Hi Liz! So I'm here 2 years!! From B R and there are no thank you Liz comments?? Got my ticket and 2 day reservation for Council Buffs today Thanks in large part to you God bless you Liz. Gonna rewind this.
@@Sooch694 We discovered a whole load of my lyrics had disappeared, so I reposted them! UA-cam gremlins. Ahh, so glad you get to see them, it's been a long time coming!!
Agreed, but remember these guys are pro/semi-pro performers. The ladies are ALWAYS happy and looking at each other. Nothing wrong with it, but it's part of their performance.
Exactly this is what makes this lovely band that great!!! Well done!! I know what you're talking about, cause we practiced it with our choir, but it did'nt come to stage yet.
How to take an incredibly complex song from a completely different genre, put your own stamp on it, remain respectful to the original artists, and knock it out of the ballpark. I'm simply amazed at the musicianship and talent this family continues to reveal.
I agree with you that it is amazing that they were able to pull off this song in their style. My one problem it the tone they chose, It was too upbeat for me considering the song is about a man dying of aids. I think it should have had a more sorrowful feel to it. Other then that it was awesome.
Wow! This is what happens when mom rewards you for many years of spiritual and country music and says “yes you can do Queen”. This family is musical magic!
@@hattersmadness4701 Check your facts. The song came out in 1975. At the time the world had never heard of aids. Freddy Mercury never explained his lyrics. They are about a man who killed someone and who believes he is possessed by the devil. The text contains lots of religious and philisophical references.
Wow! I am completely blown away. In my lifetime I never imagined I would hear a bluegrass group cover Bohemian Rhapsody - and absolutely own it. Y'all are truly amazing!
The Petersens did something that not even Queen could do - play this song live. Queen used supplemental recording when they performed this song "live". Bravo.
We see Matt take a rare lead and we see how exceptionally talented he is. It takes humility to hang back with such talent. We also see once again how remarkable the group is together. If there is such a thing as group virtuosity, then here it is.
The more you listen to this the more you appreciate the various transitions, strong harmonies, an interplay between the various instruments. Matt is the lead but Julianne adds a contrast. Katie and Emmett have their usual unique combinations. And you should watch the facial expressions along the way - each appreciates what the other is doing. Altogether a remarkable performance of an enigmatic piece of music.
It is nothing short of perfect grace the way they delight in performing with, and supporting each other. You _see_ it in their eyes, their smiles; you _feel_ it in their voices, their music. Joyful.
This is absolutely brilliant. The original is a masterpiece. And you have recreated it in ways that are both surprising and true to the original. I’ve been listening for a year or so with admiration. But on this one I’m just blown away. Bravo.
I have seen a couple of versions of this song from The Petersens, but this one struck me on how enormously difficult it had to be to take this song and rewrite it for intruments that it were nothing like the original ones used in the song and then mix in the different voices to mimic the sound of the original, while still making it "The Petersens" sound and do it in one live take, with all of the changes in the tempo! Absolutely amazing!
OH MY GOSH, this is seriously one of the very best things *EVER!!* The harmonies, the bluegrass, everything! Spectacular! And so much fun! I sincerely hope and pray that Freddie is watching this and enjoying every second.

That is a extraordinary live acoustic performance. What an achievement, no even Queen could ever do that. And they put their own swing to it. I am impressed.
Wow! I'm a true blue-grasser and you folks are up there with the best of them in the bluegrass world. It doesn't matter what genre of music people listen to, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of those tunes that everyone knows and appreciates. You all took an old classic, put a soft bluegrass sound to it, and completely nailed it. My goodness!!!
