My dad used to LOVE these films, I started watching them to spent time with him (he was dying of lung cancer). At first it was just to be with him somehow, but after sometime I understood the good vibes and simple sweet naiveness he got out of them.
Im sorry I just don't see the cringe here, well let me rephrase... I can see the cringe, but my dad tought me to see past it.
I really enjoyed these movies, and I thank their existance, they gave my dad alot of laughs and smilles, thats all I can ask for (and more)
I think that's the thing about the movies. They have cringe... but they are so charming and endearing in how genuine they are with it you can't help but look at it like "Oh you little scamps." unlike say a TV network just using a meme for the sake of this.

Dude, Johnny my be a little obnoxious at times and trying too hard to be wacky, but that comparison is completely unjustified.
Johnny is a bit overly quirky but he's a decent person and means well.
The Paul brothers are garbage excuses for human beings who exploit dead bodies for attention among a large number of other things like manipulating their audience of toddlers, they have zero redeeming qualities and are all around trash.
Johnny may not be an amazing character but he still deserves far better than what you're doing to him.

The worst part about Hotel Transylvania is that they had a bunch of concept arts for Dracula that legitimately looked really good, but decided to use the one that looks like Adam Sandler instead.

I find hard to believe these movies were directed by the same guy who made Samurai Jack and Dexter's Lab, not so much for the technical aspect but on how the whole thing doesn't come together
Especially the endings! So let me get this straight...Dracula...the Prince of Frigging Darkness, is allowed to have a wife TWICE, while a good hearted, selfless, caring, brave warrior who everyone loves isn;t allowed to?! DID I MISS SOMETHING?!
i have always ALWAYS hated dance/pop musical sequences in animated movies. the cringe is 100 every time and breaks immersion.
It's really cringe in generic kids movies. Take Trolls for example. When they were singing 'Move Your Feet' at the beginning, Poppy HAD to include some trash rap sequence and completely ruin the song. Even when movies make original songs, they are just super cliche and makes me feel like the main character is trying TOO hard to be a main character. I really think Disney is the only movie studio that knows how to pull it off.
That's why I love pixar. Because they NEVER do that. They might use licensed music in a trailer but that's about it. Probably the least cringe animation studio ever.
Fun fact that nobody know and don't care: In the italian dub of the sequel, Vlad is voiced by Paolo Villaggio, who was one of the greatest italian actors ever. He made us laugh when he played Fantozzi. He didn't return in the second sequel, because he sadly passed away from complications of his diabetes the same year the third movie came out.
That's sad.

*Long story short:* Hotel Transylvania is a _fantastic_ trilogy from the _animation standpoint,_ as they perfectly captured the essence of Genndy Tartakovsky's signature style. However, it is an _awful_ trilogy because of all the cringe "jokes" and gags. Even for a kids' animated movie it is cringey, relying on stuff we've been seeing since the "3D Talking Animal" films boom from the early 2000's.
@kristian rikardsen The difference is that Gravity Falls does that sporadically and it doesn't take away the focus of the episode's plot. But yes, Soos is a useless character and most of his gags are unfunny.

I think it would've been more interesting if Jonathan were still an awkward dork, but extremely knowledgeable of human-atrocities. He's seen what truly makes some monstrous, which is why he doesn't fear the hotel-guests and uses his affability as a coping-mechanism.
Like, imagine that scene where he has to scare the rat. Instead of trying those "in-your-face" scares, he acts out a scene from Silence of the Lambs or something

I cannot describe the dread I felt when I saw that they were all going on a tall-ass cruise ship, and how much more dread I felt when I saw that Dracula fell in love with the cocaine addicted cruise director from The Love Boat.
Jonathan and Mavis's family dynamic is one of best things the franchise had going for it, it's a crime the show wasn't about them learning how to be parents to Dennis.

i love of with films like Hotel Transylvania and Into the Spider-verse, Cgi is definitely going for more of stylistic 2d feel to it , which honestly conveys to me that the art of traditional animation in theaters isn't completely dead .

@@averyjenson the new movie is called Sponge on the Run (fun fact: It was originally named It's a a Wonderful Sponge for a long time and some merchandise has the original style guides, similar to the Sonic movie) and it has a similar style to Spider-Verse, Hotel Transylvania, and the Peanuts. The beginning of Sponge Out of Water had slick 2D animation that even puts the 1st film to shame.

I'll never understand why some people hate the Hotel Transylvania movies. They're not on the same level as the movies made by Pixar, but they're still enjoyable (depending on which is your favorite). At least they're not the Ice Age movies.

It's genuinely disturbing how much work people put into animation... Like a human being should not be allowed to sit for hours on end hunched over a tablet, their entire world revolving around this one animation in this one show that could be easily forgotten or even hated by the public. I mean they spend YEARS on these movies.
I think I would know because I love to draw but my OCD can sometimes chain me to my tablet for hours on end, my brain not letting me leave. It's absolutely horrible and the thought of doing that as a job makes me feel sick and trapped

The third movie absolutely disgusts and infuriates me. I remember watching it and being repulsed by the overly exaggerated animations and expressions. I felt like I just watched these characters lose their brain cells and all just become way too much.
I also hayed how Dracula zinged in the third movie, even though in the first movie it was repeatedly said that you can only zing once??? The only part of this movie that I liked was seeing the Wolfman get a break.

HT1: Has its cringe moments (like the ending dance scene and overuse of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It”), but credit where credit is due, it does have a heartwarming backstory.

Yea this is definitely not the greatest animated trilogy of time but I feel the steps they took to develop truly groundbreaking animation was so important for the art form. I'm not sure if Spider-verse would have been as experimental if not for these movies.
I wonder what Genndy's reaction to Spiderverse is. Genndy has had three successful movies and has to deal with a bunch of bullshit restrictions and stupid dance scenes, meanwhile Spiderverse is an example of a perfectly executed vision that's as flawless as can be.
