  • In this video, I discuss how I learned where my "time sinks" were while preparing for the USMLE Step 2CK exam and how I addressed them. I discuss how much time you have per question, and how I chose to approach different questions from biostats and multi-part questions to questions with images.
    I hope this video can be helpful for you. If you like it, don't forget to like and subscribe for more related videos!

    Wow...nice video. Thank you! Can you make a video of how you handled nervousness? anxiety? before and during the exam? What sort of mental exercise? or what did you do to calm yourself....and have a clear mind as you moved through your exam? Thanks as always! You are a great inspiration.

    During dedicated did you do all your practice questions in timed mode (Vs. Tutored)? and with do you recommend?

    Hey dr Alyssa.. that was very helpful ❤ can you please share what was your strategy during the last week of dedicated??

    • @alyssa-do
      @alyssa-do  4 місяці тому

      Great question! I'm going to be making a video on this soon! Until then, my strategy during my last week of dedicated was more tailored to the full-length NBME forms. I would take an entire form one day and then review it the next day. After this in the evenings, I reviewed my notes from my incorrect questions, reviewed content from the First Aid for USMLE Step 1 book, reviewed the USPSTF guidelines, or reviewed Mehlman pdfs. I didn't study the day prior to my exam.
      PS, I still have a few months before I can call myself a doc- but even if I was already, please call me Alyssa 😊

    Hi Doc Your videos are amazing 🎉
    Just a doubt is research necessary for internal medicine, paediatrics or other primary care specialities or can I match in those without research
    But I have good Electives

      @alyssa-do  3 місяці тому

      Thank you :) You would most likely be fine if you decided not to do research, but now that Step 1 is P/F, it might become more important to have research and other things on your ERAS application. Just keep an open mind, and you might be able to find research you actually like (a lot of medical students don't like bench research but actually like clinical research)! Good luck!

    Hey Doctor, did u use amboss q bank at all?

    • @alyssa-do
      @alyssa-do  4 місяці тому +2

      I didn't use the Amboss qbank, but I do subscribe to the Amboss library and I used that a lot to look things up! I primarily used UW and the NBME content (full length exams and Clinical Master Series forms).
      PS, not a doc for a few months yet- call me Alyssa 😊

    😮😮😮 how do you recommend strategies for step 1 for students with weak foundations

    • @alyssa-do
      @alyssa-do  4 місяці тому +1

      My first answer would be to start doing practice questions and really trying to understand the explanations and why the correct answer is correct and why the incorrect answers are incorrect. That would help you build a foundation, and doing a lot of practice questions is a great strategy for Step 1 or 2. 😊

    How much time you saved after doing 1 round of qs in your exam before starting doing marked qs?

      ~10 minutes 😊

    Hi Doc
    Having a step 2 CK score of 220-230, is it enough for internal medicine

    • @alyssa-do
      @alyssa-do  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes! I just looked at the NRMP match statistics for internal medicine, and it looks like your chances of matching are much higher than not matching 😊 Look up "NRMP Charting Outcomes in the Match" and find where they have the pdfs for MD seniors or DO seniors.
