What is Causing the Egg Production of our 32 Weeks Old Layer Birds to Reduce?

When the egg production of a flock that does well begin to decline, it is a big cause of worry to the poultry farmer . Sudden reduced egg production leads to less profit for the farmer and even emotional stress 😩

Check on your feed, finish feeds are reducing there content cause of the increase in raw materials used in producing there feeds

You are absolutely right about this , though this was over a year ago and we have long overcome the challenge as the birds are now 92 weeks old . You might think you are feeding your birds with 10 bags of 25kg feed, but in reality, each bag is no longer 25kg thereby reducing the feed getting to the birds .

This is exactly the challenges am having in my farm. From 64% to 48%.
My layers are 29weeks when the production drop.
Ordo it has started increasing as at today we get 58%
My birds are now 31weeks
I used antibiotics
After 3days I used calcium for like 8days
And started vitamin today

This flock are now 33 weeks old
From 86% at 30 weeks, it went as low as 57% at 32 weeks. They are currently at 75% as at yesterday, we are making progress gradually.

I am very happy that you are making appreciable recovery. Please how are/were you able to change the tide of this sudden fall or decrease on the egg production?
I will like to advise that your biosecurity is improved upon. Avoid little children as they may not be able to observe strict bio security.

Sometimes we keep using meds when our birds are not even sick or showing signs of sickness.. look into your feed, layers don’t get sick like that

We had a vet lab come take samples from the birds(from their blood and also 2 of the dead birds) . We were advised to Deworm, used DiversCipro, Vitamins afterwards and also washed our water tanks . Thanks for watching .

Our own from 29 crate to 25 for a while and now drop to 12 crate . Like collected 25 crate yesterday and today we only received 12 crate
They’ve been on treatment for 4days now no improvement
They have been laying for just 4 months now

Why don’t u try papaya leaf and calcium improve their food formula and plenty of water I can that your chicken house don’t have transparent roof to improve day light or fix lighting in house that may help

Egg laying capacity in layer birds is gradual and increases with age. This is due to their physical and internal growth. A 40 week old bird will lay better and more eggs than a 20 or 25 week old bird .
