Baba used to wake me up to help her make it. Serbian cookies are the best too!!
Omg finally!!! Can't believe i missed this! Btw i love how you pronounce all the Croatian names with a Japanese accent hahaha... And also I'm quite surprised you didn't like the sarma (since you eat Japanese cuisine which has a lot of fermented food), i can bet it's not prepared the same way as here, even if it looks the same. Shame you couldn't eat some more typical balkan food, like a meat platter, meso s tiblice, krumpirusa, burek etc. If you ever get a chance at a restaurant that serves these meals go in you won't regret it.
Another fantastic review Eric. I have to say the the restaurant looked fantastic outside and inside, which I think really adds a lot to the dining experience. Unfortunately I watched this 2 hours before lunch time [today I'm the cook], and I had to reach for some fresh macadamia nuts and a hot chocolate to kind of tide me over, if you know what I mean. To my eye the beef dish and the seafood dish looked the pick of the bunch. I was interested that you like your coffee black and without sugar. I have friends who regard that as the real way to drink coffee, but sadly it's not for me. Thanks again for taking us dining with you.
Hey Eric, have you ever had a lobster dish where the chef makes a sauce of the intestines? I wasn't too sure about it at first when the chef served it to me, but when I tried it, I had no regrets, it was somehow delicious. Unfortunately I have no idea what the dish was called, but it was prepared teppanyaki-style.
Ha! You made me chuckle when the truffle ice cream cake round. "Truffle... Famous in France. Should hAve a mushroom flavor. " There are three types of truffles... White and black, which are mushrooms dug up by pigs and dogs. And there are dessert truffles, named so because they are shaped like their mushroom namesakes. BUT, they contain no mushroom! Confused me for the longest time. Leave it to the French! I love the variety of foods and cuisines you have access to! Come to Iowa! We can have, uhm, corn! Nom nom nom!
In my region of Croatia the sarma, potato and soup goes in one plate but we do not mash it. I guess it depends on which part of state you visited. Not wrong but we prefer it this way and it's way better :D
@@ericsurf6 just come to Croatia. Because of the distance and language barrier, some things are lost in translation. This sarma when we prepare it, we throw some bacon inside the pot. But smoked and dried bacon. Just visit Croatia and try it. I always eat local food when I am traveling because abroad they dont have same ingredients compered to what you can find at the place of origin of that food.
Are there more filipino restaurants there? Have you tired letchon? (I dont think they might serve it over there) its quite good. Cheers for more yummy foods!
This Episode was great and that was the Eric we all wanna see. Both Thumbs up for this performance... please keep this way !! The food also looks more yummy, because of close camera views... I think those cool drinks has influenced your ratings.... somehow...
Love all the places you go. Love the food you eat. I have a request, I love onion rings. I love how sweet, crunchy, golden they are. It melts in my mouth. Could you do a meal time about onion rings? It would be awesome. thank you.
too bad you didn't like sarma, it's the sole reason why every grandchild is looking forward to paying grandma a visit :) Also, the cabbage is usually pickled for even longer, but being fed sarma since childhood I suppose we've gotten used to its taste
Hii eric I loved the video made me hungry, that was a baby craw fish,I love those,we have a lot if those here in the islands of the Bahamas , I would try those drinks you had on the show ,they look delicious .
I love your videos eric but sometimes it's quite funny how much you don't know about food and drink. That white wine and club soda is known as just a Spritzer in most parts of the world. It's very common and not a cocktail. The beef cheek was not medium. That is just how beef looks when it's been slow cooked lol
If that Sarma tasted foul, it wasn't prepared properly, or it was bad. Sarma has a slight sour taste, but it should not be overwhelming. You should notice the smokey meat flavor more.
It probably was not made properly... It should not have tasted foul, it´s just pickeld cabbage with spiced meat and rice. Maybe the cabbage went bad. Happens sometimes if you don´t keep it in a cool and dark place or if you don´t salt it enough in the process. That is also a continental food in Croatia but it´s pretty much favorite everywhere in central and eastern Europe in one form or another.
Cool, funny because i was watching you eat those fermented cabbage rolls with Asia and they have the exact same thing in poland, but not fermented called 'gołąbki' or 'pigeons' in english I guess, so it was a shock seeing you eat them and decribe the flavour in such a way, I was saying they must have been old and they staff didn't realise it was off.. But yea you explained later they were fermented, so something new.. Maybe be interesting to try because i find 'gołąbki' a bit dull, but then again seeing your reaction I might think again.. ;)
Theres more than one kind of truffle in the food world.... Im almost certain they arent speaking of the mushroom variety when they made that Ice cream.
Out of all of the "croatian" foods you've tried in this video I only recognized Sarma maybe because it's tradicional.I haven't heard of any other foods that you've tried but I'm Croatian.Guess it depends which part of Croatia.
Personally I really enjoy these international food videos. Brings in some variety! Greetings from Finland!

