The Knight of Lodis on the GBA, it’s easily the best one in my opinion. Also The Knight of Lodis is a direct prequel to Let us Cling together
Ive only played Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen. It was fun, but i was young and stupid and after beating the game my descendents overthrew and killed me at the end :-(
@@Fojenstein3D yeah you got the bad ending lol
It's too hard to say. I love the mechanical ocean of TO Remake, love the constant wackiness of MOTBQ, love the unit growth of KoL, the sheer immersion of the original TO, the insanely good story adjustments that OB64, and the sheer ballsiness of whoever thought Prince of Zenobia was ok. It's my favorite series next to Armored Core. No relation, I just love perfect things.
@@Fojenstein3D Baloney I say~! As if those underleveled beings could ever take out your units!
Ogrebattle 64 was awesome, it had so many hidden items, quests, and characters!!!
I'm playing it now for the first time. So good so far
I never got the good ending time for a 50th run lol
Spoilers:

If you get the bad ending, but Magnus is downed by Destin himself, you get a slightly altered neutral ending instead. I did not intend to find this out.
@@silassmith7322 it is hard to get a good ending in the first one but really it is understandable ,most people love to grind level instead of swirve and go around enemy unit ,you have to remember character alignment and to be lower level than the enemy to gain a better alignment which sometimes has to make you do ... weird decision like not pushing with a good unit but a weak one hoping you can lower the boss with 5 group of weak units instead of a few strong ones
Yes, lots of secrets!
It’s hard to even articulate just how amazing the Ogre Battle games were for their time. My friend and I rented the SNES version as a joke cuz we thought the case art looked funny, then we were hooked when we actually tried it.
I remember I fell asleep during a slumber party watching my friend playing SNES Ogre Battle when we were like 13. I’ll never forget waking up in the middle of the night and seeing that he passed out literally holding the controller trying to fight off sleep cuz he wanted to keep playing lmfao… that game was so damn amazing I miss those days.
Thanks for this memory! It really was ahead of its time.
Amazing - you could have been describing me and my friend during our childhood around the same age. Countless nights like this, and we would find creative ways to play all night long, like taking alternating shifts playing and sleeping, or working out and watching while the other played and switching again.
Watching this while playing "Reborn" Let Us Cling Together. It's a marvelous age! After all the tactics games that came out in 2022, the future's looking bright!
True!
Ogre Battle 64 is not only my favorite in the series but a top 5 game of all time for me. I loved it. A shame the series has seen no love.
It truly was a gem on the N64, which didn't have that many in my mind.
Playing through it now. Very addicting and fun!
Doesn't get more underrated than Ogre Battle 64.
What blows my mind is nobody has even tried to recreate it. The only tactics rpg's we get even remotely close are all inspired by Fire Emblem. The rest are FF: Tactics clones. Nobody has done the rts + auto-battler hybrid that is Ogre Battle 64.
@@XygorI want to see your "unicorn overlord" review when it came out 2024 switch ps5
The fact this series has been left by the wayside is a travesty.
Enix owns it. makes sense. they rather milk FF
@@Zafersan and yet they dont milk FF tactics?
Fear not, it's successor should be coming next year if you were not aware
@@necrosim not really
@@goncaloferreira6429uhh... not really what?
I'm a die hard fan of the series and fell in love with it the second I played the March of the Black Queen when I was a kid. I still remember the entire story from all the games to date. In any case, you forgot to talk about the world lore. All of the games are inter-connected, the main character from the original game shows up and becomes a member of Magnus's army. Also Lans Hamilton was Destin Faroda (MC of first game) first ally, that shows up in Tactics Ogre alongside Warren Moon and Canopus, who were both members of Destin's army as well in the first game. And the reason for their appearances in those games are for lore reason, that they are investigating the Lodis Empire, who are responsible for all the wars and demon summonings. The GBA title, is the prequel to the whole series, and it's story is unique in that main character is actually the founder of the Lodis Empire, I find that really freaking cool.
Fair enough, maybe I should have delved deeper into that.
Ogre Battle 64 is still one of my favorite RPG’s of all time. It has inspired me In so many ways and im desperate to see anyone even try and recreate the love and care it had put in it.
