One of my favorite tricks is casperflip and hardflip too! 🥰🛹 Hadn't skated for 10 years. I have been skating again for 8 months and still do the trick, even with 39 years ✌️😉 skating is the best sport! I love to stand on the board again and learn a trick. Makes you young again and it's so much fun! 🙏😂
I’m just about 40yrs old and have never tried to sb but after watching a lot of Gigers videos, I kinda want to finally give it a shot... I’m gonna buy a board for my son, and one for me ...and maybe watch a couple more of his videos before hand. 😀 Thanks for the inspiration to try something new. - Dustin from Maryland
I was never very good at skating, but this was always one of my favorite tricks to do. The way it stays attached to your foot feels so nice when you land a clean one.
Landed hospital flip 5 times tonight super hype to land a trick like this with less than a year and a half of skating. Taking it up at 28 yrs old was one of the greatest decisions I've made. Love your videos and skate mind. Your uploads always get me hype to go skate!! thank you!!
This is gonna take me a good long while to get down. It's the trick I've been wanting to do for years but was never told how to do it. I'm 34 and have been on hiatus from skating for a few years. You've amped me up and inspired me to get a new set up and get back at it. Thank you so much. You're my new favourite skater man.
Yeah... Took me a year to learn to Ollie. More to Kickflip and Healfilp... Actually I don't think ever landed more than a handfull in my life. Still I had a lot of fun skating. I still watch these now even though I don't skate anymore.
Your effort teaching and instructing people how to do tricks rather than just showing is more than appreciated! Keep those videos coming! You are crazy talented and truly dedicated. And I'm not even mentioning Rodney Mullen 😉
Thanks for this video! Question: Could you do a video about one day in the life of Jonny Giger? It would be interesting you do. Skating, Filming, Eating, Editing, Chilin 🙂
I learnt this trick 20 years ago when I saw someone doing it on a quarter pipe in a skate magazine. No UA-cam tutorials back then😥 Love ya vids Johnny!!
I think a cool part of the visual of a hospital flip, which only really becomes apparent in the slowmo, is that it kinda looks like you're failing a trick, but managing to salvage it by catching the board with your front foot. This is also what makes it different from a casper flip: In a casper flip, it's obvious that you're going for a mid-air casper.
Can't land it on my longboard yet, but my kickflips are not on lock yet. Popshuveits and ollie are on lock though. I love watching your videos anyway. Very relaxing, and your pointers/slowmos are worth gold.
One thing that helped me a few years back when this tutorial with a teen at Woodward got through my head you take your foot to just before you flick, like where your foot’s top is 45 degrees to the right in relation to your shoulders which are parallel to your board.. try to keep your foot in that pre-flick position and rotate it(like w your knee) to face 45 degrees to the left now. IF YOUR REGULAR it’d be your left foot which is diagonal to your left, and rotate your foots top diagonal to the right.... and simply rip your toes through the top of your shoe while NOT pulling up really
Holy crap I was watching this video and decided it would be fun to try while I finish it and I ended up landing it 1 time in the span of this video giger you are an S tier teacher I was absolutely lost and by the end I ended up landing it thank you
Hi there did skate a lot in the late 2000's and have been using it as means of transportation ever since. I started again now after 10 years of pause and your stuff really makes one gonna go out and try tricks! Keep it up! Grüess us Basel
Wow man, you explained this really well. I'm stunned, got my first land in 20 minutes. I'd never tried before as I thought it was well out of my ability. Thank you buddy!
Love your videos Jonny; your style, your attitude, but most importantly your commitment. This vid was especially nice to see explained because I saw it recently in a Braille video and didn't really understand how. One suggestion / request while you're explaining, could you mention what your eyes are looking at during the trick and exactly when? For example I've found my ollies are cleaner if I focus on my nose / frontfoot right after the pop, and wish someone had explained that to me earlier.
I stopped fighting and started skateboarding a year ago.thanks for the tips, and videos.the late backfooted lazer flip was narly.the metro flip so sick,
i used to master this trick back in the days, especially on a new board with a fresh sticky grip, this trick used to be my uno reverse card on a game of skate
literally i just saw a tiktok of someone saying they did same thing and they didn’t know what it was called so i found out thru the comments and came straight here
i like watching your videos, they are great! even though i cant get on a skateboard no more because i broke my right shoulder, its fun to watch these amazing tricks. keep 'em coming
You’re the man ! Thank you so much ! Awesome ! Your videos are so good ! Without other words, really... THANK YOU ! It’s been a while that I m following you... really I cannot stay shutted up anymore... Thank you so much for all your videos ! Thanks for that man !
I love ur videos bro it amazes me ur dedication to completing a trick and ur in depth descriptions of how to do them is great....could u please do a video on the 5 or 10 hardest tricks in your opinion and the names of their creators and any tricks u can't lock down because I havnt seen u fail yet lol keep up the great work peace!
this is such a useful video and u explained it very well, thank you!!! also i’m very proud to say i landed my first kick flip yesterday and second one today:)
Had a buddy who had this shit down!!! Did it over a foldable chair, was super sick. We were noobs at skating and learned this early(though I never had it consistently)
Can confirm we were doing these 20 years ago under the name Casper flip. Today is my first time hearing hospital flip. Must be a regional thing I guess.
Another great trick tip video jonny! Could you consider doing a video on 360 pop shuvits? imo its an underrated trick that looks very cool especially when there is some decent air time.
When I was a teenager I was surprised how easy this trick was to learn and keep on lock. It always felt underwhelming or kind of boring... But nobody else knew how to do them.
I sometimes flick too short with my kickflip attempts and get my front foot stuck in exactly this way. Even got close to an accidental landing, but stepped off with the back foot. I kind of feel I could do this one, given enough practice, fairly fast. (and nope, still don't have kickflips down)
Would you please make a video about setting up a skateboard with emphasis on such details as deck width and length, wheel diameter and durability, using shockpads, tightening trucks, and such? Maybe in the role of a science guy from your trick inventing videos.
I suck at skateboarding. 10 Minuten landed this one. I didn't even know what I was doing. My feet just magically did that trick. Can't be mad. Now it's up to some sessions to actually have the Hospital Flip on Lock.
I learned the casperflip yesterday...at age 46...i'm super stoked!
One of my favorite tricks is casperflip and hardflip too! 🥰🛹

