    Would you be able to do a more in-depth video on this song?

    This song (Ralph Stanley performing, specifically) is what drove me to start learning how to play; dad used to sing it to me as a kid. Once I get the basics down, this is the first song I'll be trying to learn.

    I just started two months ago,and I started with your videos,which are amazing by the way! But I thought I would get myself a book,to be able to read the music also. I find very hard to follow and try to imagine the sound of the tune.I am so new to this,but I love it! I practice every day! My book is from Janet Davis and Blackberry Blossom is in it,but I don’t know if it’s whole tune,cause you play it differently. Still learning all of this and having fun doing it! Keep those videos coming,I absolutely love them! By the way,my thumb hardly hits the head anymore! :)

    I was playing banjo with your awesome lessons a lot a few months ago and kind of stopped (because I wanted to let my nails grow nice n pretty), but I've still been listening to banjo music & this Mountain Dew song is one of my favorites to listen to on my commute or while playing video games. The vocals are fun to sing along to as well!
    I'm cutting my nails tonight and gonna still be working on the beginner's series (LOVING Cripple Creek & the new riff.) I'm super excited to learn more songs from you! I would like to learn more about music theory but it sounds so daunting to me. I love the way you teach, so if you ever get the chance to do even a quick music theory overview I'd be over the moon!
    Either way, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I love the country/the south but I live in Los Angeles, so the banjo takes me back to my childhood in Georgia/visits to Alabama.

    How do you get your cripple creek lick to sound so crisp and clean?

    • @JimPankey

    Hi there ! How do I convert this into the key of D?

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Рік тому

      Short of capoing at the 7th fret this isn't going to easily be shifted into D. That's a completely different arrangement and skillset involved.

      @@JimPankey hi! I kinda thought that. Im thinking that in terms of jams, often the songs are called out in different keys. When I learn them off the get go in g, it’s hard to convert them into different keys other than A. I think learning the melody in different keys then just noodling in slides, licks and tricks is a way… thoughts? Thanks for replying Jim!!
