- The Tahoe RST Performance Edition brings Police grade SUV from Chevrolet. On the outside you will notice 20in wheels, 6-piston Brembo brakes, and GM performance exhaust. On the inside you will be greeted by a leather interior with red contrast stitching. Under the hood is a 6.2L V8 with some mods & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST Performance Edition an SUV worth the price?

Just bought one, discounted off MSRP. We love it. The fit and finish inside and out is A+. The good thing about no sunroof is it allows them to run duct and place full size vents in the roof directly in front of your head. Full air distribution for the middle seats, and all the way back. Fog lamps and lighbulbs don't mean much when the rest of the rig is so great. We compared to the $80g Sequoia before buying and IMO, there IS no comparison. The RST is a lotta money, but it's a lotta SUV.
Here’s what you do this suv. Get a black colored one, tint the windows, get a push bar, and spot light and you got an suv that’ll break necks
Right
I love the way you think!
The Darth Vader ed.

Ugh…that look is SO played out👎🏽
I love this about Chevy adding RST to the Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban. There should be fog lights and the tail lights should be LED and the Radiant Red looks good on this Tahoe!
I’m so happy you like this one!
@@RaitisRidesI love that
I live out in the sticks and hate the led lites. Too dim. Those deer pop up out of the dark too quick. Regular lites light up a bigger area so the deer stop off on the side of the road instead of the middle.
It does not have to be bright, just lit enough to see their movement.
RAITI thank u so much for posting these vids as much as you do! Truly u are the BEST in the business at reviews!!! Keep up the good work man!
That means so much! You deserve it!
As much as I love this SUV and want one, NO it's not worth the price. 80 grand are you kidding me? I'll be fine buying a standard V8 Tahoe, black it out, call it good. I don't need all that extra crap for another 30 grand. You'd probably get better gas mileage with the standard V8 option as well.
Great classic RR review, had me laughing out loud! 10/10
I'd love Chevy to do a Tahoe ZL1 with the 6.2L supercharged V8 like Cadillac did with their Escalade-V.
That's the Tahoe SS they should have built. I think they're worried it might steal sales of the overpriced Escalade V
Nah, that naturally aspirated 6.2 with 430 horsepower is plenty!!!
@@drift3rkid66 disagree. I have more than that in my TBSS that weighs less. 430hp.isnt near enough in a Tahoe
It is a beauty and a beast. Hands down my favorite Tahoe trim.
It’s one heck of a beast!
If only they made this more affordable!🥴 I want this exact car, same color, trim, everything including a sunroof
Nice
Nice paint job
Nicely Blacked out
Thanks for bringing it
I knew you would like this one
Infotainment center is small for 81k. 10inch screen minus the bezel makes it more like 9
I can understand how you feel
Yes at that price range it does need fog lamps. Quite a few zonks on this review. GM should add more detail to the Tahoe. This is a signature vehicle. They give more detail to a Equinox which isn't a top seller. Ford really brings it with the Expedition as far as interior and not cutting costs. A top trim Expedition comes with automatic running boards, LED tail lights and fog lamps and a panoramic sunroof for sure.
Too bad Ford doesn’t bring it with reliability. Those automatic running boards will stop working within the first year most likely. My in-laws have one. Nice vehicle when they have it. It’s only a part time vehicle though, because it spends quite a bit of time at the dealership.
@@jadosa29 In 6 years never had a problem with my auto running boards!
@@tombrown7577 happy to hear that. It could be the area we live. They use a ton of salt in the winter. My in-laws are all Ford people, and there have been 4 Expeditions in the family, they’ve all had trouble with their running boards, among many other things. I would almost consider one if I could trust their dependability, they’re really nice, but after seeing the problems they’ve had I just can’t do it
To be fair the Tahoe is the fist step in the GM lineup for large SUVs and you can tell the leave certain amenities for the next 2 steps, the Yukon & Escalade.
I would rather my running boards not work versus being in the shop for transmission and electrical problems. That is why the department I work for didn't even consider Tahoe's. Even the college departments Tahoe is stuck in the shop right now. The only thing you're going to be pursuing is the next work order at the dealership. These issues have been going on since the 2010 model because one department I worked for used a civilian model and the transmission was made of glass.
