    this light in my opinion is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a 26650 flood light without breaking the bank. it's built tough! been using it for a month now here in the middle East. handles the heat and humidity well and I'm able to run it on turbo for 3 minutes before it steps down. just invest on a good quality battery and you'll be very happy with this light

    I have an older Convoy L6. This M3 will make a great little brother. Just ordered one. Bought for $38 on BGood! Love Convoy! The M3 reminds me very much of the Convoy X3 I have which takes a single 26650 but is designed more as a thrower. I LOVE that this one is set up as a power flood. It functions brilliantly in that roll.

    Love everything about your videos --- the editing, the graphics, the music, the side-by-side comparisons, etc. These videos are extremely informative and of the highest quality. Much appreciation and respect to you. My one VERY minor suggestion is that you end the videos with the distance shots --- these are the best moments in the whole video (imo), and would be a great way to end the video. Or, perhaps, you find another location for your "Dangerous Place" shots. The pathway you use is too narrow and the images (plants, bushes, fences, etc) often seem drowned out from too much light.

    I've had this light since early February 2020 and I've been meaning to let you know that mine goes directly to turbo when I double click and it doesn't matter if the light is on or off when I double click. So maybe Convoy modified the firmware or the one that you reviewed wasn't working properly. By the way, I got the 4200K version and I love it. I get the longest turbo runtime using a Samsung 40T, a full 2 minutes and 20 seconds vs 1 minute and 45 seconds using my Shockli 5500mAh battery. That XHP70 drops the voltage real fast using turbo!
    I'm still wondering why Imalent put 3 XHP70's in the MS03 and expected one 21700 cell to run it. The current draw must be huge.

    I had been thinking of getting an Emisar D4S for a while but got an M3 when it dropped down to $US30. Beam is a bit narrow compared to my SP36 BLF and this is more of a thrower than I expected. People describe it as very floody but the reflector is a deep one. Choice of tints is a big plus for me and hopefully the driver is efficient considering it has to produce 6V.
    Main flaws in this design for me are primitive UI compared to Anduril, and the long tailcap. Would personally have preferred a shallower reflector with a larger hotspot.
    An XHP70.2 is very efficient, it's apparently 4 XM-L dies and medium (10%) will last 7 hours on a 5000mAh battery.
    The SP36 outclasses it in all aspects (except choice of tints) but the M3 isn't a bad way to enter the 26650 XHP70.2 world.

      @craigs7181 4 роки тому +3

      I know it's been a few months since you asked about runtimes and the reason you probably didn't get a response is the fact that the M3 doesn't come with a battery. The M3 also can use 26650, 21700, and 18650 batteries, so there will be huge differences in runtimes between all the available capacities between all of the batteries available in these 3 sizes and whether or not you use genuine high quality batteries or cheap and possibly fake batteries. I can tell you what I have gotten on the lowest setting so far, which is quite useable indoors and gives enough light to dimmly light a 15x15ft room when I tail stand it and bounce it off the ceiling. I use the black Shockli 20A 5500mAh battery that has an actual measured capacity of around 6025mAh. I've gotten 126 hours so far and the voltage is at 3.61v after that amount of time, so it can go even longer. It's been averaging about .05v drop for every 12hrs of runtime. I've been running it every night for the past 10 nights anywhere from 11-14.5hrs each night. I check the voltage each day. I estimate that by the time I get down to 3.1v I'll have about 200hrs of runtime from the lowest setting (1%). The next setting up (10%) is far too bright to have it in my bedroom while I sleep. In fact, I have to use a dark orange prescription bottle as a diffuser on the 1% setting when I'm actually ready to go to sleep. I have the 4200K tint.

    • @but531
      @but531 4 роки тому

      @@craigs7181 thanks man. as i understand the run times are based of what led you use, how many batteries and what electronic control unit you use and how is set up the levels of light in every push of the button. I asked about run times, because all the known good brands they say how many hours last the lighting and in what levels like the nitecores. But its ok because all the brands now they have done very good job, so if i worry about run times i buy a second battery and carry it with me and is ok.

      @@but531 Yes, all that does have a great affect on runtime. And the M3 doesn't really have a true moonlight mode, but I don't need something that low and the lowest setting on the M3 is great for indoors without being too bright. The runtime I gave you is for the M3 using that particular 26650 battery on the lowest setting. I ran it for another 11 hours last night and now the total so far is 137 hours and now the voltage is down to 3.58v. It only dropped an additional .03v I love my M3. No, it's not an edc light, it's a little too big and it does have some weight to it. But it does work really well and running it on the 40% level is more than enough light for 99% of what I need. If I need a thrower, I'll get out my Astrolux FT03 with an XHP50.2 or my Convoy C8+ with an SST40 if I need something small.

      Just to let you know, I got a total runtime of 185 hours on the 1% setting and 10.5 hours on the 10% setting of which 8 hours and 7 minutes were at the 10% level and then it stepped down to 1% for an additional 2 hours and 27 minutes until it shut off.
      I have to admit that I was impressed with the results, as 1% will dimmly light a 15ft x 15ft room when you tail stand the light and enough light for searching indoors. And 10% is bright indoors but useable and easily enough light to use for a walk at night outside. I won't test 40% and 100% because a couple of variables come into play that will affect runtime, the quality of the battery and environmental conditions, as many batteries won't even be able to run it at all at 100% or it will step down in a very short time because of voltage sag when under the heavy current draw. You can not skimp on the battery for this light unless you only plan on using the lower settings as I did get 100 hours of runtime at the 1% setting from a Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh battery, but it's only rated at 6.8A max, so in an emergency it would be useable only on the lower settings. DEFINITELY NOT AT 100%
