5:08 - Nita Strauss does not play guitar for MGK. Nita played for Alice Cooper for 8 years, and just recently joined Demi Lovato's touring band. Onyx morales was my favorite this year!! To answer a couple questions that i remember you having
That microphone thing that rafa was using is called a talk box.. you control the sound contortion by making sound with your voice (the guitarist of Bon Jovi uses it in Living on a Prayer)
The guitar that Drewsif was using is the Tosin Abasi brand of guitars
The guitars with the headstock cutoff are called headless guitars and i believe they are meant to serve tuning stability
A couple of people are playing dual and triple neck guitars.. it was common of them previously to have a 6 string guitar on one neck and a 12 string guitar on another neck and if there was a 3rd neck itd usually be a bass guitar.. now they’ve gone totally wild and i think this is to achieve different tunings
I would say that most everyone in these shred collabs has at least a working knowledge of music theory and scales.. and their talent widely varies in how they apply these various techniques and methods
Finally.. as a guitarist whose been playing for 20+ years and still can’t play 1/4 of this stuff.. it really just takes practice and desire.. some people are naturally gifted at picking things up super fast.. ive always been more of a rhythm player and haven’t dedicated much time to lead guitar techniques..
But if you want to pick up a guitar and just play it.. do it.. it’s fun and rewarding when you figure things out
    Love your videos Alex!!

It always fascinating to see all these people because you get to see how they play, how they produce their sound if they were to have one that sounds just like them, using techniques that is never seen normally on a regular basis each and every one of them. Plus, seeing the guitarist, and bass, community as a whole literally coming together to share what they all love.

The difference in skill level is soul. Definitely can tell when it's there or when it's missing. As far as solos go, think of it as coming up with bars in a battle rap, you practice and have some in your arsenal but the more you practice, the better you get at improv.

Bradley's "Sweepman" was based on a guitar technique called "sweep picking" where you essentially rake or SWEEP the pick across the strings while doing some incredibly fast legato arpeggio runs on the other hand. You might notice that Bradley's doing very little picking for the actual number of notes that he's producing and that's thanks to sweep picking.
Now onto the same encouragement I gave you on a previous review where you talked about wanting to learn guitar - do it! The only real thing that sets you apart from the players in this video (besides maybe their own personal creativity) is 1) practice, 2) practice, and 3).... practice. And the younger you start, the better. I want to see an Alex Plays Guitar series next year with a monthly progress upload. You can do it!!!

This is so much fun. I love it. And when you asked about skill level and if people could interchange parts and whatnot, it's often less about skill level when they're all this good, and more about style of play. They could probably work on it and learn different riffs and solos, but each person is going to play it differently and everyone prefers different sounds. It's all amazing, though.

There's actually a Finnish band called KYPCK and their guitarist Sami Lopakka (ex-Sentenced) has a custom AK-47-shaped baritone guitar.
If you want to check them out, I just wanna tell you that they sing in russian. Their vocalist graduated from Oxford Christ Church with main subject of Russian language and literature. He also sings in Iron Maiden tribute band Made In Iron and was in Dreamtale. He teaches english and russian.

So if you want to know more about angel Vivaldi, makes solo music mainly but features other popular musicians on tracks as well, I recommend listening to Serotonin by angel Vivaldi himself, features Nita Strauss who is also in the collab
Edit: Just slipped my mind but also during Hayden Maringer’s part when he went over the fret board it was musically beneficial, it’s called a harmonic bend, you don’t have to go over the top to perform it but it can make it easier to do it, and it sounds cool

Angel Vivaldi IS the man who's music introduced me to guitar focused instrumentals. I found one song called ( . _ _ _ _) that was so amazing and new to me that to this day I still listen to it and find new music because of it. If you ever see this just know your music really did change a life and I thank you for that.

19:13 most times it's just because it looks cool but some things are easier to play when your playing overhand, for example the electric guitar intro to through the fire and flames by Dragonforce is much easier to play overhand because of the distance between frets. Overall the practical application of the overhand technique would be to make large stretches easier to play
