    I think Phillipa Turnbull has a wonderful technique for avoiding oils from your hands getting onto your stitching - she places a piece of clear wrap over area to be stitched sitting on bottom hoop, then locks in the top hoop and cuts out the cellophane just in the area she is about to stitch, which is normally in the center of the hoop, leaving surrounding areas still covered by the cellophane.

      It will be easy to adjust the size. Just add or subtract squares..if adding just repeat some of the designs in the squares or come up with your own

    Karen I only have 28 count linen available so a) is this OK for this sampler for a beginner, b) do I use #8 and #12 perle cotton instead of the suggested #5 ? Can I use coloured thread instead of white? Know it won't be traditional but I only have a blue or pale green in the perle cotton, delivery at the moment could be months. Not sure I can wait that long, especially as I've just printed the pattern.

    • @NeedleBugg
      @NeedleBugg  2 роки тому +1

      Lisa. Yes 28 ct linen is fine as is 8 and 12 pearl cotton. Absolutely you can use colored thread. Make it your own. Does not need to be traditional. Go for it and just have fun. This will be a stitch at your own pace. So no meed to wait🤗😊

      @@NeedleBugg Karen at what point do you step down to the 5 and 8? How do you determine this?

    • @NeedleBugg
      @NeedleBugg  Рік тому +1

      22 ct is the only on I use 5 and 8. 25ct / 28ct /32 ct. 8 and 12. Do you have my handouts. There is a chart in there that gives suggested pearl cotton sizes.. if you don’t have them send me your email address and I will get them to you

    Hi Karen, I watch your channel all the time I love it, I have a question you said use size 8 and size 12 Perle cotton but in the directions it says to use size 5 and size 8 so umm 🤔🤔🤔 which is it I'm confused

    • @NeedleBugg
      @NeedleBugg  2 роки тому +1

      Shiela. I am using size 8 and 12 because I am doing mine on 32 count Lugana. If you use the 22 count hardanger then use the 5 and 8. The size pearl cotton you use is determined by the count fabric you are using.

    • @Tweety113724
      @Tweety113724 2 роки тому

      Ok thank you i know I am not using the 22count so I will have to count how many threads per inch lol and then I will go from there,. I am doing mine in red variegated on white lol I always like color I usually do go by what it says for example white on white , but I do me lol what I like , again thank you

    I purchased the pattern on Etsy but there are no instructions.... it does not tell me there are 62 blocks across and 102 down. It does not give you the starting point. So disappointed 😞

    • @NeedleBugg
      @NeedleBugg  Рік тому

      I had to count the 4 sided stitches to come up with 62 and 102. as far as starting point that is probably up to each individual stitcher. and how much margin to leave is also personal preference. margins normally depend on what you are going to do with the finished piece.
