Quality stuff right here! I’m with you 100% with the offshore loop and coated cable. Don’t think I would change a thing. (Or rather will once I do start building my own) although I may consider wrapping the crimps with electrical tape or possibly shrink tube. Thanks again for taking time to show detail and give explanation. Keep ‘em coming!
Just found your channel, and love it! I’m just getting into shark fishing, but I’ve learned a lot from your vids already, so thanks for that. Do you use braided line on your reel, and tie the mono onto that? If so, what lb test main line do you use on your reels
400+ mono can get the job done and so can 480lb cable, all that it comes down too is personal preference. I recently switched to 1200 lb mono because it makes leadering fish a heck of a lot easier.
@@RunForTheReels thanks so much, will probably make the change after catching a few bigger sharks.. just started really getting into the whole catching 8+ footers phenomenon, love shark fishing
@@slewgi2982 yup always make sure to take great care of all the sharks especially hammerheads. Quick fight time and under a minute for time on the sand. Make sure they are ready to kick off when you release!
12/0, 3/0...etc is pronounced "ought"; twelve ought, three ought. Otherwise, you might sound like the type of person who would call scuba/free diving fins, "flippers", or fishing line "string".
Been watching for a couple months now, I had to subscribe after the last 30 seconds😂

We run 200lb hollow core on our big reels with about 30-150 yards of topshot. On the spinning rods we use about 3-6 ft of mono leader!
Piano good to either or
awesome vid, would 600lb mono and 480lb coated cable be fine for big bulls/tigers and maybe a hammer?
i’ll run a 20/0 hook and a 800lb swivel