Wow. You've been going to all these exotic restaurants and taking us with you. Thank you for your dedication, Eric!

Hey Eric! Just wanna thanks for the meal time videos! I've actually opened up and tried new foods like you have!
Wine with soda. In the 70s we used to call those wine coolers. Croatian stuffed cabbage is made with sauerkraut. That explains the sour.
Finally Eric! I waited 156 meal times for you to try Croatian food. I'm so glad you like it.
+Dokyos Yay!
Always look forward to Eric Meal Time. 😊👍
+Nichole Thanks Nichole.

+Camelot __ First time to try Gemist. It was delicious.
There is also "bambus" which is red wine mixed with Coca-Cola or Pepsi. Sounds weird, but its actually pretty good.
Croatian food! I want to try the jumbo shrimp! Rich and creamy♪ Thanks for sharing us the world cuisines! 😊 They are interesting! 🤗
+tomoko tomoko Thanks Tomoko! The jumbo shrimp was delicious!
Always love your videos Eric.

I've been watching this channel for a long time, love the content, and i'm Croatian... i wet my pants when i saw the title.
the food had great presentation! and the wines must have been good i find adding sparkling water really makes it taste refreshing

Probably problem with cabbage was they didnt wash it in water(and u got to do that multiple times) other wise it just taste sour.

What did you leave for the camera man to eat ?
new food, and is interesting seeing food from around the world served in Japan, is awesome ♡♡
Oh my! This looks SO amazing! i wish we had this where i live!
"Big Shrimp"? Over here in the US we call that delicious crustacean, lobster
JafJr. Freddy Google is your friend - it's a giant shrimp not lobster, have a second look at the vid and you can see the shape
It's clearly a lobster, look at the legs
euroherbal look again its a giant tiger shrimp/prawn
+euroherbal It's a jumbo shrimp. It has no claws.
Ericsurf6 thanks Eric it didn't look like there was enough meat for a lobster, I picked up the ebi part of the Japanese name - so thought Asian shrimp
Love your shirt Eric!!! Food looked good too! 🤣

Every time Eric says something tastes like stew, take a drink.
Eric !? Great episode again. You ever eat your way through Epcot ?

How much was the whole set lunch?
This meal looked delicious except for the cabbage and pork can't wait to see your next food video
Have you ever gotten food poisening from any of the restaurants that you have tried?

You should do more of these videos of different cuisines in Japan

that's not the way you eat sarma ..don't mash all together ;)
The waiter instructed me to mash it all up. Not right?

I knew you was going to give it 5 stars cause that's what I would've done because the cabbage roll is what would've done me in

I am sitting here eating ice cream as your eating your dessert. It is making me laugh about it.
Croatian food is one of the best, they got all the ingredients in Japan since it's a seafood based cuisine....
Oh, YUM!! Beef cheek is amazing!

Sometimes you remind me of Steve Martin and sometimes you remind me of Mike Rowe...

+Nawid Hamid More Japanese coming soon!
Lol more fast food Japanese
I would love to see some more hamburger videos. I really enjoyed watching the samurai burger and the Most burger.
I like all Eric's videos and am satisfied with the direction being taken. Although we could do with another 7-11 video :) .
I think it's great to see the different kinds of food you can get there.
Good stuff man.
If they have a Swedish restaurant in Tokyo, please try it!
⌚🌎 I love that shirt on you, just saying 😇😉 Did the bait catch the big fish? :)
Thanks Raeshel.
I formally request you do a maid cafe please :)
A lot of locals unroll the cabbage and eat only the meat :)
+Caljkusic1 That would have been better. The cabbage was nasty.
@@ericsurf6 the cabbage shouldn't be nasty at all, it's normally milder in taste, you need to try the real thing in Croatia
