I have a copy of the Japanese Mega-Drive Rainbow 🌈 Islands Extra on it’s way, which has the Extra version and also the original Arcade 1987 version, so it’s two games in one, and thanks to my Super Retro Trio + I can play it with the Mega-Drive Region Switch set on NTSC-J, can’t wait to play it, I played the NES version first, but the Mega-Drive or PC-Engine versions are the arcade perfect ones
MD version isn't arcade perfect, vanilla RI has no 3 extra islands, and Extra doesn't work like the arcade version at all, but the original RI. In Extra, the secret rooms shown here, the item inside can be manipulated. After getting the gems in ROYGBIV order, the item in the bonus room correlates to whatever color gem you catch last before fighting the boss. You can get the Big Book of Continues in the first island with the right colored gem (that continue book doesn't work at all in the MD version, you still get a continue limit the whole game). That book is quite important in islands 8-10, if you don't have it and lose all your lives, it's Game Over, and back to the beginning of the game for you.
@@ultramaster2o1studios53 EXCEPT for ONE version, the Windows release, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands, from Empire Interactive (not to be confused with the earlier Win 95 Acclaim release, which was garbage). I've re purchased a ds juat so I can play this game again. It's the most stupid, but addictive game. That's the only way to describe it!. Only started playing it yesterday and I'm on the 3rd World
The colour of the gem is based on the location where the enemy's body lands. For example, landing on the far left creates a red gem, while landing on the far right creates a purple gem. You have to kill enemies so they land in the correct position to give you the correct gem colour, but you also have to collect them in the correct sequence 🙂
Yes - you have to crush them with the rainbows, rather than just shooting them with it 🙂 To make it even trickier, every 3rd enemy you kill this way will always drop a power-up (e.g. red/yellow potion), not a gem - it limits the number of chances available to get all the gems 🙂

I like the Arkanoid level because Arkanoid is a fun game, it’s like Breakout only with power ups
Taito Legends on the PS2 Introduce me to this and i Really Love it! Even though i did not get fair.
Wicked. Top work. Patience of a Saint! 😇
Las secrets rooms sólo aparecen si recoges los diamantes de colores en orden... sacar todas las secrets rooms de todos los niveles es dificilísimo... yo no sé cómo lo has hecho. Mis dieses. GG
My favourite game in childhood..one time played so much and get collapsed.
So this was bubble bobble 2, I can see where all those parasol star monsters came from. They should now they need to re-release the whole bubble bobble trilogy In its original format.
Bubble Bobble
Rainbow Islands
Parasol Stars
Bubble Symphony
Bubble Memories
Bubble Bobble Part 2 NES
2 Game Boy Bubble Bobble games that were unique to the handheld
That's more than a trilogy, not to mention the later games that were for the more modern handhelds, but those can be skipped as they are bad.
@@Bloodreign1 😂 I love the brutal honesty of that last part of that comment but definitely that list of games needs to be rerelease.
childhood
Was the "Somewhere over the rainbow" mix removed in later releases? I played this on Taito legends and i dont remember that at all
It was. Later versions had the theme altered to avoid legal problems.
@@ultramaster2o1studios53 EXCEPT for ONE version, the Windows release, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands, from Empire Interactive (not to be confused with the earlier Win 95 Acclaim release, which was garbage). Basically it's emulation of both games, and RI's music is unaltered. It was a PAL PC release, but works fine with US PC's, bought a copy years ago off Ebay.
I’m my childhood I never reached 3rd boss stage
Con i giochi della Taito di questo genere ti schizza la glicemia a duemila😂

Never knew about this game before!
I remember playing this game and trying to get all the crystal so you can unlock the secret boss at the end of the game or smth like that, and I remember being so fking frustated when I reached the end of a lvl and I didn't get all the gems
Wow! One Hit Overkill The Boss!!! 45:57
I love how they dedicated a whole island to darius. Thats pretty cool
Darius was big banger for Taito back in the 80s, heh~
SO unique in constrast to all the islands. Of course, Darius had a dark, robotic sci-fi feel to it with the space setting with the fighters and all. compared to Bubble Bobble
I don't understand last message "did you get a high score more than 9999990 pts? Let's collect 7 little diamonds in the last world! If you collect them in order you will find the secret door in the boss room". Now you have 69M score...if you play again without reset the game, will you find a new secret room?
I played this game but I prefer NES version. Music so cool like dream when we play in rainbow
This game used to boil my piss and still does
What on earth does that mean?

これ藤沢市に昔あったユニー長後店の最上階のゲームコーナーで7歳くらいの頃見た記憶あるけど、結局一回もやらずにハングオンジュニアばっかりやってた。(笑)

Era uno dei miei giochi preferiti 🤩🤩🤩🤩
This game is so colorful, I just wanna vomit! Like the rainbows Bubby tosses out! Makes me wanna eat POP TARTS! Even the soundfont does the same. :3
World 5's secret room having a warp to World 8 is MEAN.
Recalled old memories
Recuerdo este juego en mi niñez y hacia trampa para ganar jalando el bable para desconectar y el personaje de hacia inmortal. 😰

I've re purchased a ds juat so I can play this game again. It's the most stupid, but addictive game. That's the only way to describe it!. Only started playing it yesterday and I'm on the 3rd World
Have you completed it yet?🌈🌈
Hello, fellow boomers.
How do you know how to collect the gems in order? Like how do you know which enemies will have them?
The colour of the gem is based on the location where the enemy's body lands.
For example, landing on the far left creates a red gem, while landing on the far right creates a purple gem. You have to kill enemies so they land in the correct position to give you the correct gem colour, but you also have to collect them in the correct sequence 🙂
Oh that's clever. Thanks! 😄@@AL82RetrogamingLongplays
Do you also have to crush them with the rainbow instead of shoot it at them? It's something I noticed.@@AL82RetrogamingLongplays
Yes - you have to crush them with the rainbows, rather than just shooting them with it 🙂
To make it even trickier, every 3rd enemy you kill this way will always drop a power-up (e.g. red/yellow potion), not a gem - it limits the number of chances available to get all the gems 🙂
Lol cool 😄 Thank you 🙂@@AL82RetrogamingLongplays
The boss on the fourth world looks like a giant spinning Cartman shooting out cartmans
