2022 is when someone will datamine and figure out that the Amico ownership doesn't actually run on NFTs, at which point Intellivision will put out a video claiming they were just trolling the haters, and NFT in this context always meant New Friend Tommy, because anyone who buys an Amico game is Tommy's new friend.
If they do that, then they have the fed coming after them. They received public grant money because they said they were using NFT technology for this console. I would not be surprised at all if Tommy ended up behind bars once this is all done. I just would hope that "Tommy" would keep calling in with updates about him and his new roommate.

Actually, Tommy has the perfect security planned for these "physical products" and their ID codes: they'll never be on store shelves in the first place. Can't steal the codes if there's no place to buy em!

I am really curious to see what his old co-host and friend Victor Lucas will end up saying about all of this in the end. I am a fan of Victor's and feel he is a truly genuine person. During a livestream of his I brought up the Amico and he said that he did not want to speak on that at the moment.
It really is nice to see someone like Jenovi give his raw impressions. YET, even with that, even with someone being real and honest, some Amicommunists still attack the guy on not being "up to date" with every single piece of Amico news. I thought the market was Mom and Dad of today? Are they up to date with the Amico? Do they even know it exists? What does being up to date even have to do with "impressions" when opening a package? They are cheap and flimsy, that's it. These zealots are 100% part of the problem, not Jenovi or Pat/Ian who criticize with facts. Tommy literally spent 10 plus minutes talking about what "limited edition" meant in his unboxing video, can never just give a simple, direct answer, only to say there will be something "special" for owners digitally on the console. He had to gall to say "nobody asked me this", as if people never asked what does limited edition get you on AtariAge and social media commentary. So being vague will really bring on more sales because a digital item will be waiting for you. Oh how special! You would think that would be something to market, printed on the back of the box or include a slip of paper in the "limited edition" informing customers what they will receive for their hard earned dollars. Nah, Tommy thinks less information is better, but someone like Jenovi should be "up to date" on vague/non-information coming from the People's Republic of Intellivision Company themselves. 🤡
These "physical games" remind me of the scene in Dumb & Dumber when the brief case is opened and it's filled with IOU's. "That's as good as [games], Sir. Those are IOU's".
The fact that the "boxes" won't even stay closed once the shrink wrap is removed should tell you they were never designed to be opened in the first place. IE expected them to sit on a shelf for display purposes (also explains why the RFID card has no security). My headcanon is that Tommy wanted the Coleco Amico, but _something_ happened and he didn't want his product associated with a scam. ...Because he's running one and wanted a clean record.
Not sure how these could be sold in Canada. Games that require downloads for some of the content has to have a warning put on the outside the front of the case. If no actual game in inside, that also needs to be on the case as well.
Also, the Amico just so happens to be missing a few mission critical things. Like that little label on the back of my keyboard even though it doesn't do radio communications, still gives it a classification as an electronic product. Like ICES or NMB?
Why is Tommy Tallarico is selling Skylanders shaped like Intellivision cartridges? Selling the "carts" without the RFID base reader. At least Skylanders look cute on a shelf without a base reader fake carts are LAME!
This non-physical media is absolutely perfect. Why? Because there won't be any physical console, either! The perfect media for the Phantom Amico. Sorry to disappoint everyone who backed this, preordered this, and now bought this phony "physical" media. All you bought was Tommy Tallarico. You bought his crap, and stuffed his wallet. I don't know what purpose a Tommy Tallarico serves, outside of bringing us unintentional comedy, but... You got him. Enjoy. Mike Kennedy wishes he could be Tommy Tallarico when he grows up.
Now I'm not only looking forward to this week's "Tommy" call, but also next week's call too already. I can also see Tommy going to jail for this eventually and hope that "Tommy" keeps calling with updates about his new roommate and their time together.
Honestly if they are just passing a plain text id... yea no these things are going to be endlessly activatable. This is no way this system is going to even remotely have anti-piracy measures.
People who invested with Tommy deserve what they get. Why would you give money to a guy who matches the profile of every hot car stereo peddler from the 90's?
I've watched this video several times on the Amico playlist, but this is the first time I noticed the ESRB rating on the boxes. Firstly, why would they put an ESRB rating on a product that technically is not a game? Secondly, how was the ESRB able to rate the games shown on the box? Are the games actually done? Perhaps Tommy fraudulently put the rating on the box before submitting a game to the ESRB?