I'm 34 and I get injured when I try to throw up my old favorites!

I’m about to dive back in myself thanks for the motivation 💯
I have been meaning to learn this during quarantine, perfect timing!
Quarantine is over bruh

Got pop shuvs down and nearly got kick flips and varials, going to give this a shot when I’ve got those other tricks!
TheBreakDownTv if you can get the kickflip down. soon after youll get the hospital
@@yukunerring4314 I learned hospital first, before kickflip and I didnt know what was that.
I watched until 5:11 paused it then started trying and actually figured out how it worked and landed with 1 foot. Tysm

hell yeah man
Been trying hospital heels, since I can't kickflip but can heelflip. This actually gave me more insight, gonna go out and try ASAP. Keep at it, Jonny.
you honestly dont need to know how to kickflip since your not flicking your only dragging
I can't ollie well and im watching this tutorial wtf
Yeah... Took me a year to learn to Ollie. More to Kickflip and Healfilp... Actually I don't think ever landed more than a handfull in my life. Still I had a lot of fun skating. I still watch these now even though I don't skate anymore.
I've never skated in my life. I love skating though, so always looking to learn more about it
Same lol
no worries...i can't ollie and don't sk8. Giger is entertaining and very handsome !
@George Sweden well, you can actually try to learn the casper stall

This has always been my favorite trick to do!! Haha I've always called it a half-flip casper
It is a half-flip Casper.
Tutorial of hospital heelflip, Please!
Would be awesome to watch that variant of the trick!
Pavel Izquierdo Gamez say goodbye to an healthy Akilles that’s all i have to say. Nollie is the easiest one, lean back. It’s your choice 🤣
@@rastaskate4546Hospital Heelflips don't even hit the achilles as long as you pick up your back foot after the pop.