The knights of lodis was my first tactics game ever. I remember my mom taking me to KB games and I just picked it up not knowing anything about it. I'm grateful child me had good taste for amazing games.
Still holding out for this… please square let Ogre Battle live again!
Maybe it will, since Tactics Ogre: Reborn did so well!
@@Xygor looks like all we have is the new overlord game
LUCT for PSP is the greatest tactics game of all time. Checks every box for me.
Found this video after watching the Tactics Ogre Reborn Trailer 100 times. As a huge Ivalice fan, I feel there's been a massive FOMO element to having not played any Ogre Battle games. Thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it, and glad Tactics Ogre is getting some love again through that remake!
Tactics Ogre filled many of my summer days as a kid. Will never forget the first time I got the the Kachua option and ... yeah =( I will never forget that feeling.
This was the same for both of us!
Absolutely love Ogre Battle/Tactics.
The best srpgs ever made, i think.
And i believe we are long overdue for another masterpiece.
I think so too!
Especially with the ending of Ogre Battle 64
The Ending of Tactics Ogre : Let us cling together , was a incomplete one.
The story continues..
where is the long overdue to be continued game ?
LET US CLING
I played through Knight of Lodis on very long bus rides during an educational trip around Europe. It's still one of my fondest memories of the trip. Thank you for the kind words about it.
Glad you liked it, that was such a great game. One of the best GBA games by far.
The music may be repetitive because there's a limited selection of them, but tracks such as the one that begins at 5:50 are burnt into my mind as vgm classics.
4:28 battle theme, 0:30, and the choose your card music with Warren at the beginning still sticks with me. Hearing them instantly evokes old memories and feelings. I dont have the friggin time to dedicate to the game nowadays, but still respect the heck out of the thing!
True!
I have been playing TO: Reborn, and Wall of Defense, Santa's Coming and Thunder all made their way into it in full orchestral glory :D
Loved Ogre Battle 64. Thanks for explaining the link between FFT and the Ogre Battle series. Always thought those games were way too similar to be coincidence.
Glad you enjoyed it, I love the history/evolution of RPG series' so glad that part helped.
I love this game. So many secret characters, the 12 stones, trading the stones for crowns, making princesses, Brunhild, Princess + Lich = too OP.
2 Liches and a Princess as leader in the back row, wyvern for high mobility in front. This unit alone can intercept and destroy entire armies. Liberation of towns done by other high ALI units.
@Hi_Nu Ver 0 Zero_Tester
As a long time player of JRPGs, grinding had become 2nd nature to me. Imagine my surprise when grinding too much was actually bad in this game!
So many great games in the series.
Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite game of all time. They need to make a new iteration in the series based on the overworld map system.
I honestly can't blame you for holding it in such high regard.
the original tactics ogre is my favorite video game of all time, but i honestly love the entire series so much, i have physical copies of the original ogre battle limited esition and the knight of lodis, and i am actually currently playing let us cling together on my adroid phone on an emulator. I honestly am not a fan of the psp version, but im glad it exists. Love them all so much. My favorite game series of all time. Matsuno is a creative genius and the entire quest team has blessed us all with their masterful works of art.
I don't blame you, that game is so good. Glad it got remastered finally.
ogre battle was absolutely my favorite Super Nintendo game of all time. sooooo much to that game , still to this date one of the deepest games I've ever played ,so many hidden characters ,so many choices ,such awesome auto combat. This game was something special .
I was nothing short of blown away by the story of Ogre Battle 64. I was about 12 when the game came out in NA, and I'd never seen a game factor in politics. The scene that really hit home for me was when King Procus is confronted by Richard and cows to Lodis rather than asserting Palatinus' autonomy. In any other fantasy setting, the king holds absolute power, but in OB64, the king is so easily intimidated into submission and not even by another king but a knight who is just a glorified hatchet man. That amazed me at the time.
It was such a unique game for being so dark on the N64. Thank you for your memories of it!
I don't remember much of Tactics Ogre today, but I have some hella nostalgia for it. I was a big FF fan but somehow I ended up with TO instead of FFT. I remember my friends and I taking turns doing battles and leveling up characters together. Fun times.
