- The age old question, how smart are fish? Do fish know the difference between fishing w/ bait or fishing with lures? Today we are testing a real shrimp versus a fake lure shrimp at the beach to find out a little bit more about which bait the fish prefer. I have a feeling that I know which is going to win, but yo will have to watch to find out yourself.

Hey skipper I love ur vids watching from jamaica learnt soo much in my fishing journey in the 3 years I've been fishing ...I find it super convenient tho to put a snap swivel on the end of my main line n make my rigs with a barrel swivel so I can easily switch between rigs or lure depending on the situation

I love your fishing videos and ideas. I've also purchased soft plastic lures from Temu, including small crabs, etc. My concern is the plastic scent they come with. Maybe it's a reason they aren't doing well for targeted species of fish. I'm going to try putting them into a scent container before going out next. Tight lines and to what works on the day of fishing!
The scented lures that I got from Temu work pretty well. Maybe soaking your plastic lures in some scent is a good idea.

Those Popa(Idnk th rest of the name) reminds me of a similar fish we fish here in Argentina, we call them "Palometa" (No to confuse with "Palometa" used to name a type of piranha) They taste amazing, the more you age the meat in the fridge the more salty it gets but i't a great fish to catch with lures. Also "bluefish" looks like what what we call "Anchoas de banco" or "Caballa" hard to catch here in the South of the continent. Love the content!
All fish are same everywhere just little bit different shape or color. The taste depends where it lives. Ive caught beautiful red snapper in the area close to mud and its meat smelled like hell.

Hey Skipper, question have you had any problems with telescopic rods coming apart while fishing when catching big fish. the biggest im looking to catch will be speckled trout, which i know isn't really big, but i want to know ill be good using one. i don't like having a big rod laying in my truck, looking for compact sizes.

I tie multiple hooks like you but after threading line in through hook eyelet I like to twist looped section of line a few times before looping it around the hook ; i finish the knot not around shank of the hook but around the eyelet . Also will tie a square not bellow hook to keep it from slipping or will square knot the loop and hook I just tied if I want it more permanent.

If you're on a beach it's best to stay away from lures but if you're on a pier lures are outstanding you can catch pompano red fish trout all kinds of species of fish. If you're on the beach it's best to use bait. When comparing two different things you got to make it to where it's evenly matched a Pier with both of these rigs would be better proof of which each one serves and throw a shrimp out there your liable to get a gaftop, on a Pier while a lure will catch you all kinds of fish.

Only problem I had with hooks was they would just break instead of bending a little. Difference on soft plastic is actual scent. Saltwater it doesn't matter much
Try fishing the lures first light early morning. That's what I've witnessed on other sites. Also please get yourself a cheap pair of nail clippers and a lanyard. So that you can clip the line tags, instead of using your teeth. You'll thank me later in life. As I did what you are doing and chipped two teeth. Cost a fortune to have them repaired and eventually replaced with crowns.
I have not seen a whitening. They look like a red. The only difference is the dot on the tail?

How long did it take to get items from temu
Ive used lures most of my life. Now that im getting into saltwater fishing, I plan on using bait exclusively. This video is further proof to avoid lures for a long time.
I can't talk about fishing in the US since I'm from Argentina. But from experience I can tell some salt water speccies depend on smell for hunting. Knowing what you aim for and what they do to hunt gives you a hint on how to fish them. Like big eyes and big mouth with fangs means they are hunter on the run, while small eyes and small mouth mean they depend on smell to get thei'r food

why use that bait elastic wrap on dead shrimp? hook it right and don't worry about it.
Keeps the fish from picking ur bait apart they have to take it hook and all I started using it about 3 months ago and I dont lose half the bait I did before. Keeps it on the hook better

Artificual lures is a scam. People be hooking artificial lures on the fish after they landed the fish to trick people into buying them. It only works on yucky dumb jack crevalles.
Sometimes they catch, but the effort and energy one has to put in isn't worth it at all, Crabs cut in half or any cut bait will outfish anything else

Jack crevalle is not a good tasting fish. Bluefish taste good if you bleed it immediately and cook it the same day.
