The match was way more than that. An italian journalist had just stated on italian media that chile was a country of ignorants and prostitutes. At the time, chile was coming out of 1960 Valdivia Earthquake, and even after devastation they chose not to give up to argentina hosting the world cup. The country was at a special moment, lots of efforts took place to make the world cup possible, and chilean took very seriously what the italian media said. The italian realized chilean people were angry and arrived at the match with flowers, but chilean returned them back. Then, the match started...
Interesting, didn't know about that
If I'm not wrong, Chile would've won that world Cup if it weren't for Brazil. History is history.
Yes is the best Chile in history of world cup in position final is 2nd but chile was 3rd
Chile scored their 2 goals against Italy when Italy were down to 9 men. At least 2 Chileans should have been sent off for their part in the pitch fighting and maybe the result would have been very different and Chile wouldn't even have gotten out of the group stage.
@@nicky29031977 pero si chile gano los otros partidos claro q habria pasado la fase de grupos
@@nicky29031977 Italian got punched in the face and the Chilean was not sent off.
@@tml184 The Italian players claimed the Chileans were spitting in their faces from the start so provoking the violence.
*Chile vs Italy 2-0 (1962)*
1-0 Jaime Ramírez (73 min)
2-0 Jorge Toro (87 min)
you get mad when someone start to say stupid and nasty things about your country, also, lots of players that were playing for Italy, also played for argentina before, so chilean players thought that was unfair
'By reason or by force.'
@Renato Vargas The Chileans were reasonable but the Italians used force. Lots of dirty play and brutal tackles.
One of the best matches ever played in football history.
but the violence? that isn't sport imho.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 Because of that was one of the best 😂😂😂😂
@@MrChileno13 To me, it's like cheating. Using violence to win. IMHO

This was a "Kung Fu" session. And Chile won.
And how many world cups Chile won? Italy 4 , chile how many?

Linda chilena.
I met Ken Aston in my shop, he was great, we spoke about football for an hour. He had some great stories. He was probably one of the most interesting people I met. I feel honoured to have met him.
Guys like Ken Aston and Adi Dassler changed the sport forever.
AGUANTE 🇨🇱
In Mexico 1970 there was a battle like this, Israel vs Sweden, but in that game there were nor sent out players. There were already red cards, but only the yellow ones showed up. Incredibly there was a violent game in the 21th Century very much alike to the ones of the 1960s, that was Holand vs Portugal in 2006 WC. And in the Final of WC 2010, there was a kung-fu kick early in the game Spain-Holland that could have ignited a battle, a battle in a WC Final!
VAMOS CHILE 🇨🇱

Italy beat Chile 2-0, 4 years later to get their revenge.
We actually were born in the right generation
Not really
80s was the best period for football
Talents +, technical ability and far more competitive
And 60s had great music and films though

The referee got so mad at that game that he made a new system who was the yellow and red cards, who FIFA accepted, but used a bit of time to accuntly impediment
The most brutal match of all times