Man, I poured God knows how many hours into The Knight of Lodis just trying to unlock certain classes
Ogre Battle was an amazing game. Tactics Ogre was a complete change yet I still loved the game. I still think the original game was the best however.
Also fun factoid, they were not only Queen fans but fans of Robert E. Howard and specifically his character of Conan. The first game takes place in Zenobia who Conan marries and makes his queen (Hour of the Dragon). The second game Tactics Ogre takes place in Valeria another major love interest of Conan (Red Nails). As the Queen references stopped after the first two games so did the Robert E. Howard references sadly.
Yes it was!
OgreBattle 64 is one of my all time favorites, Ive beaten that game at least 3-4 times and each times like 40-70 hours, very very few games hold my attention like that
Defintely a top 3 game on the N64.
Played Tactics Ogre LUCT during a very difficult time of my life. Its one those games that I can go back to and still feel the magic of experiencing a great game for the first time.
Small addition: There was a 5th game in the Ogre Battle series released Japan only on the Wonderswan Color which followed Prince Tristam prior to meeting him in the 1st Ogre Battle game. I'm not sure if it had an English Patch (I played using map translations back in the day), but it was also in the series as a Gaiden/Side-Story game. It played very similarly to March of the Black Queen.
I was on Neo Geo Pocket Colour
Thank you for this info.
The many hours I ran with Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen on an emulator. That game for me, timeless. I always remember my first playthrough coming in blind then finding out several missions later that there were chances I can recruit characters.
How do I go about playing this on an emulator? I've heard of it but have no clue how to go about downloading it and finding this game.
There was so much replayability with it, wasn't there?
@@willalvarez6773 you can either play the Snes version or the psp version. I'd still argue that the Snes version is still the best.
@@Xygor absolutely. There were a lot of surprises that the game gives off.
@@nevanV12 I played both SNES and PS1 versions. I did enjoy the PS1 version more. I'm currently trying to find a store on whatnot that actually has a sealed version of it. I did own the game years ago but no clue what happened to it. They should have added this game to the PS1 retro. I'm still searching.
Ogre Battle 64 was my introduction into it, as a tiny babby. Despite being so young, I still found myself enjoying it. ...I also remember setting my birthday early and save-scumming for a particular sword which gave a massive performance boost to whoever had it (it was just a generic sword, but higher tier than you could otherwise get this early). Never beat it though.
Thank you for your memories of the series!
I only played Ogre Battle 64, and absolutely loved it. It's one of the only cartridges that I still possess.
Wasn't it amazing?
The first one was my favourite. I remember making the leader hit three times and then the other teams just destroyed the other army while the leader beat the boss. Worked til the last stage when enemies kept re spawning…
Still remember the “LIBERATION” and “FIGHT IT OUT” voice lines.
Check unicorn overlord game it made by Atlus too for switch and ps5 it has those fireworks on top of city if won by liberation 😂
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together on the PSP. My only gripe with that game was the weapons crafting system. Other than that, best story and best soundtrack.
Agreed. The definitive edition (outside of that complicated, super-tweaked modded PC version).
I honestly could not stand that version other than the storyline skipping around option. It got rid of what made ogrebattle unique for the sake of trying to encourage online vs. play.
@@KCUFyoufordoxingme What did it get rid of? It’s been too long.
When I was about 14 I saw Ogre Battle 64 in a gaming magazine and immediately became obsessed with it. My birthday was coming up and I begged my parents for it. My mom asked someone at our local game store if they had it and he responded by laughing and saying "Good luck finding that game."
My mom asked if I wanted something else and I asked for, and received, a replacement. Then about a week after my birthday my mom came into my room with a copy of the game and let me know she had never stopped looking for it. She drove an hour and a half away to find it. It will always hold me special place in my heart for that reason alone, but on top of that it ended up being one of the best games I've ever played. I've been a huge fan of the series since then, I would drop anything on a re-release or sequel of any of these games.
Thanks for these memories!
Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite game of all time. I'm pretty sure I spent more than 350 hours in the game. Choosing different strategies, different paths, different characters, different classes in each campaign. Even like 20 years after the game was released, I discovered new characters lines and cutscenes that I never got when I played the game when I read the forums on Gamefaqs.
