      Rich this trail has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I think I rode it for the first time in the late 1980s. Thanks for the feedback, I always enjoy hearing from you.

    Great job taking us on the ride with you and it was entertaining with stories and history. Nice job including the old photos. When we watch your videos it makes us want to go on bike rides and through exciting trails. Filming and editing was spot on for sure along with music. Great video John well done!

    Some interesting stuff on this ride. I especially like those little canyons you ride through.

      “Little canyons” never heard them called that before. They are very cool literally but often wet. The railroads call the cuts. Thanks for watching.

    Looks like a great ride and great history about the train stations and the tragedy of 1899. That trail also has geocaches on it just about every 500 feet, which is how I found out about it. Did a few out and back hikes to find all the geocaches on it awhile back. Was cool to see hikers, bikers, and even some horses on it.

      @sueb860 I’m a bit of a history buff and love railroads in particular. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed those parts. I did not realize there were so many geocaches out there. If done well, they can motivate folks to get outside. Take care.

      Thanks 👍 you should try it some time. The bike I was riding is actually a gravel bike. They are part road bike and part mountain bike.

    Looks like a good trail and fun to splash through those small puddles. I liked how you showed the old photo of the train and shared general history of the area.

      Thanks Sarah, I was thinking of you as we just came through some of your turf on our trip. We visited both ends of Assateague Island NS, The First State NHP (John Dickinson Plantation) and Hopewell Furnace NHS.

      It’s free and they do a great job with the stories and house tour.

    How many miles is the trail? In the summer months it would be a beautiful ride through greenery it's a nice trail. What month was this? Enjoyed the ride, thanks for sharing 👍

      This this was done in April 2024. It's ten miles one way. If you're interested in riding more in Connecticut or New England let me know I can give you some Amtrak friendly options. My friends and are riding C&O and GAP from DC to Pittsburgh next month. I have also been inspired to try the Erie Canalway and now the Ohio to Erie Trail from watching your videos. Take care!

    Looks a bit ugly, due to the flooding I assume? Not usually like that?

    • @OutdoorsWithJohnUSA
      @OutdoorsWithJohnUSA  3 місяці тому

      I agree it does look ugly at times but the surface water is generally not deep and the ground firm under it. Little or no mud makes it easy to peddle through. I find this to be one of the charms of this fun trail. Thanks for checking out the video.
