I have cancer and I've lost everyone in my family to cancer. My wife and I are alone in this world and she also has a terrible disease that is going to take her life too soon. Despite all of the hurdles thrown at us, we are strong Christians and the Petersens have been the best medicine we've ever had. We love their soulful sounds.
Most people have no idea how hard it is to nail a song like this live. The Petersens have it down to a unique art form. How many takes can you make while the fire is burning and the light is dwindling? Not many.
I don't know how many for this particular video but it usually takes them only 2 to 4 takes to shoot the video, 5 is already an exception. It's a craft The Petersens (together with their sound engineer and their videographer) have mastered extremely well.
I cried while my husband and I listened... this is just so beautiful... he held my hand - almost 44 years married he's had my heart... we made this our song. Thank you all so much. I praise the Lord for your family. Love and blessings from California.
My wife died from cancer on July 21, 2024. This was our favorite song in 42 years of marriage. Great cover Petersens!!! Thank you forever for giving her hope and inspiration in her final months.
Thanks Petersens. The Keating's song reminds me of my wife Annabella Posciatto who died a year ago here in Florence. She was an anesthesiologist and was 38 years old. She died from Covid 19 saving lives. I am also a doctor and despiste my sadness I continúe to work in the hospital. "When you say nothing at all" makes me remember her and is the path between sorrow and joy. Hopefully one day they will come to Florence, the most beatiful city in Italy and Europe, and can sing on the Vecchio bridge. Blessings.
Yep, turn that dang TV off! Step outside and look around. It's not all doom and gloom. The birds are singing, the kids are laughing, my neighbors are mowing the lawn and tending their gardens. I'm just gonna sit in this chair right here and listen to some more Peterson's music!
True. Not as big as Ellen's voice, but pure and sweet, and very solid. And she interprets beautifully. Katie's voice always pleases. Everyone in the band really does contribute something special.
Thank you. I've just lost my wife of 35 years. I'm picking up the pieces, but the tears are blurring out everything. Thank you for playing our song so beautifully.
This was an outstanding cover version of this great song. I had only associated the Petersens with Christian/Gospel music, nice to see they can do secular music as well!
Katie's voice is gorgeous and she sings like a bird, this whole production is so soothing, congrats Petersens and Emmett on a wonderful performance......
Hi Petersens family and friends, I'm a german musican and I'm fascinated. Each band member is deepened and shows a smile for the others. That is totally important, my respect. I love this devotion to music and harmony singing. It sounds really good.
its 2 am here in Tn. im in my wheelchair after having had a terrible day of pain . i am up taken my round the clock meds . i am in renal failure. Your music soothes my weary heart. I started playing as a guest in a bluegrass band in the late 60s. i have learned many genres but never forgot bluegrass. You version of this song was very beautiful.i think Alison Krauss would have been singing along proudly if she had heard you. Thanks for a treat that made moment just a little bit brighter. I love everything that yall do. God Bless you all. i am Art in W. Tn.
We heard them in Branson at Silver Dollar City pre-covid. I loved them then and they I still love them. Such sweet people and they have such beautiful harmonies! Love them!
In Ellen I see an inner-strength and power; full of confidence. Franz has a quiet demeanor; contemplative and somewhat sad. Matthew is someone who doesn't show his cards, but he too is very strong and determined. Katie, full of compassion, is the guardian of her siblings.
Wie kann nur eine ganze Familie so wunderbar musikalisch sein und noch dazu so gut aussehen? Das ist wirklich ein ganz besonderes Geschenk des Himmels...
I found The Petersens about 6 months ago. I have always regretted that I did not listen to you at all. Your musicianship is one of the best I've heard - ever! Your imagive is clean as you are all! I too am a Christian and I love your collection of songs! You never forget your base and always remember who gave you these truly incredible talents. God Bless you in your lives!
I'm a Paramedic. Yesterday I went to a man who was 91yrs and was extremely hypertensive with strokelike symptoms. And he and his wife were married 70yrs. It was so sad when they said goodbye. She was crying and quite distraught. He was a lovely man an ex police officer who had seen a lot over the years I later found out. With the Covid restrictions there are no visitors at hospital. The young lady who sang lead is gifted. This whole family is gifted. I'm sure they worked hard to get as good as they are, and they continue to work hard. I could hear her smile in the lyric "Old Mr. Webster -". How awesome to see a family do something this amazing together. God bless you, Petersens. Stay well.
*LYRICS - When You Say Nothing At All*
------------
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Well try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Oh you say it best when you say nothin' at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near you drown out the crowd
Well ol' Mr Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me
The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Oh you say it best when you say nothin' at all [x2]

Awesome rendition, Katie, wow!
Perhaps the most talented family in America. I can't imagine how proud their parents are of them.
While half the world's on fire and Corona is raging, it's comforting to hear so great music. Gives me hope ...
Half the world is not on fire. People for the most part are protesting peacefully.
