Delicious and super-easy-to-make oven roasted sweet potatoes made with fresh herbs and butter! This dish will fill our kitchen with amazing aroma and will be gone in minutes; my favorite side dish!
Peeled, cubed sweet potatoes
salt, fresh ground black pepper
fresh thyme, fresh rosemary
dried basil, garlic powder, smoked paprika
butter, 1 tablespoon per potato
avocado oil or olive oil, 1 tablespoon per potato
INSTRUCTIONS
1. There are two different ways of preparing oven-roasted sweet potatoes. The first method is the one I used in my video recipe, which involves cooking the potatoes first, then seasoning them with butter and spices. This method works well if you need the sweet potatoes to be extra soft. Preheat oven to 350F. Place sweet potatoes into large pot filled with water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, just until the potatoes start to become tender. Drain water.
2. Toss together potatoes with melted butter and oil, herbs, salt and black pepper. Bake in preheated oven until fork-tender and golden brown, about 15 to 18 minutes. Broil for a few minutes on high heat to make the potatoes extra golden. Remove and transfer into serving bowl.
3. Method 2: The second method and the one I currently use requires less work. Just spread the raw sweet potatoes onto a baking sheet. Pour butter or olive oil over the potatoes, then add the seasonings, toss everything together and cover the pan with foil! Set your oven to 425F and roast the sweet potatoes covered for about 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes. For more color, broil under high temperature for a few minutes.

To all my viewers: I have had many comments regarding the amount of salt I added in this recipe. Each salt shaker/dispenser is different, mine dispenses very fine granules very little at a time. Please make note I am NOT adding an exorbitant amount of salt. Please add salt to taste; you can always add more if needed. thank you!
Thank you for letting us know.
How come some Man has not put a ring on your finger yet!!!! amazing channel
It's not even that much salt.. I can't stand over salted stuff, people in the comments are just whiny assholes don't mind them
sorry didnt have time to read ur comment but i think there was too much salt in this video didnt like
I don't care how much salt you put on, I just care if it taste good and doesn't make me sick.
I didn't choose the salt life.. Salt life chose me
Six years later and this lovely lady is still politely answering silly comments about the amount of salt!🤣
Haha, I try :)
Idk why people bitch so much about salt. Sodium is good for you
@@DemocracyOfficer2485 uhhh
@@paulohenriquealves2397 well it is.
Don’t use it. Silly question for sure
"I'm gonna season the water with just a little bit of salt"
*DROPS ENTIRE CONTAINER*
Then moments later she says to add 'a lot' of salt before roasting. I held tight to my chair in fear of how much that will actually be after seeing her 'little bit' earlier.
broahhh I know right... "a little bit of salt" she drop to much of it 😂😂
*insert vodka vine*
Lol
Black people cant eat all that SALT tho!!👀🤷🏽♂️. 😭😭😭😭
i wanna make this recipe but i only have 500g of salt
Jay Sullivan Rofl ! :D Indeed...

You should go play with yourself
hhahhahahahahaha
I love that you're making videos every week now :) keep it up!
Y’all killing me about this salt comment it’s literally a good amount of how much she has and you need flavor obviously some of y’all don’t know that and that’s ok
lol
Absolutely not. You do not need that much salt.
You really don’t need that much salt. That is a ridiculous if you served this to someone with a heart condition or NDI you could seriously send them to hospital.
mibro24 lol i also have to say I love salt so maybe that’s a little for me 😂😂
When boiling it's absolutely fine to add that amount of salt. Sweet potatoes will just absorb how much it needs
I have been using this recipe for years and I've never said thank you, so THANK YOU, I always find myself coming back to this recipe 🧡🧡🧡
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you enjoy the recipe!! :)
The way u seasoned these potatoes is my kind of cooking. New subbie on board! Yay!
that is an interesting idea. I usually do them sweet but I will give your recipe a try. Thank you Tatyana!!!
THESE R AMAZING!!this recipe is the perfect meal or side to a wonderful lunch or dinner!
I had 4 lbs of sweet potatos. Cut them an inch all around (squares). Boiled for 8 min. Oven at 450, and 25 min. Hope that helps someone out there. Also dont use too much salt lol. I think that should be a roughly good amount of time and tenderness of the sweet potatoes
This comment helped me, thank you. 😊
that for the temp and time. i will do roast simple, i want to keep the taste of sweet potatoes. thanks you
Thanks for the time
These comments are killing me hahahahahah

This looks fantastic! Will do it tonight. Love your teaching style too; very clear, concise.
For those complaining about levels of salt... No one is holding a gun to your head; Use as much as you deem right. :)
Gun?!?! Miss it's called "Different Opinions" 😏 That is what the comment section is for #TooMuchDamSalt 😋

I was looking for inspiration for what I am going to use for a dish with my turkey and this has helped a lot thank you so much
Glad it was helpful! I always have these for Thanksgiving!
Definitely going to try. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you enjoy the recipe! :)
I tried this recipe last night and it was such a great side dish!! If you have a very old stove like mine, you'll want to only boil for 5 mins otherwise it gets too soft too quickly. Other than that little setback, the SP still tasted great!! I also used Rosemary essential oil because it's hard to find fresh Rosemary in the countryside here. Thank you for this x
Awesome! :) I'm so glad you enjoyed the recipe! :)
Don’t know which part of the world you live but rosemary is very easy to grow if that’s something you’de like to do. I live in Scotland, picked a bit off my friends plant and stick it in the ground, and it is now the size of a small tree. It thrives in our climate.
After boiling the potato chunks, use a collinder to "fluff up" the potatoes. Just shake them in the collinder until they get a light fluffing to them do this after adding the herbs and spices and oils. Bang then straight into the oven, they'll get wonderfully crisp without having to use the Grill (Broiler). Fluffing up the roasties is a staple of a good roast potato in the UK. :)
Good job! Followed your recipe and it came out GREAT! Thank you very much! Gave you a thumbs up and subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you! I'm so happy you loved the recipe!
Yummy! I love sweet potatoes!
That salt looks bomb!
I made this last week and it was AMAZING!!!!!!! I highly recommend this recipe. I parked the slices of sweet potato skins separately to make sweet potato fries 😉

Great presentation
Making me hungry, I usually just do rosemary (my favorite spice), salt and pepper and olive oil. I like the idea of boiling fist. If I had seen this video before I went to grocery store I would have picked up some of the avocado oil. Will try next time, going to also add the paparika. Thank you.
Excellent!!
Many thanks!
The salt part has the same energy as the vine “two shots of vodka *pours the entire bottle* “
Haha :)
That's immediately what I thought of. lmao
Nice video. Nice one Ginge. Much Love.
Crackin' vid. Gonna get crackin' myself.

If you're complaining about how much salt she added to the water, you must be new to seasoning
Looks yummy though!
I only added olive oil no salt and it still tasted delicious. I shared with my dog 🐕

For those monitoring salt intake use less salt. This is a great video. I have never used salt on sweet potatoes. I will try with less salt for me. Everyone taste buds are different. Thanks again for sharing your recipe.🍠
That's really NOT that much salt, she is using the low sodium Morton salt that's got Potassium Chloride instead of NaCl, simmer down!
that's not low sodium morton, it's just morton's sea salt lol
Low sodium salt? LOL!!!
Lmao there’s a low sodium salt? Never heard of such a thing lol