Ok I admit it. When I learned you were going to do Bohemian Rhapsody, and do it LIVE I was sceptical. I couldn’t see how it could work in a bluegrass setting, and it’s very difficult with time changes and all the harmonies etc. but I am astonished at how you managed to reproduce some parts, adapt others and fold in the bluegrass harmonies so well. Not only did you succeed at doing all that, but you did it spectacularly well The parts you reproduced from the original you did faithfully and flawlessly. The bits you adapted to acoustic instrumentation you did inventively. It was excitingly creative and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Petersens, you knocked it out of the park. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am totally blown away! Excellent acoustic rendition of Queen's masterpiece using American country instruments!! Perfect chorus. Queen took months to complete multiple part voice overlay recording of the chorus. Their ability to reproduce this in a live chorus by using two microphones is totally amazing. AND at the same time, they are playing instruments, making their instruments picked up by those two microphones !!! The acoustic instruments and their live chorus made this piece sound so natural, humane and more resonating with our real life. On top of their ability to perform this, whoever arranged this piece for the Peterson's performance is also a superb music writer.
Daring to even perform the "Petersens' interpretation of this timeless Queen song, proves the musical diversity and professionality of these family group! 👏
I could write chapter and verse about the brilliant quality of this band...but that has been said many times by the thousands of their fans. What isn’t mentioned is the superb quality of the arrangements together with the final audio mix. It’s like a hearing the output of a 24 track production studio, instead of being recorded under field conditions with just a few mikes. As a veteran video producer, I’m very impressed.
That was really top class ..., so many talents in one family. That is also the secret of success because you have a special connection. And that Emmett fits in so well with the family is a godly fortune. The charisma of these 4 siblings is also unique, which rounds off the whole thing wonderfully. You really can't be topped and that's a good thing. I can already see Julianne playing the third instrument, yes, the banjo also suits her quite well. Yes, the versatility of this family of musicians is really amazing.
This just shows what great musicians you ALL are! Not an easy piece to do well, and of course you guys did just that! We could see the concentration. You never disappoint us. Will see you in another week!! Can't wait.
I listen to Bohemian Rhapsody every night before I can go to sleep. I think I can sing every part from memory. Such versatility from a great blue grass band.
Absolutely awesome! The complexity of this song instrumentaly and vocally is incredible. You folks took it to an amazing level. My new favorite version.
Possibly the best talent this family has is in arranging songs to suit the strengths of the group members. Each carries the load when required, and the brains behind the whole thing must be in constant overdrive imagining each section and bringing it in when it feels right and when it is fitting. When it feels right it is right at that moment, and Wow! the arrangement here is fantastic.
Wow. I never would have imagined you guys doing that song. Not surprised at all, though, that you did a fantastic job. Everyone was great on a pretty tricky song. That having been said, a special high five to Matt. I knew he had a great voice, but his take on a singer with one of the best vocal ranges of all time in rock music was amazing .
WOW! Who would ever thought that Bohemian Rhapsody could be done in this style (a little hint of blue grass). Well all I can say is it would take the Petersen family to make it work! Great performance guys. The timing and the vocals were done very well. You guys never disappoint!!
What a beautiful arrangement of rocks most complex song. The banjo riff of AC/DC's Thunderstruck at the end is icing on the cake! Just keep being you. Thank you.
Being from Uk and brought up with Queen ,this was mind blowing to say the least. I really do think Freddie would have love your take up of such a classic, you nailed it Petersens.
You really did an incredible job. I am a musician and composer myself (new classical music and guitar music published by Mel Bay, Acoustic Music Books ...) and I recommend your You Tube channel to my students to learn more about great handmade music. This time you have outdone yourself. Queen never played this piece entirely live. You made it. A wonderful arrangement by Katie. Mat gave the song his own interpretation and your choir singing is beyond any doubt. And as a guitarist, I really appreciate Emmett's excellent slide guitar playing. You can be very proud of yourselfes. Best regards from Germany.
On national radio in the Netherlands we have a show that's called the Top2000. The Top2000 consists of the best 2000 songs ever, based on what the audience voted for. It is aired between Christmas and twelve o'clock at night on New Years Eve, where the number 1 is aired in the last few minutes of the year. This started in 1999, as a special ending of the millenium thing. It has returned every year since. Most years Bohemian Rhapsody has been voted the number 1, so many Dutch people consider this the best song ever. Most covers don't do it justice. Yours does.