It's an amazing game. It's a shame that the franchise was dead for many decades. But now when Squarenix announced Tactics Ogre Reborn, I became excited again. My hope they someday bring a new Ogre Battle game to the Switch after the success of the Fire Emblem franchise.
Unicorn Overlord is what you seek it made by Atlus and Vanilaware it released in 2024 march, check it out the trailer, also the cover looks like ogre battle cover
Ogre Battle was amazing. Wish it would come back
I remember renting Ogre Battle 64 as a kid, and it went wayyyyyy over my head. Wish I'd known how badly they needed the sales, and how I was sitting on a gem, I might have tried to get my folks to pick it up.
Maybe you can appreciate it more now then!
Ogre Battle is by far my favorite game on the Nintendo 64...I pray for a remake on modern consoles since that day...
Maybe it will be, given Reborn is getting so much hype!
The original ogre battle on SNES is what got me into strategy RPGs.
I was also amazed when you were able to recruit Deneb or Debonair, cuz there are few games I know of where you can recruit the boss you just fought
It was definitely a great entry point, a first for many people getting into the genre back then.
Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite 64 game as well!!! I always loved the class system even when characters die you can upgrade and level people (Angel knights!!!) plus the special items and characters/classes that you get based off of the chaos frame system made this game so fun, with so much to aim for each playthrough. I always hope for some kind of news that a new one based off of the ogre battle 64 system will come out. There has not been anything like it since.
Thank you for your memories of it!
I've been saying for ages ogre battle 64 is the best rpg on the Nintendo 64. Also my favorite tactics games
I agree with you!
Ogre Battle 64 is my favorite game of all time. Thanks for the video
Glad you liked it!
I remember playing Ogre Battle 64 so much and the story has always stuck with me. I would even say, I'm a different person today because I played Ogre Battle 64. It is definitely not a game everyone gets or enjoys, but the fans of it always rate it in their top games of all time.
Yeah, I really wish that one got more exposure!
Easily a top ten game of all time for me. I totally agree and have the exact same experience with it. Totally changed my life.
I love the Ogre Battle series, great video!
Ogre Battle 64 is also one of my favorite games for the N64. As far the graphics go I always thought the sprites looked like claymation a little and I liked it. I think that's the "blurry" and "laggy" effect you mentioned. I always found it oddly appealing.
Same. I just accepted it as graphics limitations at the time, and the dialogue pop-ups have cleaner images. Even now I still like how that game looks.
Thanks man, sorry it took so long to respond. Love chatting with you in the discord!
The thing I miss most from the first game is just how BIG the maps were. There was so much to explore. Neither of the other two games replicated that. Even Ogre Battle 64 had smaller maps. Give me big complicated maps full of stuff. That's why even after almost 30 years I keep coming back to the first one over and over again. I still haven't found everything.
True, for the SNES they really were huge.
Same! The huge maps, the amazing artwork, the masterful music, and the amazing army management, unit management, and character management, then the strategy and tactical aspects... there is so much to like and enjoy (over and over again) about the original Ogre Battle. The rest of the series is great too, but to me, it is in large part because they pay homage to the first one.
Great video on a series that absolutely does not get enough coverage!
I really need to give Knights of Lodis a try, but thankfully several of these games have been rereleased digitally! Ogre Battle 64 is available on the Wii U eShop for a mere $10, and the PSP version of Let Us Cling Together is available for the same price for PSP and Vita!
Thank you, glad you liked the video!
I remember being introduced to the series in the 2000s on an emulator. I fell in love with March of the Black queen and I eventually bought it on ps1, to play on my ps3. Cost me $100. I still have it.
I think you made a good investment!
Literally my favorite series ever.
Gameplay to story its, incredible and underrated
Definitely one of the best Strategy RPG series ever.
Ogre battle is a majestic game that deserves more love than what it got
Totally true.
I remember knight of lodis being my most favorite tactics game and one of the first that made me enjoy the genre. I've been on a huge tactics kick again lately after triangle strategy and am sad to see they just never did more tactics ogre games.
