- VOCES8 sings 'Sing Joyfully' by William Byrd in Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, USA.
Psalm 81, verses 1-4:
Sing joyfully to God our strength; sing loud unto the God of Jacob!
Take the song, bring forth the timbrel, the pleasant harp, and the viol.
Blow the trumpet in the new moon, even in the time appointed, and at our feast day.
For this is a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
My favorite singers and one of my favorite composers. Perfect.
Great to see people still appreciate music such as this. Excellent voices from all
Wow! This is my 1st time looking this up. I am a descendant of William Byrd and I am in awe and feel blessed. He would be proud to know that some of his descendants are still in music. We don't do classical music but the style we do has gotten recognition and praise from many people. Some of us from people around the world.
Sing joyfully. I think I will as I am grateful for one more day!
I always feel like I am in heaven when I hear these eight magnificent singers in glorious harmony. They each deserve such great applause;
and as for the arranger of their songs, even a resounding BRAVO is not enough in terms of praise. Thank you all for being, and for sharing 🎶👏💕
The Glory Of God The Father, Son Lord Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit!
Yes! Praise God!
@@richelleolson5917 AMEN!!
I hope that people of Byrd’s time were fortunate enough to hear his music sung so exquisitely. Thank you all, Voces8, for your sublime and generous offering to the world of music!!! 🙏🏼🎶🎶❤️💥
Superb voices it's just so inspirational that people are still singing music like this. I LOVE IT!!!!
Good Lord bring it back!
@@vinmar4551 AMEN!!!!!
Superb! Thank you. One can only imagine the intense pleasure of being an integral part of such vocal perfection.
Throwback to TMEA 2016-17 👌
How sweet! My weary ear rests after these years... Please perform again soon!
PERFECTION would be the word that defines you better, guys.
Really, I haven´s known any octet as perfect as this!!!
Amazing singing! Thank you I’m sick and this helps calms my nerves
Grace Cathedral has excellent acoustics and VOCES8 sounds divine, here! As always, I thank them for this performance video, which lifts my spirits.
Probably the fastest speed I'd take it but it is fantastic. The expression is on point and the piece itself is great. William Byrd is such a fittie!
Polyphonic singing in perfection, that’s the simple technical truth. But when it comes to describing the uplifting effect the brilliant presentations of you amazingly talented people has on me, I’m at a total loss for words.
Agreed in every aspect
Amen!
The very best of new year salutations - sing joyfully; the clear joy-filled polyphony of Byrd; the unmatched musicality of VOCES8.
I saw them there!! Voces8 ROCKS! The concert was breathtaking and I was a total fangirl. :)
Thank you, Voces8, for the clarity with which you navigated the polyphony of Byrd. A testament to your talent and hard work, indeed.
Joel Hieber: Pretty much what I wanted to say. 😁 Thanks so much guys!
I sang this song one year in choir for TMEA! Such a beautiful piece 💖🎼
I got to sing this piece in college. It's truly a blessing 🙏 to hear how much respect you have given this work. There is nothing in the world like the ringing of that last chord in a cathedral. Bravo.
A moi ulubieni wykonawcy nadal w świetnej formie! :D jesteście wspaniali! Dziękuję Wam! :)
Pure blessed joy. King David would have loved this.
I love VOCES8
Vaulted ceilings to match the vaulting voices - I love it!
Marvellous rendition of this stunning composition! Thank you! :)
An exquisite performance. At this plague time, we await "the new moon." thank you!
This is so beautiful
Perfecta interpretación polifónica de la partitura de Byrd. Perfecta superposición y emisión de las voces.

New tenor has a beautiful voice
I was devastated to have missed you in my home city but I’m so glad you recorded at Grace. I was so excited to see this when I opened it up. Exquisite and perfect, as always. Come back to SF soon, please. And Happy New Year. ☺️🧡
DIVINE!!
Our New Year treat of treats! Such joy to hear your lovely voices. Thank the Lord that you share with us your wonderful gift.
Hermoso! :) ♡
Wow sheer Perfection ❤😊😊
Wonderful. A perfect choir in size and sound for this.
Good start to the year
Byrd sublimely sung.
Great video. William Byrd is one of my many favorite renaissance composers along with Palestrina, Praetorius and Tallis. I really enjoyed seeing you guys perform there back in November of 2019.
Very impressive singing as always and an amazingly impressive church being sung in.
Amazing! And only those of us who have sung a cappella truly know how difficult this piece is!
Joyfully performed and beautiful singing as always!
J'adore énormément ses coeurs qui sont formidable merci beaucoup pour ce partage, bonne année a tous le groupe amitiés Gérard 👍🎺🎶🎹🎷🥰🌞🎻🎵
This is beautiful and sublime and thank you all so much
Great blend and tempo.
LOVE your selections so much...and I so miss singing good music and harmony, blending the voice...matching the others...hearing the chords...all of it...as my voice is pretty much gone these days (I'm an Octogenarian)...
Beautiful music in a beautiful place! I wanted to get married there but had to settle for spending part of my honeymoon there (3 choral services on Christmas Eve 2000).
Yay! Blow the trumpet in the new moon.
Stunning, simply stunning!! Hope you had a chance to walk the indoor labyrinth.
Thanks. Continue for a long time, please.
Happy New Year! 🎶
Praise the Lord
AMEN!
finally, a chance to figure out who's singing which vocal part!😌
Lol yeah
They're on their way to Nashville, our home. Music City is indeed honored!
It's a good start for this year 2020 ❤❤❤. More videos to come 😁
Divine echo on ‘Blow the trumpet ... in the new..moon..’
I almost failed to recognize Grace because of the bright illumination. My sacred spot in S.F.
The singing: perfect as always. The camera view: I would prefer a more close up view to each of the singers
In contrast, I like this alternative. It replicates what I would get sitting right there in the front pew and allows me to focus on any which singer I, not the camera director, choose to focus on.
I think it's obvious they were on tour, loved the space in which they were singing, and decided to do an impromptu recording.
@@brad5286 Yes! That too!
Beautiful!
use an other video
lot of close ups
I get to sing this arrangement in a small chorale this summer (providing the you-know-what virus doesn't get in the way.) Looking forward to it if the end result is even close to being this lovely.! Excellent work, Voces8. You guys are true artists,
It is my dream to sing this!
yay
Tänud imelise esituse eest ja soovin kauneid elamusi ka alanud aastal A.D. 2020 üle maailma lauluga rännates ning Jumalale kiituseks !:)
It's not long enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gottes Segen
😍
You know you've got a high voice when you replace Blake at 1st tenor... 😮
Wonderful as always, but the camera distance makes for a very remote pleasure - what a pity.
SAINT LUCAS HERE
This is good. The women ... I dream of them.
I do love this ... thank you. I just think that this needs a bigger choir ... just my opinion 🤷🏻♂️
banner ad covers up singers; cathedral begins to sing.
Fantastico!!!! Did you ever sing Palestrina's "Surge Illuminare Jerusalem"? My dream is to hear you singing it, you can find scores here :-D www0.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Surge_illuminare_Jerusalem_(Giovanni_Pierluigi_da_Palestrina)
That alto looks foxy
