I bought one of these on release and could not be happier. The blue dial is simply stunning and changes dramatically depending on the light. I love the hands, numerals, pointer date, and the domed crystal (basically everything on the face of the watch). Very high finishing on the case, and 38mm is perfect for my smaller wrists Only downsides are no finishing on the movement (Stowa offers this at about 1k less), which isn't a huge deal. And also the lack of bracelet option, which I am hoping Oris offers in a future 38mm release
I had the 40mm version and sold it because I thought it was a bit too big for my 6.25" wrist. I think this would be perfect for me. I also had the bracelet but always preferred it on leather or a NATO.
I have recently purchased the grey and feel this is one of the best watches for the price. Very high quality in all areas with exception of the movement, however I’m more than happy with a Salita at this price point. Great review
Great video. Your video provided much better images than Oris’ website does (Oris, your website could use a refresh). I wish the pointer date was red, it always looks fun to me. If these also had sub seconds, I’d go buy one today
Thank you for mentioning the lack of AR and high glare. I love Oris as a brand but I just can't buy a dial that I can't see well due to glare. Sinn or Breitling are great alternatives but I'd love to add Oris especially cal 400s to my collection if they fix the glare :)
I do like the 38/39/40mm size, I think Oris needs to release more of their offerings like the aquis relief or GMTs in these more accessible and popular sizes. The average wrist size is 6.25 to 7.25 inches in which these three sizes work perfectly with and are the most popular for these sized wrists. Not a fan of all their special editions only being offered in 43.5mm. I would pick up their GMT or their aquis relief in a heartbeat if they came in a 40 or 39mm. I know they offer some of their aquis in 39.5 but all of their 39.5 aquis' dials are just to plain for my liking. I really really like their aquis relief, their GMT, their titanium aquis with the black ceramic bezel and radiant Grey dial. Absolutely gorgeous and have that pop. But of course, only offered in the less popular size of 43.5 which I find a very odd choice. Why not offer these more premium watches in the more popular and accessible 40mm size?

As you know, I’m a bracelet guy myself. However in instance, I am reversing myself. The deer leather straps look wonderful, and I actually don’t care for that bracelet. The watches themselves are very legible, easy to read, and a nice design

I have to say I'm a big fan of the pointer date complication where you can still read the date in whatever position the hour and minute hands are in. I've no issue with the Sellita based movements either. I may be wrong (I usually am, just ask my ex GF) but I think this collection uses the same case as the in house designed Cal 403 version with the pencil hands. Maybe we may see a cal 403 with the old Arabic numerals and cathedral hands? I already have the 40mm Ox Blood dial but if I didn't I would probably consider the grey dial as that has the red crescent date indicator. The others are also great but that crescent is almost the same colour as the dial and to my old eyes could be harder to see at an easy glance.
What a lovely release. Love the colours and love the idea of deer leather, but done in a sustainable way. I agree the blue version is best. I think going forward I’d love to see the Calibre 400 used in the big crown though

How you rate this against something like the CW sealander, that has same or similar movement? In your opinion does the Oris have the extra quality as well as the heritage to warrant a significant hike in cost?

Bruce I love your channel and your reviews. I am confused around the statement of sustainable leather. What is sustainable about killing an animal for the leather. How does a dead animal re grow its hide when it's dead. Using part of a hide that was previously disguarded doesn't make it sustainable. I think this is a case of marketing dictating the conversation and its miss leading.
Its not misleading. The red deer population is regulated in Switzerland. Yearly about 15k deer are culled to preserve the balance of the ecosystem. Those deer hides that would go to waste are sourced by Cervo Volante and ulitized in their products. They use no animal farms like other leather good companies do. CV uses natural materials in the tanning process and does it all in Switzerland. I think it's a great idea to use the skins that would otherwise be discarded. Since the population is carefully regulated it's a sustainable process. If you are adverse to any type of animal regulation you may not like this process.

They do offer a couple BCPD models with the in house movement. And I'm sure that will expand over time
