I have a fox terrier which has a lot of similar traits. ‘Selective deafness’ is a hilarious way to describe such a frustrating trait 😂

My lakie is so funny. You nailed it: very smart, can learn, but doesn't want to because she's not interested. She is like the embodiment of ADHD. Playing with toys with her is a game of trying to keep her attention for more than 5 seconds. And that smartness... so many toys that involve putting treats in for a challenge that she has long since figured out the trick to. Which is just throwing it in the air until the treats fall out. She really is a big goofball. Love my baby

For first time dog owners I would recommend a lakeypoo (if you don’t care about KCG), they’re half toy poodle & Lakeland. They’re supposed to be slightly smaller (mine isn’t though haha), still have the terrier look but are slightly less stubborn

I finally got one last year. Took me forever to find, but a lot of this is true. I didn’t want a show dog, but only one available in a year of looking, his parents are champions. The energy he has is very high. He outlasts all other dogs he’s met in playing without getting tired. So far he actually hasn’t be very loud. Training is easy until he gets bored (he struggles with stay).

@@Doorhandle75 Mine is 13, I will never own another, she has been a problem child her whole life. She has always gotten along with the other dogs in the family, but none were terriers.

I think they may have some welsh terrier ancestry in the breed.

One word of advice. I own an Airedale Terriër and Lakeland Terriër. Never ever combine a Lakeland Terriër with a larger more dominant dog breed. Lakeland Terriers are very very dominant. They don't back down and never give up. Which is incredible really but can be fatal against larger dogs. They are extremely intelligent, very social and a absolute family dog. They always want to be with you and have their eyes on you. My Airedale is one big teddy bear which always minds his own business. Even tho he's 5 years older, over 20kgs more in weight he's not the boss in the house.