These newer GM tricks have been horrendous, endless transmission and engine problems. I'll keep my 03 Tahoe with 285k miles.
Yes, keep your 2003 Tahoe because GMC used to make them way smaller and better than they do today. I don’t care what people say about them being safer than a normal sized car, but I rather get hit by a sedan then trampled by one of these unnecessarily oversized vehicles
How funny Joe one of my coworkers just bought one of these in white and we were going over the specs The only thing I wish this thing came with are Michelin’s instead of fire stone but that’s subjective..
Good points!
Very sad how they are so piecemeal with the options at this price point. No sunroof, no height adjustment option. $82,000 dollars. Love the truck, own one actually but not worth the price.
Beautiful vehicle......hidden rear wiper, GM listened to you Joe...lol. USA. Thanks for showing off this nice "home grown" SUV.
unfortunately no one here in the USA can afford it 😭 lol
I love the jokes about the compartments 😂
81k, though!!! Thats half the price of my townhouse..But, like my dad always said, if you got the peanuts you got the peanuts. Cant take em with you.
And as a L86 owner myself, it should be stated that it requires 91 plus octane fuel. My Sierra Denali will average 22 mpg on the highway at least.
I appreciate you sharing that great ownership info
Is that. Driving slow or. DRIVING IT ?? LOL. thanks
YYEESSS. CHEVROLET ALWAYS EXCELLENT AT SUVs. LOVE IT ❤❤❤❤
VERY RELIABLE
She is beautiful and I’m happy they put the rear wiper up under the spoiler, not for me but for you Joe. Not my type of ride, but if I had a large family, I’d jump on this baby.
Happy 4th Joe, Lori and Stephen.
Finally someone worthy reviews this, awesome review man!
RST = Really Sick Truck
Yeah for that price, no front & rear ventilated seats is insane
As a cost-cutting measure, the industry has waged war against the often functional and always stylish fog lamps.
That big ass suburban and that tiny ass screen inside 😂😂😂😂😂
😂Mad Facts
Got the same screen as my dad’s 2017 Volt😂
I would much rather have buttons and knobs than a big inefficient screen that will look dirty from fingerprints.
Perfect out of town Tahoe thanks for the update Joe hope you folks have a wonderful 4th July and safe one ❤ thanks thank you Steve and you have a good 4th
This Tahoe is a beast! Any ideas how well it handles with a long stretch of curved roads?
Awesome review as always! Keep it up!
Shiiiiit like the best touring suv ever….
I can't find any of these on the lots.
Color 💥 ❤🔥
It pops in the sun for sure!
Do they actually do any mods to the engine with this package ?
This car looks typical Chevrolet - spacious and powerful but cheap-looking. No ventilated seats or sunroof at $81K is inexcusable.
And BTW, I love red delicious apples. 😂
I personally don’t care for heated and cooled seats I’ve never used them on any of my vehicles.
Man I miss previous Tahoes... They looked soo good
I love the quad exhaust on this truck. It looks so cool out back.
81k??...yea pass. Who the hell can afford these cars??
The front end design is a mass, the head lights and the bumper it's a chaos
Just imagine they upgraded the Tahoe and Suburban interior like the 2024 Traverse that would be a game changer
Just got a 2024 white one tahoe rst love it
That is awesome! Congrats!
This car is absolutely amazing!!! I know you were uber excited when that back wiper was hidden 😂😂we know you cant stand an exposed wiper lol
2 super zonks Joe
1. No sunroof
2. No ventilated seats at 82k
Not worried about the sunroof but no ventilated seats is ridiculous
And only 10inch screen
i really do not like sunroofs
@@christianalvarez7799 I would much rather have buttons and knobs than a big inefficient screen that will look dirty from fingerprints.
If my Hyundai Kona can have LED’s front and rear, why can’t a car at this price point? 🤷🏻♂️. Of course, I think all vehicles should have full LED’s, but on a 2023 Tahoe with an $8000 performance package, it just seems like cutting corners. Car looks great though and as always, nice review!
Fancy LED lighting isn't really the focus point of this truck. If you want all that you can step up to a GMC Yukon. The RST is the trim level that is more performance based on Chevy SUV's and trucks so there will be some things that arent available that you'd see on a higher trim or a Yukon.
