Something I am trying to figure out is how do I acess my gmail account to get the code when I have not set up gmail on the new computer. I only have one monitor so this seems a bit of a pain to connect the old computer to get the gmail and then reconnect the new one or can I set gmail up on my wife's apple device? Any suggestions you might have on this would be helpful, nice clear presentation by the way.
Followed video, new HP envy setting up but stuck on whether i should set up as new computer or "Restore from this PC" I do want to get all my pictures and document files from my desktop to go over to the new laptop so "Restore" is my choice???
If you restore from a previous pc, Onedrive will copy all of that over for you
Do you have a video that can help me learn how to partition a drive: in particular how to understand how to create a partition for the operating system and then another one for files: I am new at that and need to understand the process and language. Also would be great if you can tell me if you have a video that teaches me how to set up an external SSD drive to save files while actively using Microsoft office. THANKS!

Ignore it. Create a local account and let Windows install drivers as needed after you finish. Then we can figure out why your wifi doesn't work
You say "you can setup a local account once you setup this machine." What do you mean by that?
I get your it administrator has limited access how fix this

If you use a Microsoft account, you can change your login method (just below your password prompt), by changing to "password" instead of PIN. If you want to login without a password, create a local account. Don't believe it's possible logging in with a Microsoft account
Use your FINGERPRINT if your HP computer has this feature. 👍

Thank you. How do I bring up google or the internet? Will it have Microsoft edge, and do I need some long forgotten code?
It comes standard with Microsoft Edge. Even if you choose to use that browser, I highly recommend downloading a backup (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, etc) just in case your primary browser stops working or gets hijacked

@mark-dietz if you install and use an alternate browser, you'll get prompted to make it your defaults. Just follow the steps. If you want to use Edge, it's your default until you change it 👍

question what if it only says ethernet not connected even though i followed instructions??
If you don't have wifi or wired connection, it should not try to create a Microsoft account but let you use a local one.
My windows 11 is telling me to use a work or student Microsoft account, I flashed my system, and now I can't access it again, what do I do?

Is this a new computer? If so, I would either do a factory recovery and start over (assuming you have your data backed up) or create a local account
Please help! Even though I asked this on another one of your posts, this is the one that makes sense. Last year, we succesfully set up a Windows 11 laptop with an offline account..............until we wanted to download other browsers & drivers for our laser printers. Then it forced us to create a MS account.
Tomorrow, we want to set up another Windows 11 laptop & need to know how to avoid the MS demand, when we want to download Vivaldi, or Brave, or our printer drivers. HELP?
You only need a Microsoft account if you try to install from the Microsoft store. You can go into settings and apps (I think), and turn off "Microsoft store apps only". Then you can down anything from anywhere you wish
My new laptop always gets stuck at the "'check for updates" window. Ive been restarting then computer but it keeps happening. Anyone have any solutions? I just want to start using my laptop :(
Are you lettings the updates complete or interruption them?
@@AskYourComputerGuy I let it run for 7 hours straight and it just kept buffering. I just bypassed the internet connection part instead and opted for a limited set up 😅
Oh I see. So it's the initial setup update check. Perhaps a factory recovery is in order, tell it to skip updates when setting up
It doesnt load anything in the wireless connection section i dont even use wifi i have it connected with lan it just doesnt work
When you say it doesn't work, is it stopping at a certain point and not letting you continue?
@@AskYourComputerGuy he's probably having the same issue I do. There's no wifi networks showing at all and no option to skip or troubleshoot. It's just a screen with 'let's connect to a network's.

Possible your wireless isn't in the pre-loaded list of wifi adapters, so Windows doesn't "see it". Create a local account and you're good to go

If it doesn't detect internet, it will still install. You'll just create a local account vs a Microsoft account. No big deal.
No, you are wrong. I did not get the name for the computer. This was a brand new Windows 11 Home edition. It only came up to create an account. We only had a Gmail account and then put in the password and said that this account does not exist. We had the right password as we had another computer sitting next to this computer and we checked the password and it was right. Did this about 10 times with an email address and then tried a phone number. We finally got it after a half hour of this crap.

I personally use Avast, but I'm also someone who doesn't click on random stuff. If I get malware in my email or accidentally through a website, Avast nails it every time. And it's free. There are other programs but if you want free, Avast is top notch

To Windows 11? I wouldn't, without a specific need. Too many bugs still not worked out in the public upgrade releases. Wait about 6-12 months and it will be more stable. Windows 10 is supported into 2024 anyway, so no need to rush over.
So, if this is your only PC, how do you check your email for the code?

I just got my wife a new HP laptop that came with Windows 11 Home I did everything you said to do on your video, only problem is wouldn’t let her sign in to the widgets on the bottom left corner
I've actually heard about that issue being related to earlier releases of Windows 11, specifically right after it was launched as a beta version. I'd imagine a Windows update will resolve it
how were you able to screen record while setting it up?
I have an HDMI capture card that feeds into my main computer and use OBS to capture the video feed 💪

Do you have built in wifi? If so, the installation should ask you to connect during setup if not, or you have no LAN connection, you should get a prompt "I don't have internet". One of those two things should happen
I'm stuck at the same part. These newer builds can't skip the wifi setup and I can't see my network.
There's actually a workaround I saw on UA-cam the other day that bypasses internet and Microsoft account validation. Wish I had the link, but I know it exists. Search youtube for "setup Windows with no internet" and you should be able to find it. I think it was CyperCPU's page
@@AskYourComputerGuy I think you're talking about the network flow work around. In the newer builds of w11 that doesn't work anymore.

You should have the option to skip the network connection and continue without internet