Top 3 GBA game for sure!
tKoL was my first tactics genre game, instantly loved it despite the fact of not being able to travel/explore deeply (i was used to FF and DQ games back in the mid 2000s) then i played LUCT for PSP and i found the glory.
The soundtrack, the artwork, the plot and the lore, everything from LUCT is sublime and once i found out about the best ending of tKoL it was like OMG
I'd definetly love a tKoL remake ala PSP LUCT
Tons of great aspects. Thanks for these memories!
I played 64 and loved it. I think it may be the only tactics type game I ever played. The initual draw was the art style, I loved it. Then the story got me. I still have fond memories of it.
It really was a unique classic on the N64!
Thx for doing this vid. I grew up on Ogre Battle 64 with it being one of my fave games, and I'm revitalized now in pursuing playing the rest. I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics right now for the first time and loving it, so I know these games are gonna be my jam. 🍻
Glad you liked the video, thanks for your memories of the series!
I adore this series. Ogre Battle LE on the PS1 was the first game I bought with my own money, and I've loved them all since. Great retrospective.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! The series is so great and deserves more praise.
So cool! I was just looking for a summery vid of this series this week. It was definitely lacking out there. Thank you so much for making this
Glad you liked it!
Tactics Ogre the Knight of Lodis is *the* game that got me into rpgs. Since I never got to play anything prior to Gameboy Advance games I never really got the opportunity to play all the rest of ogre battle games. Eventually I moved on but TOTKOL left such an amazing impression on me that every once in a while I go back and play the game over and over again. I was really hoping they would make a new or continuation of tactics ogre in ds or 3ds but I guess they took their time and we finally have reborn. I havent played it yet but ik what I will be playing soon. Thank you for the video! It really reminded me of the beauty of this series!
Excellent, Knight of Lodis is underrated!
@@Xygor I feel like calling it and all of the franchise underrated is just an understatement. These games are way too amazing (especially since I play games *for* the story) and I dont find anyone who played these games. I cannot stress enough how much this video filled my heart with joy! Thanks again for this video!
I remember this game. It's a gem. I remember getting lucky on the 2nd stage and found an item that allowed an Amazon to turn into the Princess class. This was quite early in the game, so this class was extremely powerful because it gave an extra attack to all units in that group. The Princess' back row attack was also great to have early game because no other class at this level, except your spellcaster main, have powerful AOE spells. This group became one of my best once I added Liches among the ranks. The party was nearly unstoppable.
Right, such a good game! Thanks for leaving your memories here.
This series and Breath of Fire series deserves a remake, hope they happen someday.
Ahh Ogre Battle the seed that sprout the best strategy games. Yasumi should be more recognized.
It really did, one of the trailblazers in the genre.
Ogre battle 64 is my favourite. There was so much to do and unlock. There was that story, which really made it pop and the most of the characters are memorable. And the twist in the middle caught me by surprise. I was a teen at the time but I though that was so cool.
It really was a great game on N64, which didn't have that many in my opinon.
Ogre Battle 64. The storyline was mature, with divergence for replayability.
The relationship between the brothers Sir Richard Glendale and Sir Baldwin Glendale was complicated and fascinating. Richard, the leader of the Calignus Order (Knights Templar, effectively) treated his younger brother Baldwin harshly, yet deeply loved him. Richard Glendale was the patriarch of a powerful political family of warriors in the Holy Lodis Empire. Their family had been humiliated by their Pope/Emperor, and wanted to attain greater mythical power in Palatinus to overthrow Lodis and gain vengeance for their father's mistreatment and death. In fact, Richard wanted Baldwin to attain the "ultimate power" they search for the entire game. This directly contradicts Richard's harsh and callous treatment of his younger brother (this includes telling Baldwin the only reason he is alive after his failures against the protagonist, is because of his lineage). The character development is brilliant, complicated, and full of realistic characters you empathize with.
In addition, the political dynamics were well thought out. The Holy Lodis Empire was effectively running Palatinus as a client state, making the protagonists revolution against not just Palatinus, but the Holy Lodis Empire.
The inclusion of characters from previous titles made the game incredibly fun. Destin Faroda, Quass Deboair, you find yourself doing whatever it takes to attain them in your army.