Just watched the MJR vid on the evercade games/console. Amazing little console with awesome game packs- for around $100. I love the game boxes and coloring convention too.
I just dont get why being a fan of the product still drives sales when the buy is so egregiously bad. I am the biggest PS1 fan; it is my favorite system. Did I buy the PS classic? Absolutely not, not even with the price drop.
I was interested in this for a while, mostly because of supposive Earthworm Jim game. Im glad I decided not to pre-order. Wow. Thanks for keeping us up to date!
@@a-volpe9091 Yeah, I know that now. Which is why I said "supposive". I haven't seen anything on it so I decided not to preorder based on that, which was about a year ago. It's sad, I hope EW Jim releases on something else. :)
I was on the Intellivision mailing list because I ordered controller inserts from them back when they released the Intellivision Flashback years ago. I was onboard with the Amico because I only knew Tommy as a guy on G4TV who was a big Tron fan. I would have been one of those suburban dads who would have preordered the Amico. But I knew about the Coleco Chameleon; That’s what made me not pull the trigger on the Amico.
What will prevent hackers from going after this is the fact almost no one will actually own an Amico to use these codes on. Security through obscurity.
A great point that you guys made is that if Evercade can make a physical product with a nice case, a full color manual and an actual cartridge, what is Tommy's excuse? Oh wait, he has no excuse because he is a snake oil salesman.
@@thegamelibrarian1681 The only thing hackers would get from scanning the RFIDs or hacking the Intellivision database is to get the download codes. Even if the games existed and you could download them, most of the games already exist in some form on other platforms and unless someone is out there building an Amico emulator, they would still be worthless until the hardware comes out. That's a lot of trouble to go through for a bunch of mobile quality shovelware for a console that may never come out.
Tommy T the CEO of a company that is selling IOUs of so called "physical products" that could be games sometime down the road. I agree with Pat that this is indeed insane that the RFID cards are not encrypted at all which could lead to a disaster waiting to happen as Pat mentions @12:26 with people using a random RFID scanner to steal the codes for the games and having the NTF feature kick in more than it should. WHAT THINGS could exist that mitigate that issue with out explanation Tommy? I think Tommy is a joke at this point because he seems like he doesn't care if anyone steals codes for games that his company is trying to sell.
Who in their right mind is going to spend all their time and money trying to steal games that cost 2.99 in their digital store. People are buying physical collectors editions because of the coins and artwork. Also not all games are going to have physical releases.
@@thegamelibrarian1681 True that not all of the games are not going to be physical releases. But there are some very insane people out there who would possibly do just that. But Yeah I can't think anyone with a proper brain who would though.
You think that stealing codes and posting them on a site like G2A and getting free money... Would be too much trouble... For free money? People literally use way more complex methods to steal codes from other stores. What are you talking about.
I assumed they would at least have included rfid shielding in the packaging like Amiibo. I did have a feeling all along though that the rfid feature in general would complicate the hell out of transferring ownership. Even more so if the code is written on the card. The problem is you can't just buy the game used. It sounds like the original owner needs to do something to transfer the digital game to you. I also have to wonder how many people accidentally leaked a game code doing an unboxing.
Well, you know. If anything that Tommy has claimed up to this point about how it works is even anywhere close to reality. TT is the kind of guy that if he said the sky was blue, I'd have to take a moment to double check, yeah?
This console is the one last splash chance for Tommy and others to make a good chunk of money. I had snapdragon in my cheap no name cell phone 10years ago..
I don't care what's going on in the world if I wake up and see a Pat and and Ion doing another Amico update that jumps the Cue! Oh.. looks like Alec Baldwin shot and killed somebody on set..what's this??? Pat and Ian talking Amico?? (Click Play)
at this point I may owe Tommy some money for all the entertainment the Amico has been providing me with. Not because its a great system with great games, but because listing to Pat and Ian talk about it all the failures and sketchy behavior has been great!
I suspect that Intellivision will add some extra band-aid authentication for these "boxed editions" e.g. provide your store order number after scanning the card.
I still kind of want one "game." Too bad they don't sell them that way. If this system never comes out, I get a box mockup and collector coin--how cool would it be to have that for the Indrema L600 or Phantom?

@Coffee Man …actually…it’s setting up for TT to lay all the blame on Todd & Slade.
Tommy is wearing a new orange jumpsuit and is laughing it up with Orange County's finest. In Prison.

