Great to see the original scene. I think it was too brutal and depressing to kill Evan as well. The screenplay is even worse, with Travers bursting into laughter watching Evan try and fail to control his parachute, ripped apart by bullets, as he descends to his death. Renny Harlin loves killing innocent characters to make us hate the bad guys (see Die Hard 2) but you have to wonder if seeing two teenagers and a loveable old man machine gunned for no reason is really popcorn entertainment 😬
It was sad yeah but as you said it made you hate bad guys even more and when they got there come upance at the end it was so satisfying to watch, such a great movie, casted perfectly
@@jpayne3616 Yeah it’s a fun action movie, which is why the excessive machine-gunning of cutesy characters feels offbeat, and makes the happy quips at the end seem out of place. My issue is a tonal one, not an issue with movie violence per se.
They didn't die though, Frank told Gabe on the radio in the cave that he found them both severely injured and took them to the nearest hospital where they are both recovering
Actually Brett died. Frank only told Gabe on the radio that he found Evan in the east valley and that he rushed him to the hospital in critical condition. Brett was clearly killed by Kynette after getting bullets wielded into his back. ~Dutch
@John Yonaz Indeed. The director, Renny Harlin, appeared to relish gratuitous violence. If you recall, Harlin also filmed a scene in Die Hard 2 where a meek elderly janitor crashes into a row of church pews after receiving a bullet to the back of the head. Of course, the brutality makes me detest the villains even more - which is likely the director's aim.
Eric Qauland, Simon Phoenix, Hans Gruber, Neil McCauley, Bhodi, Mr. Blonde, why do we love these characters so much😂 Anybody seen Richie? Anybody know why Richie did Bobby Lupo?
Thanks I found his name online but nothing else no pictures no bio Nothing apart from cliffhanger it's like he's a ghost after this film. Thanks anyway😁
Makes much less sense. First off the distance he puts between them is pretty big and in no way would the gun be accurate enough to hit him from that distance (unless with crazy luck). A full automatic weapon isn't meant to be accurate, especially not when shooting great distances. You're talking about almost 1000ft distance here according to my estimates. Even half that would be BS for that weapon to hit him.
What actually happens to evan in this movie? I know frank ginds him in that tree but after that we dont see him again. Even when frank is killed not mentioned or seen anywhere
Lol, what is this BS? My old VHS tape has this exact scene complete as well the recent blu ray I have and I also remember this scene as complete when I saw it in theaters in 1993. This is NOT an extended delete scene, the scene was in full in the movie, you probably just saw some censored version and thought the normal version was some kind of "extended scene".
I’m glad they cut this miserable scene shorter and let the second jumper survive
Great video quality. I was almost able to determine 10% of what happened.
Ha Ha! Well, maybe you can provide us with some better quality video? No? Thought so, because this is already ultra rare stuff...
But yet, you still watched, proving what a mook you are.
“Kill a few people, you’re a murderer. Kill a million, and you’re a conqueror... Go figure.”
Such an underrated line IMHO
It's not from this movie originally. Jean Rostand, Thoughts of a Biologist (1939)
John Lithgow and Rex Linn were the highlights of this movie! They were a couple of the baddest movie villains that I have ever seen before.🙎🏻🙎🏻🏆🏆✨
I really wish this got an extended or director’s cut much like RoboCop did with its original scenes that were cut down to get an R-Rating.

The music at 2:50 was exactly from the Pawnee attack in Dances With Wolves.
exactly
The parachute has Finlands flag in it. The director Renny Harlins home country! 🇫🇮✨

I am glad they’ve cut out those parts- they are very low quality sequences

The temp score in the workprint is from Dances with Wolves.

Who ? Trey Brownell?
I've noticed that John Lithgow is sarcastic.
Yeah I've always liked the quality of the potato but personally I think I'll stick with the elgato
makes much more sense now
Did you notice at 2:08 that Travers slips? XD

@@flybeep1661 It's an action film not a documentary, why do people like you even watch films if you're going to constantly compare them to reality.
Harland really should have dropped the British accent as soon as he realized Lithgow couldn't hang.
I think it makes his character in the film, to be honest. That extra bit deranged because he's NOT pulling it off, but he doesn't know it.
i said TALK GODDAMMIT!

1:02 I can’t get over how ugly this guy’s outfit is. He belongs in another movie, like fucking Hackers

Gareth legend Day Trey Brownell played Brett who was shot and killed. Max Perlich played Evan who got shot whilst parachuting and lived.

John Lithgow”s worst performance ever.
