Time travel should never exist. EVER!! It kinda explains it in the "Back to the Future" movie series. Let's say you finally get a time machine when you grow up and you want to go back in time and stop a major event fro happening (Such as 9/11). If that never happened, then things would have drastically changed (maybe a whole war could break out), and you might have never been born, or the time machine was never created. If that's so, then the time machine wouldn't be there for you to go back in time and stop 9/11, so it would happen, causing the time machine to be made, and you stopping it again. This would create paradox with those two events repeating over and over again and this would create a ripple in the time, space continuom (not sure how to spell that) and that could cause catastrophic events in the universe (Such as Earth, or even our galaxy not ever being created. Or even the whole universe!!) This is why time travel should never be possible.
You people are stupid. If you go back in time you can do anything because you are in a different universe. similar but alternate.

that depens on the theorie. in one of those, every jump in time you make will open 2 timelines. this sounds logic, since the time you leave doenst magicly vanish just because you left. so by that point, the acutal present and the past, where you are, exist at the same time. so it could be, that what you change in your time, wont affect my time in the present.if it is like this, then stop caring. nothing will ever change
i think if time travel would be real, some people ( like always ) would abuse it.
only traveling forward in time is theoretically possible so it would be hard to abuse it since you are going to the future, so where ever you end up the people will always b e more advanced and have better technology, so the traveler would be at a disadvantage.
SimplyTGG I don't want to be rude but you obviously have no clue on the scientific theory of time travel. You don't teleport to some distant made up future or "theme park" in your example. The faster a object goes, the slower time effects that object while time still flows normally for everything else. Once a object gets near to, or achieves light speed, time slows to the point where anyone inside the object would experience days or weeks inside the object but outside of the object years have already passed. That is why traveling to the future is theoretically possible, I have no idea what you were trying to prove with your comment.
Nicholas Cannaday That isn't time travel though, else sleep would be time travel because you don't experience what ever happened between, say, 8pm and 8am while others might be. You aren't travelling to another time, you're just not experiencing anything between point A and point B.
I think the multiverse is also a funny theorie. But I think it's logic that you can easier travel to the past than to the future.

When I was at camp, I about 9 I had long brown hair, I saw a couple girls who looked like older versions of me and my friends. The girl with brown hair had short hair. I am now 14 and I went back to camp, I have my hair cut now, I found a group of girls who looked like younger versions of me and my friends. Don't think this is time travel, just some sort of time paradox :P

assuming it were even possible, which it isn't, it would depend strongly on what its used for. if it was used selfishly, or frequently, bad. but if used only a couple times selflessly, to prevent something, like the pandemic, that'd be good. though of course, that's the paradox

I remember watching Jodie Fosters' movie Contact years ago as a kid and my mind absolutely bending watching the ending where they record 18 hours or static as she travels through a wormhole but deny it. Made me really get interested in physics and sci-fi back then. I've loved reading books about time travel and the illusion of time.

I wonder if time travel could truly alter the future if its any reflection of how particles react when being observed, for example if you went into the past and said a catastrophy was going to occur and then made energy(including human beings) aware of the disaster that was going to happen wouldnt this then change the our reaction from just being aware... hmmmmm...I suppose traveling to the future would be interesting in a sense but what if there is nothing to come back to?

You can't time travel. Say if you wanted to go back in time to change something you would just go back when you change it. Why? Because you would've never gone back in time then.
Matt Pease Thank you, if anyone really logically thinks about time travel they would know its literally impossible. Its so complicated to explain but time traveling to the future would put you right where you would be if you waited to get there, unless it was too far and you would die. You probably wouldnt even know if you time traveled. Going back into the past doesnt make sense either because if anything changed there your present would exist from where you came, so you never would have time traveled. It just doesnt make sense. People make the argument that we just dont understand certain things yet just like people never though there would be computer and video games but time travel is illogical. Computer work with electricity not ripples in time and space.

Time travel? Easy peasy.
Want to go forwards? Sit there.
Want to stop time? Visit your local black hole.
Want to go backwards? Simply build a particle accelerator whose radius is the same size as the orbit of Neptune, collide some protons as you normally would to create a spacetime tear, dump a bit of negative energy through that tear, and nudge it into a close orbit to a black hole. From then on, you can travel through that tear back to the point at which it was made.
P.S.: Just make sure there is plenty of room for whatever lifeforms in the future decide to use that tear to come back and visit us.

Hum interesting. Firstly black holes don't stop time. Secondly it is either completely or almost completely impossible to make negative energy and if you were to 'nudge' a wormhole close to a black hole it would be absorbed by the black hole once it was past it's event horizon before it would even be of any significance and not to mention the unfortold paradoxical effects that launching a wormhole into a black hole would cause.
I agree with you, but traveling back in time is not possible. Think of it. Some scientists invent an time machine (particle accelerator in your case) . They want to use it to go back in time 2 months earlier, when the time machine was not yet created. So, how is it possible? Can you eat a pie without cooking it?

Perhaps it was a bootstrap paradox. (If this is real) Regerbryan was told by his future self to take a different route and realizes that it was his future self, and when he decides to travel back in time, he told his younger self to take a different route, thus causing the younger self to realize it was his future self.

Such as, someone could have posted a comment four weeks ago, and my present self would be replying to their past self, only to have them reply back to my past self, in their present, even though most of us are in the present in real life. Time travel, is possible. (On the internet at least.)

I do that a lot. I was watching a video about dragons. They were trying to find out how dragons could fly. I wrote that they could fly because of hydrogen. A minute later in the video they said they could fly because of organs holding hydrogen.
