I knew somewhere in the internet world that there were cameras on loons... and how sad it must be to watch and maybe one day one parent or baby loon not showing up after getting snatched. Hello Susan Mom loon does have a mate and he shares incubation duties during the day. I do not know about Mom Duck. However, the female ducks raise their ducklings alone.

Hello Libra lady Mom has been leaving the egg alone for over 7 hours a night sometimes longer. I don't know if it will hatch - they do incubate during the day very well. We will have to wait and see!! I hope it does ♥

Is it too long to leave the egg unattended? My first time seeing loons. They are so awkward on land.
Yes she has been leaving the egg unattended all night long. I am not sure if the egg will hatch - they do incubate it during the day.
