Something like this happened to the eagle nest in Minnesota. One of the eggs slipped down into a crevice in the nest, and one of the parents was trying to maneuver it out when it broke.

Poor, sweet pair. I was so hoping that their second egg would have a chance at hatching a healthy chick. 💔💔 Now, I'm hoping that they will try again in a future season, after the female has reconditioned through good foraging and hopefully replenished her nutrient levels to produce strong, viable eggs with this male with whom she seems to be bonded. Fingers-crossed for their future successes. (Lady Hawk, I am new to this species breeding process, although there were times when I would listen to their calls and sometimes see them on a lake up in Northern California, where there were many of them at the time. I love their beautiful calls and enjoyed watching them whenever they were within in-person viewing.) 🤞🤞✨✨💖💖🌈🌈✨✨
