    Hey guys happy to hear you’re going to Brad’s on Friday for the open house. You’ll be forging a friendship with Andrew and I’m confident that one of his Eastonmade splitters will end up in your Woodyard. Cheers and enjoy the trip.

    I’m on the west coast where we only have like three hardwood species we make wood out of. I can’t keep track of all the species you have.
    Wanted to mention that early on in this video I watched you dump that load of logs while turning sharply. I did that once with a brand new high quality dump trailer and bent one side out enough that the gate was at about 30 degrees. Thank God I have a buddy like your other buddy Chris who was able to straighten it back out. I’m sure the dealer would have charged me a fortune. Anymore I always dump logs driving straight forward.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  Рік тому

      Haha yep there were a tons of species on my arborist exam! Whenever I dump the trailer I keep the truck in neutral or drive with my foot on the brake. This helps let the load push the truck and trailer naturally helping to avoid any unnecessary strain.

    As far as I know that is the way your supposed to pin the pick on the log ox. they're easy to lose. I wrapped mine in electrical tape to keep It in place.

    I gooled log dogs for the 500i and got a pair of realy nice ones you loose about 1 inch of cutting but in thick bark wood they realy bite. If i remember right they right they were a little over 25.00 dollars, (my opion)is they are well worth the money compaired to stock ones

    Take the green foam filter oil it and put it on the factory filter and put the factory cover back on ,works well. The west coast bark boxes fall apart from poor manufacturing practices.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  Рік тому +1

      I’ve done an overview video on my trailer set up a while back. Buy the biggest one you can afford and legally tow… once you get past a certain weight CDL’s are required in some states even when towing with a pick up. Do research on the different powder coating techniques manufacturers use… hoist mechanism is highly dependent on how often you plan on dumping it. You get what you pay for.

    Curious why you separate your totes by species? Do customers request one over another?

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  Рік тому +1

      I separate because I charge different amount for more desirable species. Ash, maple, birch I consider “bulk”. Oak, hickory, cherry, locust, I all charge a premium for. Not so much that the customer request it, but I ask them what species they’d like for the type of burning they do. Most have never been asked this….This alone separates me from the rest of the local “firewood guys” and kinda of gives it a more personalized touch for each customer. At the end of the day it’s not really much more extra work for me.

    that straight shot has nothing to do with the cutting speed. they should call it ear shot instead.

  • @kurtcooper3699
    @kurtcooper3699 8 місяців тому

    @ first, I thought this was a chainsaw video about 500i & straight shot. Then I realized it's about music & and high-speed filming.
    Please take this constructively. Rather, be a shorter video than a high-speed, longer musical.
    Just saying......

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  8 місяців тому

      I make videos that I enjoy watching and find entertaining, I hope others do as well. If you’d like to listen to the high pitched drone of a high performance chainsaw exhaust for the entirety of a video I’m sure there’s some guy who slapped his phone on a tripod and let it record for ten minutes. Don’t forget your ear protection!!