@@professorpoopypants1829that's just an excuse. LED and fog lights at this price point should be a given. The profit margin on suvs and trucks are huge.
@@BaldKiwi117 Fog lights don't come on the new generation of Tahoe's at all, even on the high country. If you want fog lights just step up and get a Yukon. And the RST with the 6.2L with 4WD already starts at 71k so it's not surprising that a couple feature packages equipped on this SUV pushes the price point past 80k so no this ain't an excuse. The RST is performance branded and a middle of the road trim so there will be certain things you won't get on the RST that you might find on the Premier or High Country.
Hey, Joe good review on the Tahoe, is this SUV the little brother to the escalade v model lol.
The same
Pretty much
@@RaitisRidesYeah, there a few differences! But not like major- Ex. Infotainment screen is a little different from the Tahoe.
No HUD???...that coupled with the fact that i'm not ready to sell my place to buy one, inspires me to pass on this one and keep my AMC Gremlin for a few more years...great video Joe,as always :)))
The reviews are always fun and he makes you laugh 😅😅
The 2009 Toyota Matrix has a radiant red color! I feel that this Tahoe's radiant red is a little more towards like a rusted red a bit.
Lol why am I keep watching these Tahoe videos? I’m single and don’t have any kids but I’m really considering buying this one. Good review 🎉
Thanks for taking the time to say that! Trust me i know how you feel!
@@RaitisRidesMaster Joe please review the 2500 HD ZR2 Bison when it’s available! That’s my other contender vs. this Tahoe right now. Thanks!
Do you think they hold out on several expected features to protect the Escalade ?
Great color ! Huge Twinkie transporter 👍
You know it Tom
Would love to see this RST vs a Wagoneer Carbide with the Hurricane I-6 SO
Every time you mention Twinkies I always get a laugh lol. I love it!🤣
Hey Joe I enjoy watching your videos 😊
Thanks for tuning in!
@@RaitisRides your welcome Joe
Nice Video Man!
Thanks Razi
Needs fog lights and the ZR2 hood inserts and the roof rails/crossbars. And Borla type s exhaust.
The official Mobile headquarters of Raiti's Rides.
Seriously, if I was forced to get a mile high, aerodynamic brick of a family hauler, it's either this or the Durango SRT 392
You think the Yukon will get these performances upgrades somehow Joe?
This is so very true
I'm saying to myself "Joe, I don't need a full size SUV with the police interceptor pursuit package, and $80K for this is a joke."
No roof rails ? Where is the fire department going to put their ladder ? Fog lamps? What do you want for a +80k Tahoe. GM never sweats the details. No vent seats. Sunroof ? Guess you need the 10k luxo package.
Thank you Steven and Joe love your videos
Happy Sunday, another great review from Joe 🦾🦾
Mindbuildingsolutions approved.
Excellent video and content.
Wow looks great specially 3rd row. I think looks better than Cadillac Escalade
I love it ... but certainly can't hold a candle to that Escalade V with exhaust sound.
Compared with Ford Expedition Platinum & Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Right
Hey joe why Lori not behind the camera???? Her shots are so much cleaner
Now my SUV to buy!
Why Chevy doesn’t include a HUD on a trim and performance level of this caliber escapes me. I love the High Country don’t get me wrong but at this price for this performance variant it seems an obvious omissions that would disappoint many buyers
Did you notice when he's driving you can see in windshield reflection the area where HUD normally is? Does it really NOT have it???
Alright, I have one. Have a 0-60 App. Got on some back road highways and tried to get a 0-60 in the mid 5 seconds. Best I can get is 6.9. Sports Mode. Traction Off. It feels and sounds better than 6.9. How do you get it under 6 seconds? I absolutely love it regardless.
I love it Joe and Lori and Steve and keep up the good work and I love the video 👍 💯💯💯💯💯
I’ll never understand how GM optimize their packages! No cooled seat and sunroof or Led lighting! WTH?
GM dropped the ball on this. It’s $81k for a black package with a few upgrades…no fog lights or led tail lights. They treat the Tahoe like an unwanted adopted child.