Why is Tommy Tallarico is selling Skylanders shaped like Intellivision cartridges? Selling the "carts" without the RFID base reader. At least Skylanders look cute on a shelf without a base reader fake carts are LAME!
The "things in place": A big rusty metal box to block the RFID - $250
*RESET THE CLOCK!*
I dunno if Pat & Ian are aware yet, but Fig may have literally been bankrupted by the lack of return on Amico. Wild stuff.
Dude even Nintendo knew to make sure the NFC chip wasn’t readable in the Amiibo packaging.
What’s the over/ under on how many days/ weeks before Mr Tommy goes to jail?
With the SEC already involved, I can only hope it's under, rather than over.
Jenovi rocks, a true retro gaming fan. Great video lads 👏
I cant wait to.play " Ferrari Payments" when it releases. $59.99 Amico console sold seperately
I'm surprised that there's actually a download for the games. I thought all the games would be preloaded and the card would just be an unlock code.
Did Pat catch the news that "fluffernutter" was added to the dictionary?
Now I'm not only looking forward to this week's "Tommy" call, but also next week's call too already.
I can also see Tommy going to jail for this eventually and hope that "Tommy" keeps calling with updates about his new roommate and their time together.
Honestly if they are just passing a plain text id... yea no these things are going to be endlessly activatable. This is no way this system is going to even remotely have anti-piracy measures.
Who in there right mind would blow 20 bucks on a digital copy and a lame coin. This company must be ran by cracksmokers.
It’s actually $80 or $160 because you have to buy them in 4 or 8 bundles
@@cellversesfrieza that's messed up man.
No irate repartee from Tommy this episode....damn.
Pat and Ian's favourite Steven King book has to be The Tommyknockers.

People who invested with Tommy deserve what they get. Why would you give money to a guy who matches the profile of every hot car stereo peddler from the 90's?
Ahhh yes my favorite segment.
This whole Amico situation has very strong Fyre Fest vibes…
I've watched this video several times on the Amico playlist, but this is the first time I noticed the ESRB rating on the boxes.
Firstly, why would they put an ESRB rating on a product that technically is not a game?
Secondly, how was the ESRB able to rate the games shown on the box? Are the games actually done? Perhaps Tommy fraudulently put the rating on the box before submitting a game to the ESRB?
Like buying an engagement ring for a girl that doesn’t exist.
and the chick doesnt even come with a coin and a lenticular card - pffffft!
Or like buying a fake ring for a real girl and then she finds out.

Wow. What a disaster. So glad I abandoned the idea of getting the Amico a long time ago...
Just when you think it couldn't get any crappier....
Toilets and Tommy and this amico, are getting shittier every day. It's the ultimate dumpster fire for your popcorn movie pleasure.
Earthworm Jim 4 is Never coming out dude..
@@a-volpe9091 Yeah, I know that now. Which is why I said "supposive". I haven't seen anything on it so I decided not to preorder based on that, which was about a year ago. It's sad, I hope EW Jim releases on something else. :)

@@a-volpe9091 yup, already know that. Thanks for thr details though.
You made the Right choice..!!
i dont care how anyone trys to explain it , i think NFTs are scams and are a indication of something being a scam lol
You are definitely in the minority with that viewpoint.

What will prevent hackers from going after this is the fact almost no one will actually own an Amico to use these codes on. Security through obscurity.
Oh boy, the sequel that just keeps on giving! 🍿🍿🍿 what a clusterf%$#!
A great point that you guys made is that if Evercade can make a physical product with a nice case, a full color manual and an actual cartridge, what is Tommy's excuse? Oh wait, he has no excuse because he is a snake oil salesman.
The best defence the Amico has against hackers is that those games are so worthless no one would want to steal them
Hackers have managed to pirate every physical cartridge and disc game ever released. Not sure what your point is.

It seems to me currently that stealing the games according to the methods discussed here would take more time and effort than playing them.
Imagine if Pat had done a podcast every dayfrom 1997 to 2011 leading up to Duke Nukem Forever...this is what it feels like with the Amico LOL
There could be a smaller section on Too Human, and the Phantom Console - I mean the jokes write themselves for that one.
How long until Pat finds an Amico for $5 on flea market madness?
“And you gotta autograph it!”
Probably never because Intelevision will run out of money before they can put the system out.
