Nothing is wrong with having an OF but what is wrong is having one without informing your potential partner or getting approval from your partner to do it. I'm so tired of people trying to excuse exposing themself to others behind their partner's back and trying to say it's okay because "Oh I'm just poly" Or "I'm not actually sleeping with other people irl so it's not cheating." Most people go into a relationship with the expectation of being exclusive. If you don't discuss and agree upon being able to expose yourself to other people, then you are a cheater for doing it. People who are like this lady are one of the worst kinds of people.

@@jamesgornall5731 Yes it's an actual thing and nothing is wrong with it. Nothing is wrong with dating multiple people as long as all parties involved consent to it. I even know a couple who are open to intercourse with other people, but both people agree with each other that is okay to do it and it's 100% consentual. The problem is though that lots people try to say that to excuse cheating, despite not having consent.

@Juzokinnie, it's OK. There's no need to be defensive. I'm just asking regarding the terminology, I'm 40 and have teenage children, I'm trying to keep up with changes in culture. There might be new labels but there's little difference in actual behaviour. When I was in university everyone was sleeping with everyone else; some were in the dark but most not only knew but were highly enthusiastic. Thankfully back then there wasn't much chance of having your antics recorded and transmitted without permission (although it was not unknown in 2002 and 2003, it just needed slightly bulkier equipment). I worry today because such recording is easy to accomplish.
I actually wouldn't mind if my girl had an OF. All I ask is that 1) she let me know in advance, and 2) she not post her privates on the internet. I know a girl on the Internet who uses OF for sexy cosplays and she's one of the most chill and friendly people I know. She's even married now.