Thank you for posting this, Ogre Battle is an incredible series, with the 64 version being a true piece of art in graphics, game play, soundtack and story.
Appreciate your take!
I appreciated the fact that I had spent a major part of my gaming childhood playing Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Warsong for the Genesis. Had a great time with these titles when I had all the time in the world compared to now. ⚔️
Glad that is true for both of us!
The game managed to keep rpg elements to where i know where everyone is on such a grand scale.64 is my fav. just included so many classes. loved how the weapons changed and there was a tool tip for everything. everything press select its ok not to memorize what vitality is.just so many little things make this so it will always be my favorite game series.
Thank you for this adventure into the world of masterpieces!
Thank you for watching it!
Amazing analysis as always! The Ogre Battle series are my all time favorite games and most of the reason I made my channel was to show it and make it better known (currently in the middle of the gameplay of it). I absolutely love and look up to your channel.
Glad to hear it!
A phenomenal series that deserves way more love.
So true, maybe it will get it with Tactics Ogre: Reborn getting some love.
MotBQ is one of my favorite games of all time. Thank you for making this video. I wish the subgenre would make a comeback.
It's hard to have any issue with it being considered one of the best! Glad you liked it.
I grew up poor in a small rural town. We didn’t have a block buster, but the local grocery store stocked a few movies and even fewer games. Ogre Battle Person of Lordly Caliber was one. I rented it because that’s all they had, and it changed the way I thought about games. I was completely addicted! I loved the deep storytelling and the decision making! I will never forget staying up past my bed time and stuffing t shirts under my door so no one would see the light coming from my tv screen and know I was still playing it! I wish they would continue the series. It is right up there with Ocarina of Time in my book. Best two 64 games out there.
I remember being a kid playing tactics ogre and thinking "wow this is definitely a grown ups game!" The atmosphere of the story really got me.
Yes, and a dark and sinister story!
I play the heck out of Ogre battle it’s one of my favorite games. Even though it’s SNES it still holds up today
I have played this game so many times back on the SNES I even play it now on an emulator. It's just such a classic and a solid masterpiece.
I agree that it does!
I rented the snes version back in the 90's over and over, never actually bought it until later in life. Ogre Battle 64 blew me away 15 years later in college.
The SNES version was so good!
Bro, like seriously...why do you only have about 50k subs? This is an amazing perspective on a very underrated series. Good stuff!
Thank you so much, working on growing!
Favorite series ever! Can't wait to see this video! And my favorite game in the series is ogrebattle 64.
My favorite series, thanks for covering it
No problem, glad you liked it!
Ogre Battle is one of my fave series and LUCT on PSP is in my Top 5 games of all time. The only game missing from this video is the forgotten NGPC game. I hope a fan translation becomes available one day of that forgotten handheld edition. Nice work and glad to see someone make a video about this neglected series.
I remember i got Ogre Battle as a gift from my mom when I was young. She got it with a strategy guide written by an honest to god former Army Colonel who professed that his military expertise was valid in writing the strategy guide for this game and as a kid that just blew me away. The guide was actually really good, but the game was simply beyond me as a kid. Years later I finally managed to beat the game on an emulator on PC. Such a wonderful game. I always loved that secret level you could access by entering your name a certain way and it would start you off with super advanced units on a one shot map.
Thanks for this memory! What a cool story about the writer of the guide.
Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen changed the game. It was very rare to find in North America and even more rare to find the official strategy guide.
It really did, a totally standout game when there was really nothing else like it.
best series of all time with Shining Force
Both were fantastic SRPGs!
Great series - i have them all in original carts that i started collecting recently. I had such good memories from these games growing up that i had to get them again.
It's a great series to collect, some rarities there!
Great retrospective, informative and well edited.
Thank you!
The gba game was my childhood and is why I love these sorts of games
Great, it was one of the best GBA games ever!
@@Xygor it was it's funny that I bought it for my dad but it ended up as mine
This might be my favourite game of all time! I remember finding it as a kid in '95 at the local 7-11. Then I read about it in the Nintendo Power edition that same year. OBSESSED. I still play it every year.