New homework for this quarantine

This is one of my favorite tricks iv always done this trick like the second version johnny showed with it being like a casper stall in the air
I learned this trick the same day I watched the video. It's so easy that the next day I learned it fakie. Thanks so much Johnny, you the GOAT

I literally always forget about this trick.. And I just recently forgot about the back foot placement…
Thanks for the video! 🤙
I still cant get over the Mother flip and since you've uploaded to more. Man your on fire
I stopped fighting and started skateboarding a year ago.thanks for the tips, and videos.the late backfooted lazer flip was narly.the metro flip so sick,
You are seriously awesome, i love the way you break the tricks down. Also, the slo-mo really helps, coz it is a hard trick to comprehend.
Once again, johnny has come to my rescue
Danke für das tourtorial!
Der Trick wird jetzt erst mal mit deinen Tricks geübt 🤝🏻
Thank you for making a video explaining that there is a difference. Many don’t know
Great tutorial. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing and now I almost landed a perfect one (backfoot slipped off) within 10 tries
i used to master this trick back in the days, especially on a new board with a fresh sticky grip, this trick used to be my uno reverse card on a game of skate
One of my favorite tricks. Thank. Not that I can skate anymore.
I landed this on the first day practicing, the tutorial helped a lot, I don't even have kickflips down
I accidentally landed this trying a vairle flip
Respect same
I feel ya, same for me. But hey, at least a win in a fail🤣
Same😂

ydid it agaiiin dawg! amazing video! informative, visually easier to follow, brokendown into tiny bite size pieces, easily digestible.
jonny took that primo so gracefully
got this trick accidentaly while learning casper stall, i love it now haha
I love this trick, I learned it in accident trying late front foot shuvit, had it on lock ever since, also super fun in fakie stance
I used to do these back in the day!!! Might be time to re-learn.
Cheers JG
That switch one right before you started talking was so clean brotha 🤙
Broke my toe learning this trick, stomped it down on my back foot.
A hospital flip is a good trick to learn during a pandemic.
Haha jokes aside, another kickass video from Giger-san.
Much love from Brazil!
i like watching your videos, they are great! even though i cant get on a skateboard no more because i broke my right shoulder, its fun to watch these amazing tricks. keep 'em coming

The night before I watched this video and to day i land it thank you Giger.
It's like the board wants you to do a Casper to Primo slide ;)
I was literally watching this on Braille 2 mins ago 😂 great vid!
I love these new tutorials.
Always wanted to learn this.
Thanks%
Thank you for teaching my son how to hospital flip my son just hospital flip for 13 times a week ago he's just 15 🥰🥳
awesome editing and video quality Jonny
Looks so cool and is actually super easy
I think I watched the same trick tip that helped you a long time ago! I remember the guy showed a lot of failed attempts in front of a brick wall
"I say too much boom, but it's also like the best term ever" bro i wish Jonny had a tv show😂😭😭

Hospital flips always look amazing
Excellent video, good trick thanks
I learned this like 18 years ago, I called it Casper flip and everyone tried calling it a one footed varial. I knew 12 year old me was right.
It’s technically a hospital though so you’re still wrong
Had a buddy who had this shit down!!! Did it over a foldable chair, was super sick. We were noobs at skating and learned this early(though I never had it consistently)
thanks for posting this a week after i learned them🤣🤣🤣still watchin it tho🤣🤣
one of the easiest trick u can learn. and it feels good 2 land it. do it backside... a bit difficult 4 me.... but looks amazing. (my opinion)

I almost got kickflips. This looks very fun. Also cool shoes
Very good one, man. Appreciate it.
This trick is beautiful
I always did it in the second ways, twisting the board with both feet. I've found the first way more challenging .
Just yesterday accidentally did this trick! awesome feelling))
i know im late but with casper flips kickflip late shuv helps a lot
Another great trick tip video jonny!
Could you consider doing a video on 360 pop shuvits? imo its an underrated trick that looks very cool especially when there is some decent air time.
you've now a new trick to try : nollie casper flip to primo slide, it would actually be so sick
I finally LEARNED hospital flip today
When I was a teenager I was surprised how easy this trick was to learn and keep on lock. It always felt underwhelming or kind of boring... But nobody else knew how to do them.
I would love to get tips on just a regular nollie from you, love your vids!!!
Damn I’m gonna try this tomorrow!!
My favorite trick to pull out in a game of skate
I sometimes flick too short with my kickflip attempts and get my front foot stuck in exactly this way. Even got close to an accidental landing, but stepped off with the back foot. I kind of feel I could do this one, given enough practice, fairly fast. (and nope, still don't have kickflips down)
Did you ever get them down?
Yeah I had same problem ended up learning both
Please do more trick tips amd how difficult would you rate that tricks
Would you please make a video about setting up a skateboard with emphasis on such details as deck width and length, wheel diameter and durability, using shockpads, tightening trucks, and such? Maybe in the role of a science guy from your trick inventing videos.