Its a Chevy what do you expect 😂
I agree Zonk - No Fog Lights, Zonk No Led Brake lights , WTF $90000 .
I wish ride height like the Z71 and more sidewall
The fact A Telluride was passed during the making of this video is even more convincing to grab one of these Tahoe's 😊
I’d rather save 50 thousand and go with the telluride
A Real SUV has a v8 engine
I wish you would’ve put up the seat when sitting in third row. It still looks cramped like our Suburban.
If they wanted to make this a REAL performance edition, they could've done the same with the Escalade V, and get the Corvette 6.2 V8.
As always, great review. Thank you
Gonna have to zonk the sound of that exhaust
I love this car! Thanks for the review!
Chevy did a great job!
@@RaitisRides I agree!
Very nice, but wish Chevy would have redone the dash and but the shifter back in the center for this one. All good for the price. Always great review Joe
That is an excellent point!!
The 2024 will have a small dash refresh. I heard the infotainment will not longer stick out. Rather look like the Silverado 2024
What youre Getting in a Police Tahoe with the RST interior and a 6.2 with intake and exhaust. You get the 9C1 police Body (no roof rack) and the Police Spec Frame, suspension, Brakes, and tires. Its got a suspension tuned specifically for heavy duty use, and handling. its a great buy
Never thought I'd see the day that chevys would be luxury car prices.
Zonk - should have offered a Z71 lifted version with 17" rims on 33" tires or 35" tires,
Joe, it’s those awful transmission buttons. Ruins the whole rig for me.
My favorite Chevrolet SUV I wanted to buy.
Great review as always, agree with you on all the ZONKS!......just as an aside the term "Interceptor" is trademarked by Ford not GM, The Chevrolet Police Tahoe is called the PPV (Police Pursuit Vehicle) Ford doesn't want anyone else using Interceptor name. One question I have is can you get the performance package on any higher trim levels?...I ask because it seems like a lot of really good content is missing on the RST trim level. The recent release of the 2025 refreshed Tahoe might have some changes but its not public info yet.
Yeah front fog lamps should be there.
I will order the Suburban 2024 Premier as soon as it comes out. I got 3 kids and the Tahoe doesn’t have enough trunk space. I’m waiting for the 2024 refresh look with the hope that it will look better. The RST looks amazing but how frustrating it is that we cannot equip that trim with anything! You can’t put the rear view digital mirror, panoramic sunroof. Very frustrating because I find that the RST trim looks better than the Premier trim. But still getting the Premier for the additional options.
At least the suburban has nearly the same cargo space as a honda odyssey, but the third row passengers will like their knees being less high compared to the odyssey and previous gen Tahoe/Suburban
9:55 glad to see you can lock the glove box some vehicles don't have that
This color looks outstanding on this vehicle
Thanks joe. Another Awesome video 😊😊😊
10mm lower?! I was so close, I was thinking 10.5mm. The color is 🔥.
Edit: Y’all gotta clean that elbow grease before shooting. C’mon!
I love the push button trans.
Love the dials and small screen. Screen doesn't get in the way.
Wish list is trailering brake controller and fog lights and ventilated seats.
Thanks for another great review.
Very good suggestions.
I have one available and does not have a name to claim it yet! Will be available in a couple months!
GM does it right with the removal of chrome, unlike Ford who has the chrome on their Stealth Expedition. They also put dual exhaust on their performance package.
Love this!! Thanks Joe!!
I like the interior and the engine sound is really pleasant.
81k and no sunroof, rear LEDs, HUD, vented seats, and by todays standards small infotainment screen is a hard pill to swallow.
Hope 2024 will solve these shortcomings.
Does the engine split between 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder depending on driving conditions ??
All they was give more 13 more hp they should’ve just threw the z06 engine in it then that’s a performance suv I feel like they should’ve put the z06 engine in it that’s just what I would’ve done ijs
Joe excellent review gorgeous truck like what chevy did. Will you do a review on the suburban edition of that truck good video 📹
Nice video keep up the good work Joe
Joe you should try the cosmic crisp apples 😋 an added plus is they don't brown
Ok for 2023, I'd wait for 2024 when it will be updated with other GM Trucks and dash and screen..