You bought the game at 7-11???
@@ZYYXYZY At the time I rented it... every weekend! I later bought a copy.
@@adamorly2971 I didn't know 7-11 rented games. Interesting
That sounds like an amazing find!
I wish like with some RPGs being released nowadays, the Tactical RPGs did the same. These games took up A LOT of my video game time growing up. Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, FF Tactics, Ogre Battle 64, & more. Such great stories & simple yet intuitive gameplay.
Ogre Battle is my favorite of the strat/rpg genre. Also heavily influenced my world building.
I can't blame you for this opinion!
Ogre battle was one of my first experiences on snes besides ff6 and 7th saga and breath of fire growing up. All amazing games I keep going back to.
Lots of great nostalgic memories from that time for me too.
I adore and miss this series very much! It needs to be brought back!
Hopefully it will since Tactics Ogre: Reborn has hype now!
The Ogre Battle 64 gameplay that is shown in this video is indeed laggy. Having played the game many times, it's not supposed to be slow like that. Great video by the way. Ogre Battle is a series that should have never died. It was amazing!
We seriously need a new Ogre Battle game. Square Enix is never going to do it, though
Maybe someday!
Since they've begun releasing older titles to mobile and in particular to Steam I keep hoping the PSP Tactics Ogre ends up on Steam at some point. I doubt it will but... it would be great if it did!
Fun Fact: Much of the Tactics Ogre dev team would go on to work on FFT Advance
@@TiamatZer0 I did know that! Shame FFTA wasn't nearly as good as T.O. is.
@@TiamatZer0 I know, but tactics ogre isn't a real ogre battle game
Ogrebattle on the snes was mind blowing.
I think I've played it once a year since I discovered it as a kid.
The n64 ogre battle I got 2 copies of. One to play, and one for my shelf. It's still the only game that I spent money on to never play.
It really was, still holds up so well!
I remember the day I brought home Tactics Ogre: The knights of Lodis. That game was AMAZING !
It was definitely one of the best GBA games.
We demand another Tactics Ogre game NOW!!!
Maybe we will get one now that Tactics Ogre: Reborn got so much love.
I love that Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen is a double tribute to my favorite Queen album.
Yes it is!
You funkin rule dude I can't believe you took this on . I am a tactics ogre PS1 guy myself. Anyway, you are amazing
Haha, thank you!
It's nice to see someone out there that remembers these games. While I hold no hope that Ogre series will ever return, it was a great, glorious series for its time, and incredibly impactful especially on the tactics side, where most Japanese tactics games have copied the systems of Tactics Ogre to one degree or another since its release.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed them! I actually think it's possible it may be resurrected because Tactics Ogre: Reborn did so well.
Recently grabbed Tactics Ogre for the PSP via PSVITA. Super excited to get into it.
Did you play Reborn yet?
Great retrospective; I wish we could still get new games in this franchise
Great job with the video, it was a really nice trip down memory lane. I've been on a Tactics Ogre binge ever since I heard the news about the PS5 remake. Nothing else on the console interests me, but I'll still be getting both the system and the game - if only in the hopes that the remake will herald more Ogre games to come.
This is my favorite series ever, and though games like Triangle Strategy and Symphony of War help to scratch that itch, nothing could ever quite compare to masterworks like Ogre & FFT.
Thank you for the compliment on the video! I appreciate your memories. It truly was a great series, as you say.
“Ninjas and knights” that’s basically easy mode on Final Fantasy Tactics as well. Must include Orlandeau’s base class though, he’s OP OP. I love Agrias Oaks as well, amazing character.
My faves were Person of Lordly Caliber and The knight of Lodis growing up. Two games that really defined my ideal gaming experience for rpgs and strategy games. Dark, gritty stories, tough combat, beautiful sprites and backgrounds, character customization, even that weird biorhythm stuff that secretly influences your fighting ability. My question to you is... do you press B to guard in these games like I do? I swear it works for Magnus
When it comes to the best in the series, there's really no wrong answer! You're totally right about the dark, gritty stories.
Tactics ogre KoL had the fanstastic emblem system that was unique at that moment ,i hope they made more ogre series games
