I'm subscribed now, this is fantastic info. I've got my own little local scanning biz. I scan in moldy tapes all the time, lol. I have had maybe a dozen and a half gigs. The largest one being 77 film reels, and another was 54 vhs tapes. I give them unlisted UA-cam Playlist so they can watch the progress, and then a usb stick. I still need to spread my ads around the town. I'm glad you hear about your personalization, bc I'm the same!! I end up learning their family's and seeing all their milestones. So then I'm texting them to say "go check out the Playlist, i just put 3 more up!" And also I tell them when I'm experiencing issues.
i have tapes that need a Time Base Corrector, and sharpened, so they aren't so blurry. I had a few almost 40 year old video tapes digitized here in Las Vegas. The results could be better at $30 per tape. Are there any places out there that go the extra mile in digitizing family memories on VHS? It seems that these places that do the digitizing are using a $9 Easy Cap device that they bought off Ebay, and freeware OBS Studio editing software. I need sophisticated equipment, like JVC S-VHS VCR's with a TBC, and excellent editing software.
Lots can be done, just depends on your budget. If you’re looking around for top end work like you’re mentioning, be prepared to pay someone $500 per finished hour of footage.
@gotmemories thanks for your reply, I only have 2 tapes though, I'll see if there's anything else I can dig up, thanks again! Have a great day. And loved your video, I will subscribe 😃
@@gotmemories sounds like you could do with hiring one really good employee who can just pick up the slack and keep the few odd plates spinning that you miss.
@@97SEMTEXhaha! Yes I could do with some solid help but I’ve had as many as 5 full time staff at any given time many years back and since I divorced myself from the chains of payroll every two weeks and all the drama anx associated with staff, I don’t mind the workload 😂
I want to work for / with you. I've always been a stickler for quality over quantity. I have a JVC SVHS machine that I keep in a plastic bag, just for doing transfers for friends. My Sharp HI-8 camcorder stripped a gear, so it doesn't work anymore :(
7:35 -7:37 You said the name of both my parents right next to each other...which kind of freaked me out....Plus my mother's name is also Mother Nature of Jesus's name... which would be Mary..
What is the strangest format a customer asked you about? And what is the most common format? And, how many normal peope have 3/4" UMatic? Any Beta people?
I get a decent amount of Umatic. Very little Betamax. I hate the format. So glitchy and almost always has 4hrs on a tape. Sometimes people have 2” video tape from 1950’s.

Fantastic to hear! Let me know your business name and location! I refer people in the local areas to passionate, high quality transfer businesses!
This is a great exposing the hypocrisy of the big BOX companies video. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!

@@gotmemories So you would charge that?
All depends. Not something I advertise but you might from some AV houses around the country that cater to production companies that will.
@@wright96d hi. what is vhs-decode?
@@wright96d hi. so what is the advantage of this?
Hey I went to your site and don't meet the criteria for your minimum (2 mini DV tapes) who would you recommend for just 2 tapes?
Try Memory Lane Media in PA.
They do great work & have a $200 min.

How can you find enough hours in the day to do a complete job and run your business?
Honestly, tell me about it! I don’t know.

I just paid more than that for untracked, poor quality, poor sound digital copies. No tracking. Unbelievable
