    My mother is 83 years old, she is from West Berlin. She has been making this dish all my life but hers is much different than the recipes I've seen on line and hers is delicious.

    If your store does not have thin sliced beef, grab a round roast and ask the butcher in the meat department to slice it 1/4" thick. Most will be happy to do it. If there is a chunk left over, you can roast it or simmer it in a stew or pot roast.

    My mother did a version of this simply called "steak rolls". Strips of thin sliced round steak with bacon browned and then simmered on low heat with onions until done. The rolls were held together with toothpicks. These were popular ot our house. We shared based on the number of toothpicks on your palate. Everyone noted how many toothpicks the others had to insure sharing!

    It looks a great recipe, is the mustard very hot ?

      Traditionally it is a yellow mustard but some people prefer hot mustard too. It depends on your own preference. But all variations are super yummy :)

    Ich vermisse meine Oma :( Die konnte alles from scratch kochen. Danke fuer die klassen videos. Seit ich in den staten lebe kann ich meiste ingredients nicht finden :(

      Omas sind einfach die Besten! Ich koche auch mit US Lebensmitteln und die Rezepte sind angepasst, sollte für dich hoffentlich auch klappen.

    Kann man Rouladen mit Rotkohl / Blaukraut servieren? Can rouladen be served with rotkohl / blaukraut?

      Absolut, das passt perfekt und wird so oft serviert. Red cabbage is the perfect side dish for Rouladen.

      No, it´s an older pot, but my husband is the perfect pot cleaner. He supports me wonderfully in my cooking videos by doing the dishes. His trick is to soak the pots immediately in soap water.

      Well, that is all that I can get here and that is what is sold as bacon :) Lucky you, if you get better quality. But I can assure you it still works fine with the bacon I got as the beef is very lean.

      @@giddyup4232 "if that was all I could access I wouldn't bother" basically saying don't bother eating since you can't have better ingredients. My point stands. Also just to be clear you render the fat out of the bacon as it frys. Just go away and eat your "superior " ingredients.