Pretty sure it's the most played song on radio in general as well, and I don't really get tired of it ever, even though I'm a bit of a music snob and don't like pop music
Bravo... fabulous job on a complex set of harmonies and rhythms... timing and blending of the instrumention and vocal harmonies were spot on as well as the vocal intro & outros that were spectacular. Looks like y'all had bunches of fun fun fun...Mama Mia, Mama Mia! Love 💘 your rendition! Keep up the good work! Salud
I admire your bravery for taking this on and coming up with the musical arrangement to suit your instrumental line up. That must have been tough to learn and bring together but you have done a great job and the vocals are excellent. I didn't know Matt had that higher register in his range and it's really good, you should use it more often. All in all you should be very proud of this, I really enjoyed it.
How is it even possible for four siblings and mama to blessed with this much musical aptitude? And the dobroist is absolutely phenomenal. I'm sure Freddy would be quite pleased.
This incredibly difficult Freddie song was interpreted superbly despite the limitations offered by the instruments. Everyone in this performance was at a high professional level. I am impressed. Congratulations!
I wonder how long it took you all to get to that end performance? It must have been a lot of fun. A real challenge with tempo changes, acoustic instruments in place of electric, who took which vocal parts, falsetto - good try , you gave what must be the most unique performance of this song- certainly that I've ever heard. 👏
WOW, goosebumps, absolute perfection!! Thank you for taking the time to perfect this piece, the vocals, instrumentation & arrangement, and sharing this with the world. Love to the Petersens!!
Los acabo de descubrir!! Que hermosas voces tienen!! Y el tema , despues de la version original, es lo mejor que escuche, felicitaciones !! Cariños desde America del sur, Argentina
Let's start by saying that I'm an hardcore Queen fan, and in my humble opinion they stay up above any other band ever. Let's go on by saying that "Bohemian rhapsody" is the quintessential expression of their art and skills. And let's finish by saying that I know it by the note, by having played and sung it with my own band many times. I would never, ever imagined that such a different interpretation of that monster song would have engaged me. But, hey, you are the Petersens and you deserve trust when you say you can do it. And you did it. Being yourselves and in the same moment paying a loving tribute to this monument song. Kudos especially for the solos and a special shoutout to Mama "Deacon" the Bass Player, always on point! Love from Italy.
Needed that gong at the end, lol. I wasn't sure how this would come out, considering the nature of the original, but I was not disappointed! Great job taking a real tough song, and making it your own. Great playing and singing!
You guys are the best thing I found in quarantine. It's amazing to watch all of you talented people work and play together in perfect harmony. You guys have brightened up many dark days in this past few months. Keep up the good work! Blessings from the Netherlands.
WOW JUST WOW Katie great job of arranging this song so many moving parts. You did a fantastic job. All of you performed flawlessly. Katie you assigned the right parts to the right people to make this into a fantastic production. LOVE IT. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely incredible! Brilliantly sung and preformed. This is one of the best things I’ve seen on utube . All the complexities captured, and they made it their own. I got goosebumps. You should be superstars.👏👏👏👍🎶
“Yeah they’re not gonna pull this off. Not gonna waste my time.” Just over 6 minutes later....speechless. I was already a fan and know that you all are amazing, but this is a tough song. This is a whole new level of respect. Amazing work! Love it!
Wild indeed! And it seems there were a good number of people already subscribers to both channels! The band haven't done this one in the studio, but it's on their Live Sessions, Vol. 02 album li.sten.to/livesessions02
I've been playing music for more than 50 years and this taught me something. I've never been able to sound like the original artist and felt that's a failure of my ability. You have taught me that it's not the point to replicate it exactly, but to just do it and make it your own version. I was on the fence with the song choice at first, but you all nailed it and made a very entertaining piece. I love nearly everything you do! Keep it up! ❤️
When I saw the title, I thought "well, this will be interesting". If someone told you they were going to cover Bohemian Rhapsody with a banjo, a dobro, a fiddle, a bass, and a mandolin, you'd wonder about that. A bluegrass band interpretation of a rock classic? Yeah, right... But credit goes to the Petersens for what was a really entertaining and well-executed cover. This band is just so talented. Now that they've shown they have the chops to cover an old rock classic, the sky is officially the limit. I just wonder what kind of physical pain was inflicted on Matt for him to reach those high notes!!
