The Brakes Broke! How to Convert your VW to a Dual Circuit Master Cylinder

  • Today we swap out the brake master cylinder on our 64 Beetle. The brakes weren’t functioning as they normally do, and we narrowed it down to the master cylinder. This car originally came with a single circuit master cylinder, but for safety reasons we decided to switch to a dual circuit master cylinder while we were dealing with it. The switch is pretty easy, the hardest part is probably rebending the lines (which you’ll see on the next video). If You Enjoyed, be sure to Like,Comment, & Subscribe! Thanks For Watching!

Just bought a 64 baja with no working brakes. Right rear wheel cylinder isn't even connected and the master cylinder is damp at the push rod inside the car. Upgrading to dual circuit because it needs everything anyway so it's the best time.

Good idea! In my own opinion, dual circuit is definitely better, upgrade if you can!

@@straightaxledubs Since it's a baja, I'm putting the reservoir that goes right on top of the MC. Makes it a pain to reach but oh well. Supposedly it works better in bumpy conditions. The car isn't a "restoration" project and it's a hodgepodge of parts. It has a 12V system with an alternator, a 70s style speedometer, and a seemingly newer main harness since I don't see generator voltage regulator delete splices in the harness. Oh and it has cheap universal switches for the ignition and headlights. Plus someone went nuts with truck bed liner inside, the dash is covered in it. It's an occasional grocery getter and forest service road exploration car to it's fine.
