It's so weird that some people assume playing a game means you have to play it forever. Sometimes 3 months is enough time to enjoy a game and move on. Too many people identify as the game they play. Like "I'm an FF14 player" instead of "I'm playing FF14 RIGHT NOW"

I don't think Arthar is being disingenous here, but I think he's really biased from his perspective as a raider. Like, the people that are super welcoming and friendly during the MSQ are just not going to be the same people sticking around for hours a day of savage/ultimate prog. Of course someone doing post MSQ raiding is gonna attract more toxicity than a casual story stream. That's just the nature of endgame content, in MMOs especially.

Difference between most communities in this game and my own community i created around barding is, most other communities are elitist and around making the community leaders rich in game, whereas my own community lead mostly by myself was lead by someone who would help anyone else wanting to play music but not knowing how have me within 5 mins sort out their keyboard, give them the midi files for songs they want and teach them how to use timing etc.. and on top of that it was not about making money, it was about making enjoyment for people, i always had only a few hundred Gil at most on my main because of this, and any time i made gil through actual game content i almost imediately spent it on making my free company private room better, and spending it on my friends houses who where being used as nightclubs by the nighttime community of DJ's. We had such a blast to be honest, and it was mostly fun doing community driven content, where elitism was less of an issue. Getting involved in any of the various cliques who i had friends within just caused issues, and ended up with me spending too much time sorting them out to stop it effecting my bard community.. needless to say ive had to take ever increasing breaks from the game, with this last one being a few months this time rather than a week or two. I bet that when i go back massive divides will have formed and the community will be totally different, hell i took a two week break and came back once to a community completely different and the bard community on the server had almost died because of it. Spent a month trying to rebuild it, but found rather than trying to sort out the divides i was having more luck just picking up newer people to join the community as those pathetic divides over things that where trivial where just two strong a divide, and whats worse is those divides where caused by one or two individuals who for almost no reason just wanted to cause drama over nothing.
Strong personalities on entitled people can destroy communities easier than it takes to build up a community, even if that community has a strong foundation.

I think it's because of the Synchronize system that is in place of the FF14. That even if you have a God like gear you don't really feel it, but it's ok. I am used to it now.
What I am trying to say is that Asmon can just complete his MSQ and leave the rest if he doesn't feel like it. There are a lot of streamers that plays MSQ and once his or her MSQ is complete, they just left and play other games and come back when there are updates or new story lines.

Worth a note that each end every one of these stages has a chance of being a different subgroup of people (so those in step 2 aren't necessarily the same people in step 5 for example), but this is a pretty fair birds-eye view.

Final Fantasy XIV is a fun game, but it's different from other MMORPGs in that I don't really feel like you're supposed to keep playing it the entire expansion. The content is very easy to get into and it's not punishing at all to get out either. It's just not comparable to a game like WoW, where the design goal is to keep you playing all the time. Either option is fine, both games have their own strengths. There were many times were I'd hoped for a mode similar to Mythic+ when I was bored in FFXIV for the lack of gear progression outside of raids, and there were times when I played WoW and felt really left behind because I missed a few months of content with no easy way of catching up and playing with friends. Ultimately it comes down to what you enjoy, and you don't even have to pick between the games.
Ultimately the best FFXIV experience for the average player would probably be finishing the story, the EX trials, some Savage fights and maybe an Ultimate if they really wanna put themselves through some pain, and then returning for the next big expansion. There is just very little reason to stay subscribed for 2+ years, and the devs keep telling people that yet some players don't listen and get burnt out or complain about lack of grindable content. I think these are just two philisophies crashing.

  • @baka2k6
    @baka2k6 Рік тому +2

About the bigger streamers getting carried..... yes they absolutely get carried. And it's not even about their personal skill, some of them are good from the getgo. The thing is they get handed a capable group and perfect learning environment for harder content immediately without any doubt or discussion and hardly ever get dragged down by the failure of other players. Combine that with almost unlimited time to play the game if they decide to do so and they are bound to succeed easily. No one should hate them for it but if streamers think they don't get carried doing hard content they are in denial. Depending on the game I would assume a normal player would have to put in about 3 to 5 times the time and effort as a big streamer to beat the same content. The whole situation can easily make people jealous, especially if they have limited time playing the game cos of work. Getting mad about it doesn't help them either though, that's the sad truth.

Then my friend convinced me to try 14…. Going from an mmo where your already in endgame, a game you know how to play and your really fukn good at playing, to a game where you have to wait through base and 3 long ass expansions to get to the current end point is a fukn commitment man. I been playing 14 for a year now and I just finished stormblood, I’m not even up to fukn shadowbringers yet man. It gets frustrating and yes sure the story only gets better, but that doesn’t suddenly wipe out the fact that every time I finish another expansion I have to quit for a month or so just to prepare myself for the absolute shitload of random shit I just know I’m gunna get involved in doing before I even get to the next expansion…. It’s just a lot man. The game is massive, and everything is locked behind the story, not saying that’s a bad thing but it’s just tiring even if you love it.

i got bored on my main character because everything got kinda stale for me so i made an alt to experience the story again, and focus more on glamour than fighting / MSQ 🤷🏾‍♀️ FF14 is what you make it

I would love to see Asmon tackle the harder content in ff14 at max level. I think the highest level he played was like level 60

The FF14 community wasn't like this until the game became popular and had a surge of new players. When something becomes mainstream, sadly all the rats come too.

I'm still hoping Asmon goes back and finishes the FFXIV story. I want to see him react to some of my favorite storytelling in video games ever. I legitimately think he would probably be crying like the rest of us in Endwalker. xD

Damn. Sounds like I need to be a streamer for FFXIV in order to get the proper experience doing content. The worst part about doing content with randos isn't needing to wait for someone to understand mechanics (though that can be a factor) it's the lack of patience and perseverance to get through the whole encounter. I can't tell you how many times people will refuse to learn and expect to be carried. It's why statics are practically mandatory at this point.

I think that the base trials are there just for the main story. Like, it's easy to do, somewhat hard because you're supposed to be leveling up, getting stronger, blah, blah, blah and the base trials are there just to help you progress through the story. The harder trials/raids/whatevers exist for those who actually enjoy having a challenge instead of just watching a story.

someone needs to show him the arthars video about him talking about how its literally impossible to be carried in a current ultimate. You can absolutely be carried in the old ones. TOP? That shit is perfectly tuned in a way that EVERYONE needs to be at 100% or you're just not going to make any progress whatsoever.

Ngl, thanks to this man I returned around 5.5, though I wasn't motivated to do anything endgame at the time. It was a hilarious trip watching his + community's reactions, even if a number are a bunch of smoothbrain 1-game Andys (that goes for Wow and FF) or MSQ Vampires.
Hopefully we can watch his FF strims again next content lull (or in a better state cuz it sucks ass atm) regardless of the above, I'd love to see him and the family run endgame Savages + Ultimates past HW + Alexander (which are prob still the hardest Savage besides Creator). Maybe this time the weirdos can be better moderated

@18:04 - The Passive Advantages of a Streamer; Totally True - If I were to start, or get in a PF for an Extreme or Savage Prog the group will disband within 30mins because the party is not proging fast enough, or wiping to frequently. Substitute a player for a streamer and all of the sudden the same group will prog for hours until they get the clear.

Let's not also forget that while a streamer gets an advantage in vetting people and all that while doing something like a raid. A streamer also had to put in the time and work to do the streams, and get noticed, and get noticed before that even took place. It's like going to trade school or getting a useful degree. You spend a shit load of money and time, and the advantage is that it's easier to get into higher-paying positions.