So great! I never really liked this song but decided to listen because I am very impressed with everything the Petersens do! This was unbelievably great! That young man was great, the musicians were all great, and the harmon6! Awesome!
Very brave to perform such a difficult, intricate, classic... and very cleverly arranged, and a brilliant performance too. Well done The Petersens! Many thanks for all the positiveness you inject into our lives.
Listening to this I heard things that I didn't even hear in the original! Its amazing how you can do such an amazing job of covering one of the most complex songs ever written!
Guys, this is the holy grail of rock history. First I thought, oh no please don't...but you can tell that you approached it with a lot of respect. You did justice to the song. Well done.
This song was so intricate that not even Queen would do the mama mia part live. Too many harmonies and mixes to do live. It takes a lot to pull it off and y'all did it with banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitars. The one thing missing was the Red Special, but I think only Brian May can do on it what Brian May does. I liked it, brought a smile to my face. Gave a good rockopera song a country twist.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (ooh poor boy)
I need no sympathy
(Because I'm easy come, easy go)
(Little high, little low)
(Ooh) Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooh
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on
As if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave it all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooh
(Any way the wind blows)
I don't wanna die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, scaramouche
Will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolts and lightning
Very, very frightening me
Galileo (Galileo)
Galileo (Galileo)
Galileo Figaro
Magnifico-o-o
Oh, I'm just a poor boy
Nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah, no, we will not let you go (let him go)
Bismillah, we will not let you go (let him go)
Bismillah, we will not let you go (let him go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
Never ever, ever let me go-o-o-o?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Mama mia, mama mia) mama mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh baby
Can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out
Just gotta get right out of here
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me
Any way the wind blows...

Everyone was great on a pretty tricky song. That having been said, a special high five to Matt. I knew he had a great voice, but his take on a singer with one of the best vocal ranges of all time in rock music was amazing .
Wow! Talk about a complex and difficult arrangement - well done Petersens!
Volker Luft Absolutely agree with you on all points
Just happened by some of their videos tonight....absolutely BLOWN away!!!
Bravo... fabulous job on a complex set of harmonies and rhythms... timing and blending of the instrumention and vocal harmonies were spot on as well as the vocal intro & outros that were spectacular. Looks like y'all had bunches of fun fun fun...Mama Mia, Mama Mia! Love 💘 your rendition! Keep up the good work! Salud
Paul so true............... I adore fresh new harmonies and arrangements of the classics!
Julianne" my favorite voice, I find myself flying in a feeling for a while
I admire your bravery for taking this on and coming up with the musical arrangement to suit your instrumental line up. That must have been tough to learn and bring together but you have done a great job and the vocals are excellent. I didn't know Matt had that higher register in his range and it's really good, you should use it more often. All in all you should be very proud of this, I really enjoyed it.
Simultaneously the most incredible but also most square performance of this song. I think I love it
It takes guts to attempt such a difficult and recognized classic. And you knocked it out of the park! Congratulations!
Omg that was freaking awesome guys. Yall nailed it💪. Killer job on lead Matt. Instrumentation was on point. Well worth the wait. Bravo bravo!! 🕺👏👏👏👏 ❤
I had to hear it again after Fil on Wings of Pegasus reviewed it very nicely I'll add. Great Live work on the song 🎵!
That is simply amazing! I've never heard any group cover this song.
Words aren't good enough to describe the Petersens they are as perfect a group as I've ever heard, watching or listening
How is it even possible for four siblings and mama to blessed with this much musical aptitude? And the dobroist is absolutely phenomenal. I'm sure Freddy would be quite pleased.
Respect. To each and everyone of you. This is a masterpiece. 👏
This incredibly difficult Freddie song was interpreted superbly despite the limitations offered by the instruments. Everyone in this performance was at a high professional level. I am impressed. Congratulations!
Oh my goodness. . .I'm frankly just blown away. How much work did this take? Unbelievable. Bravo. Much Respect.
Just amazing, each unique Petersen slant worked a treat on this complex song. Thank you for all the hard work you put in, made my day.
Agreed
Ok, that was an insane amount of talent packed into one room.
You made a beautiful version with the high to low changes it turned out to be absolute perfection
This looks like it took a lot of skill to put together. This song has a lot going on. Respect.
You're amazing... Cannot wait to see what is next
I‘ve mixed feelings
I‘m a big QUEEN connoisseur and i love BR and I love you 🤷♂️
I wonder how long it took you all to get to that end performance? It must have been a lot of fun. A real challenge with tempo changes, acoustic instruments in place of electric, who took which vocal parts, falsetto - good try , you gave what must be the most unique performance of this song- certainly that I've ever heard. 👏
Not Freddy Mercury, but very entertaining.
@@williamlaniganiii1720 Freddy tried
Once again yall knock it out of the park! Awesome job on such a technical song with so much going on!
WOW, goosebumps, absolute perfection!! Thank you for taking the time to perfect this piece, the vocals, instrumentation & arrangement, and sharing this with the world. Love to the Petersens!!
Superb! Incredible musicianship, and lots of fun to hear this take on a classic.
Now you’re just showing off😉. Bravo 👏.
Hahaha! Perfect comment.
THIS IS JUST CRAZY, You killed it!!! You're rock stars! 🤩
I can’t listen to ANY song done by The Petersons without it bringing a huge smile to my face!
❤❤
Amazing
How I feel as well
Los acabo de descubrir!!
And the fellah can sing too. What a marvellous group! Everyone shines but no one blinds.
One of the hardest songs ever in rock music! And to maintain that Queen flavour!Brilliant rendition guys! Love from INDIA.
As usual the Petersen’s have knocked it out of the park
“Yeah they’re not gonna pull this off. Not gonna waste my time.”
Just over 6 minutes later....speechless. I was already a fan and know that you all are amazing, but this is a tough song. This is a whole new level of respect. Amazing work! Love it!
To get noticed by Pegasis is WILD - Fantastic work - needs to be on an album!!
Wild indeed! And it seems there were a good number of people already subscribers to both channels! The band haven't done this one in the studio, but it's on their Live Sessions, Vol. 02 album li.sten.to/livesessions02
Such a complex arraignment.. they played magnificent!!
Great number. Matt really shines here; so many moving parts and it all comes together so very, very well. Congrats to everyone.
I am a rock snob critic....somehow this rendition touched me more deeply than any other cover I've ever heard. Thank you.
Totally agree, and I'm not really into Bluegrass and that kind of stuff.
That thunderstruck bit at the end was precious 😀
Ahhhhhh! That's what it was. I've been racking my brains trying to recall what the tune was.
yeah I'd like to see their version of that
@@IfUfindthisURlost Sounds to me like "The Church Bells of Konevitsa" (In Finnish "Konevitsan kirkonkellot")
Keep it up! ❤️
YOU GUYS NAILED IT. i love all your content!
Matt, you’re not only a great guitarist,, you have a beautiful voice
Well done! Great arrangement, and the vocals were superb.
Whoa! I love the musicianship & harmonies. Perhaps one of the most interesting cover of the song.
I love hearing Matt sing! I wish he would get more solos!
Must have been tight jeans......
I noticed he tried to go really high then thought better of it.
Lol
Wrangler or Lee jeans?
So great! I never really liked this song but decided to listen because I am very impressed with everything the Petersens do! This was unbelievably great! That young man was great, the musicians were all great, and the harmon6! Awesome!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Nothing but congrats to you guys! Keep going!
Well done.
I'm not sure I agree …
This song was so intricate that not even Queen would do the mama mia part live. Too many harmonies and mixes to do live. It takes a lot to pull it off and y'all did it with banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitars. The one thing missing was the Red Special, but I think only Brian May can do on it what Brian May does. I liked it, brought a smile to my face. Gave a good rockopera song a country twist.
It doesn't get any better than this! Love the "Sweet Home Alabama" transition at 1:42. Amazing!
